“A precious baby, yet another pit bull puppy used & abused, tragically at the hands of humans…who else!! Some may well say, well this was just another dog, found abused, who found a home. But remember all dogs rescued are special; their hearts all heal in their own unique ways. If I had been abused as this pup had, I wouldn’t be so quick to forgive…but that’s the difference between us & dogs or any animal…show them love & they will readily love back unconditionally. Yes some dogs do take longer than others to heal, but rarely are there any, not willing to love; putting their hardships, behind them & always being there for you. Some dogs are just special, they have an amazing ability to make the shittiest day, be forgotten with one sweet lick…they make you laugh when you only feel like crying. This really touched my heart, & pricked my eyes with tears; this made me feel so grateful to have my 3 dogs, whom without, my life would be empty! I think anyone who has never loved a dog is missing; out on one of Gods sweetest, kindest most loyal of creatures…any ones best friend, a dog!”
“Molly, well, straight away, it was apparent that Molly had a big heart, willing to love & be loved by all. This is where I have to question my faith, Molly had everything to live for with her new loving family. But it didn’t turn out to be a happy ending; why does the happiness of those who deserve to have the best, sometimes have it taken away??. Why can’t that happen to all the low life scum in this life, those that continually abuse, hurt, kill? I guess God, for whatever reason, sometimes, just needs the special ones, more in heaven, than on earth…well that’s the way I look at it; as hard as it is to try & come to terms with. So yes your going to need the Kleenex for this one, because it is sad. I’m just so thankful that Molly found love & gave love, in her short time on this earth. I’m sure she is having the time of her life over Rainbow Bridge, patiently waiting to see her loved ones again. God Bless sweet baby girl. R.I.P Molly”
Molly the pit bull experienced the very worst and the very best of humankind during her very short life. Molly was brutalized as a bait dog and then left tied to a pole in the basement of an abandoned Baltimore house at six months old.
She was found by a workman, rescued, then adopted into a loving home.
Molly flourished in her new home and became attached to her dog siblings and her humans. For three months she knew happiness, comfort, companionship and love. Then a sudden and catastrophic health event ended her life.
A friend made the following memorial video in honor of Molly. It is both heartbreaking and heartwarming to watch.
WARNING: The video contains a few disturbing photos showing Molly’s injuries when she was found.
The creator of the memorial video writes:
Molly, at 6 months old, was found in a basement, tied to a pole… it appeared she’d been used as a bait dog in a dog fighting ring. With love and support, Molly healed and continued to love both people and dogs, despite what was done to her.
On February 1st Molly took a sudden turn, just when things seemed so hopeful, and developed a profound infection of her entire hind end. It progressed so quickly it ruptured disks in her spine, paralysing her.
Molly had fought hard, but she would not be coming home this time… This video is in honour of Molly, and all those who loved and cared for her. Run Free Molly, thank you for giving us a second chance.

“The barbaric F-ing pigs, they could at least have used sharp knives…Jesus Christ, I was willing them to get in & pull out the live ones, which they did, I thought yes, they are merciful…but then they proceeded to hack at their necks again with a blunt blade. This is just not good enough, imagine if the UK or US did anything like this, there would be bloody uproar! The time has come for animals raised on certain land, should be slaughtered on that land, pre-packed or frozen…then shipped off…I see no other way around it, that will stop the animals from suffering. If the way they where killing those animals was Kosher or halal, then its the most gruesome form of slaughter ever & shouldn’t be allowed…tradition or not.”
“If the book said all new-born baby boys should be slaughtered at age 12 months, do you think they would still be doing it, because it’s one of their so-called religions?? No I doubt it, well not without hassle from every other Country in the land! Why would any god want the blood of animals to appease them? It’s sickening & needs to bloody stop…you don’t even have to be animal lover to be disgusted with the way the sheep were disposed of. I can for-see some horrific plague or disease coming their way very soon, from the dumped carcasses. I wonder how many poor people, actually thought about or actually jumped in the ditch to pull out a carcass to feed themselves? Just thinking out load, sorry”
Bob Ilffa, from the Wheatbelt town of Newdegate, made the comment as the industry braced for an ABC Four Corners program on the recent inhumane slaughter of about 22,000 Australian sheep in Pakistan on health concerns.
The sheep were in limbo for over a month after they were rejected in Bahrain, but further health fears in Pakistan led to them being brutally killed – in some cases buried alive - in two stages.
The culls came after repeated proof by independent veterinarians that the sheep were healthy.
The Fremantle-based exporter Wellard expressed shock when the second cull was ordered on October 20, despite promises from local authorities a day earlier that the remaining sheep would be slaughtered humanely.
The pledge came after the company agreed to drop a court injunction seeking to overturn the government-ordered cull.
Wellard immediately suspended exports to Pakistan, which had only ever been considered a contingent market.
Sheepmeat Council of Australia said it was an isolated, unusual turn of events that led to a totally unacceptable outcome.
But Mr Iffla went a step further, saying he would never send sheep to Pakistan again.
“There’s no way my sheep will ever be going to Pakistan,” he told AAP on Monday.
Mr Iffla said he was in agreement with animal liberationists in calling for the Pakistan market to be snubbed, but did not believe an end to live exports elsewhere was feasible, given the need among many nations to secure protein via imports.
He said he was extremely disappointed with the way the sheep had been killed, especially considering a modern abattoir was readily accessible.
Instead, the animals were clubbed and had their throats roughly slashed in a dusty feedlots.
“Pakistan has done the wrong thing by the industry,” Mr Iffla said.
“It’s absolutely appalling behaviour by the Pakistanis, who I don’t believe we can continue to deal with (the country) because it’s just going to wreck the whole live animal trade.”
Mr Iffla said his sheep were currently breeding so another wave of lambs was on the way, but after that, he would rethink his business, producing less meat or even focusing on agriculture. “I don’t know where we’re going,” he said.
“I’m certainly thinking of changing my program to some degree because if we can’t make the profit out of live sheep in the manner that we have been, we’re going to have to diversify into other areas.”
The Queensland Greens reiterated calls to ban live exports, saying it was not within Australia’s power to control what happened to livestock once they were outside the country.
Greens Senator Lee Rhiannonwants the federal government to end the trade through the Live Animal Export (Slaughter) Prohibition Bill 2012, but that appears destined to fail in the Senate.
Labor senatorGlenn Sterle last month said the Greens were suggesting that with abattoirs back in the north and a boxed meat market in place, everything would be “tickety-boo”.
Mr Iffla also said Australia should stop providing aid to Pakistan because of the cull.
See the truth behind the biggest live export tragedy in history. PAKISTAN 2012. As seen on Four Corners.
Live animal export is an inherently cruel trade, which is why it is opposed by every animal protection organisation throughout the world. It continues for one reason only: profit. What might happen, if exported animals were deemed ‘unfit’ for human consumption and lost all of their economic value? It happened recently in Pakistan. The reality will shock you.
“Below are links to video & a more detailed look into this illegal racket. I was going to post it, had it all set up, then I saw this lighter version! But it’s worth reading, sounds to me like others got off Scott free; make me wonder if this guy hasn’t taken the rap for a few others!!”

A Thai national has been sentenced to 40 years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to charges of exporting rhino horns from South Africa, in the country’s strongest illegal wildlife sentence to date.
Chumlong Lemtongthai admitted to playing a large part in a scheme that usedwhite rhinotrophy hunts inSouth Africaas a cover for smuggling horns to black markets inAsia. He employedAsiannationals to pose as hunters and take part in organised hunts on game farms in the North West province.
Charges against three South Africans and two others Asian nationals, the co-accused, were however dropped without explanation.
Lemtongthai told Johnannesburg’s Kempton Park magistrates court: “I humbly apologise to the court and to the people of South Africa for my role in this matter. I appreciate that the emotions of all animal lovers in South Africa are running very high and that I was part of the problem.”
Jo Shaw, rhino co-ordinator for WWF-SA, said: “These higher-level arrests and convictions are critical to disrupting theillegal tradechains used to move rhino horns into illicit markets in Asia.”
“Firstly let me just say the video is not on auto play, to watch it you must click play”
“I’m disgusted at the way these workers treat these sentient beings…To make the slaughter process better, people have to join together TO WANT to make changes. I don’t eat meat but for those that do, I’m sure you too would prefer the animal to have been properly stunned & slaughtered. What you see in the video is blatant abuse, the workers enjoy inflicting pain on the animals, it must make them feel more manly…FFS…I wish they would also only have one animal at a time in the stun room, the other poor animals have to watch, not nice is it? Lets make some changes, stand up & be heard, sign the petition below”.
Although the government has been reluctant to encourage slaughterhouses to install CCTV,ten supermarkets - Morrisons, Waitrose, the Co-op, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Tesco, Lidl, Asda, Marks & Spencer and Iceland – along with wholesalers Booker, have now agreed to deal only with slaughterhouses that have independently monitored CCTV cameras installed. We are now working with the supermarket chains to ensure that the CCTV footage is monitored properly and that incidents of law-breaking are dealt with effectively.
One slaughterhouse – A&G Barber – has closed permanently as a result of our exposé, and legal action was started against nine workers and four slaughterhouse operators. But, in September 2010, DEFRA decided to drop all these cases, offering no convincing explanation for its decision. Animal Aidembarked on a long battle to reverse this decision to bring the abusers to justice, which culminated in two men being jailed for burning pigs with cigarettes and beating them with excessive force and frequency.
Bristol University is using our footage to train vets and Soil Association inspectors. The industry, government agencies and veterinary bodies are now taking part in ongoing discussions about how to implement changes and bring about improvements in animal welfare in slaughterhouses.
Most importantly, perhaps, the horror of slaughter has been brought to the public’s attention through our footage and through articles in the print media and on television. Many people have seen the reality and chosen to adopt a meat-free diet as a result.
Animal Aid started to film secretly inside Britain’s slaughterhouses in January 2009. To date, we have filmed inside nine randomly chosen slaughterhouses and found evidence of cruelty and lawbreaking in eight of them.
The problems are serious and widespread. Our films reveal animals being kicked, slapped, stamped on, and picked up by fleeces and ears and thrown into stunning pens. We recorded animals being improperly stunned and going to the knife while still conscious. Even where no laws were broken, animals still suffered pain and fear.
And ‘high welfare’ plants, such as those accredited by the Soil Association, were no better than the non-organic ones. Animal Aid believes that whether ‘conventional’, organic, kosher or halal, all slaughter is unnecessary and immoral, and the only way to prevent such suffering is to choose a meat-free diet.
We are calling for CCTV to be installed in all UK slaughterhouses and for the footage to be made available to independent parties outside of the slaughterhouse. We also want better independent training, regular retraining and assessment, rigorous enforcement of the laws. We also believe that people with outstanding convictions for violence or animal cruelty working should fail the ‘fit and proper person’ test and should not be issued a slaughter licence. Finally, we want people to see the shocking truth from inside UK slaughterhouses and choose a humane diet.
The welfare of animals at slaughteris a devolved issue, so we are lobbying each of the four GB countries to introduce a new regulation under section 12 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 (England and Wales); Section 26 of the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006; and Section 11 of the Welfare of Animals Act (Northern Ireland) 2011.
When the government refused to act, Animal Aid and our supporters lobbied the supermarkets to insist on CCTV in all their slaughterhouse suppliers. The ten largest, along with wholesalers Booker, agreed, and committed to having CCTV installed by the end of 2011.
This means we have a voluntary scheme in which an estimated 80 per cent of slaughterhouses are covered. But it is only a voluntary scheme, and in order to ensure that supermarkets and slaughterhouses do not have a change of heart, CCTV must be installed in all slaughterhouses.
Animal Aid continues to work with politicians and officials in all four GB countries and is encouraged to see progress. But there is still a long way to go.
The Meat Wagon is an ambulance that has been converted to show films about animal farming and slaughter, and to promote a healthy, humane and planet-friendly diet.
It will be touring the country this summer and coming to a town near you.
“I have searched for hours & can’t find any further information on this horrific case, what you see is all I can find, the petition bit! So I have wrote to the petition author to see if he/she can give me more details, as to who this Alex is. I really, really want to find out who this ALEX pig is, & where he lives…this incident can’t just be left…for the sake of the dog, I will keep on looking. Her rapists must pay for what he has done! “
“If you wish to watch the video, it’s not as bad as I thought, I’ve seen worse… however, seeing any animal in pain isn’t pleasant. Its mainly the vets talking to a lady (I presume the lady who rescued Gina) for a long time, whilst the dog stands on the table….when the vets put latex gloves on, that’s the cue to look away, or when the camera goes toward the dog’s tail. Gina’s uterus appears to have prolapsed or ruptured, I can’t help wondering how long ago it happened; because there is no bodily fluid or blood!
“I can’t believe they were sort of looking & touching which was obviously painful for Gina, but they didn’t give the dog any pain medication or fluids, unless they did after the camera was turned off.”
“Obviously the whole video is in Portuguese I think, I would be eternally grateful if anyone could translate a script of what is being said in the video? Perhaps then we may have more leads to find this ALEX and get him sent down for a long time…along with his mother, the bitch, she knew what was happening but did nothing!”
“Please sign the petition for Gina’s sake…30,182 people have already signed”
Raped so many times she died of internal organs being ruptured etc. The bastard that did has not been punished yet!”
PETITION LETTER – Translated
To: City of Pelotas
Gina was a little puppy kept in captivity to satisfy the sexual needs of his “owner”, Alex. Despite several appeals to animal protection agencies Gina was never rescued, until a protective, tired of witnessing the situation and never get a response from agencies that should be responsible rescued the dog and took her to the vet.
Unfortunately Gina died that night, the victim of countless rapes, sexual organs with completely torn and exteriorized.
Frigate resident in the neighbourhood street Dom Luis Nadal, number 79, the rapist Alex goes unpunished! It is worth noting that the boy’s mother knew everything and claimed that the dog “screamed in cheek” when referring to episodes of rape committed by the son!! WE WANT JUSTICE!!!!!!!
“The following is translated from Portuguese ao ir is a little disjointed, but I’m sure you will get the drift!!. The little shit in the video, is unrelenting punching etc. I cried throughout, so please use viewer discretion. I so wish I knew who & what was said on the blacked out speech video, it could be the little shit himself…the one doing the abusing! It’s at times like these where I wished I had studied harder in languages! By God I would like to punch his maracas till their black & blue!!”
Dogs get water on the muzzle and take punches and blows to the head. Flagrant was done by an amateur cameraman and shown in RJTV.
Images recorded five months ago by a witness shows that animals were mistreated at Four Paws Pet Shop, located at Rua Pernambuco, in Engenho de Dentro, in the suburb of Rio According to the witness, who was outraged by the abuse, mistreatment were constant and the animals cried out in pain. Some left injured and traumatized by the beatings that took.
Published 18 October
Sought by staff RJTV, the owner of the establishment, Solange Barroso, showed surprise at the allegations. She said she never received complaints of mistreatment. “Well how would they know it was from there, its supposed to be a professional dog salon”
She acknowledged the offending animal as his own son – Daniel, 20. However, even appearing in the images, she denied that knew of the assaults. In the absence of officials, he came to work in the shop a few months ago. Currently, serves to bring and fetch the dogs at home.
“That was not my understanding. Things that are happening at the moment and you can not control you.’s So that I can say. Asking thousand excuses because, really, I do not have or what to say,” said Solange, who informed he will be away from the property, as shown by the Journal Today.
In the recording, there slaps, punches, insults and objects at the head of the animal. Abundant water in the snout to drown the animal, potions. Moreover, paws and noses were tied with inappropriate objects.
“I understand that when you take an animal to a particular service, it has to be done and have more pleasure, which is a caring, understand? The animal is feeling. Since there was not so well, it was ice water, tied her mouth and blows, “said the witness.
The flagrant shows that the dog is inside the tank and gets the first punch. Then the employee strength ties with the muzzle of the animal, gives slapping, shoving and a sequence of punches. The dog calms down. Already mastered, receives a lot of water on the face, slaps and shoves new.
Pictures of amateur cameraman shows the dog aggression (Photo: Play / TV Globo)
The assaults also occur with small dogs and quiet. But the most shocking scenes are with a dog breed labrador. The animal, even dominated, receives a sequence of punches to the head. He takes almost throughout the bath, which lasts 15 minutes.
For images, you can see that the employee uses a plastic bottle to harm the dog. Then he grabs another bottle of shampoo to hit the animal. The attacks do not stop. The dog does not react, is apparently calm, but still receiving punches.
The owner of the labrador, Vera Fernandes, lives alone with Thor, 5 years. She said the dog bathes in the pet shop twice a month for a year. He said he never suspected anything wrong.
“I’m shocked. I never imagined they could do such a thing. Nãotem If patience with animal, for opening a facility to care for an animal?” Asked Vera.
Reporting
Anyone who wants to report the abuse, can take three actions: seek the nearest police station or police station of Environmental Protection, in St. Kitts, in the northern zone of the city, and you can call the number 1746. After the complaint, agents of the Department of Defense Special Pets go to the site to do a survey. If the complaint is upheld, the store owner can be notified and the pet shop has a term to suit. However, if the error persists, the establishment’s business license could be suspended.
A rhino orphanage has opened in South Africa’s northern province of Limpopo — the first of its kind in the world. NBC’s Rohit Kachroo reports.
Poachers have killed 455 rhinos so far this year in South Africa — more than half in a single national park — topping last year’s mark of 448, South Africa announced this week. The rhinos are killed for their horns, which fetch thousands of dollars and are ground up as a purported treatment for illnesses and hangovers.
The World Wildlife Fund urged South Africa to provide more on-the-ground protection and to press Vietnam, which has become the main destination for rhino horns.
“WWF is concerned that the memorandum of understanding with Vietnam for collaborative action against illegal rhino horn trade remains unsigned,” Jo Shaw, the group’s rhino coordinator in South Africa, said in a statement. “There is also an urgent need for law enforcement actions by neighbouring countries which are implicated as transit routes for illegal trade in rhino horn, specifically Mozambique.”
The group did praise South Africa for a spike in poaching arrests, but added that a key test will be what happens in a trial that begins Friday.
In South Africa, home to three quarters of the last remaining rhinos on the planet, a spike in rhino poaching is threatening the white rhino’s survival. Rising demand for the lucrative rhino horn in places such as Vietnam has led to a drastic increase in poaching. Traditional medicine systems in Asia promote the horn as having special healing powers. Gram for gram, rhino horn is more valuable on the black market in Asia than cocaine or gold. More than 400 rhinos were killed last year in South Africa, leaving conservationists, security forces and private game reserve owners scrambling to protect the animal. Harry Smith reports.
Dubbed the “Groenewald Gang,” a safari tour operator, veterinarians, professional hunters and a helicopter pilot face charges related to the killing of 20 rhinos.
“The world is watching to see that South Africa is prepared to prosecute rhino crimes to the fullest extent of the law and take these crimes seriously as an affront to South Africa’s national heritage,” Shaw said.
Poaching of rhino horns and elephant tusks has increased across Africa and Asia as demand has risen in recent years.
In South Africa, just 13 rhinos were slaughtered in 2007, followed by 83 in 2008. The number has steadily increased since then.
Shaw noted that while “more rhinos are being born than are dying” in South Africa, that could change. “We are approaching the critical tipping point where rhino numbers go into decline and would undermine conservation efforts.”
“This is what you call a real lucky dog…to be struck at 50 miles per hour, so that his body was wedged in the grill vent of the car; then to walk away with minor injuries…is a miracle!! You just gotta see the video!”
The owners, who weren’t identified, told WPRI-TVit’s a “miracle.”
East Providence Animal Control supervisor William Muggle said the owners claimed “Suzie” on Tuesday after seeing news reports. Animal control tells The Providence Journal they had veterinary paperwork with the dog’s microchip number.
Muggle said the female poodle mix ran in front of a car inTaunton, Mass., Sept. 20. The driver slammed on the brakes but didn’t see the dog.
Muggle said another motorist noticed it when the driver reached East Providence.
Animal control officers were able to free the fluffy white pooch, which suffered a concussion and minor injuries.
“Sorry about the video not being linked, ever since Vodpod swapped over to Lockerz, I have been having problems getting videos to attach to posts. It’s so bloody frustrating, can’t even have them as a widget either!!”
The owners of Salsa, a chihuahua mix, spoke exclusively with NBC10 Jersey Shore Bureau reporter Ted Greenberg and says they are heartbroken
An investigation is under-way after an 8-month old puppy is shot and killed in Bridgeton, Cumberland County.
The owners of Salsa, a chihuahua mix, spoke exclusively withNBC10Jersey Shore Bureau reporter Ted Greenberg and says her family is a wreck.
“It just breaks my heart, really breaks my heart to know they could do that to a dog,” said Anita Guerrero, dog’s owner.
The family says they let the dog outside to relieve himself on September 23 but couldn’t find him after a few minutes. Two days later, he was found dead in a neighbour’s yard.
“If you had a complaint, come knock on the door, bring it up with the owner of the dog. Don’t just shoot the dog,” said George Peacock, dog’s owner.
The Cumberland County SPCA says Bridgeton Animal Control had received prior complaints about the dog running loose in the neighbourhood.
“We can’t ignore the lack of responsibility on the part of the owners because no animals should be running loose.
But it’s never right to take justice into your own hands, especially when it now involves the death of an animal,” said Bev Greco, Cumberland County SPCA.
Authorities say the person responsible could face jail time and a $3,000 fine.
“WOW… 2000 posts…I’ve finally achieved something that means a lot to me. Being disabled I find it hard to do anything where I feel like I have actually done something worthwhile or made a difference. All my achievements used to be with my horses etc. & animal welfare activities. I used to love going to horse sales & doing undercover work for local area managers from World Horse Welfare. I can’t do any of the things I used to do, pain rules & dictates my life. So I’m going to pat my self on the back & say well done….I never thought I would manage 200… so yes, I am rather chuffed with my little self.”
”So I wanted something special to mark the occasion, something that I love…yup horses…just check out this little cheeky chap. I also wanted to show this, to prove that in horse racing, when a horse falls & breaks a leg etc. they don’t have to be put down…there is no excuse to shoot them, when they can recover like Faith. There are many amputee horses with prosthetic legs, but then again, they have owners who love them as pets, not as money makers!! Enjoy!”
“And little Cookie, thrown out like trash…I will never understand how a human heart can be so cruel. Yet I am so happy places like this exist. Visit their website to see the marvellous work they do!”
Faith is doing very well and will be returning from the vets in Barcelona to the Rescue Centre this autumn 2012. With her new prosthetic leg, she will return to her soft grassed garden and her friends.
We will continue to post updates on her facebook page (Faith the Pony) and you are more than welcome to come and visit her during the open days once she has returned, to see just how wonderfully she is doing.

On Easter Saturday we received an emergency call for help after a pony was found abandoned to die on waste ground in Benijofar. Spotted by a group of children, the pony was in a shocking state – half bald and covered in mud and faeces. Our volunteers rushed to the scene with an officer from Benijofar police. When they arrived they found the pony lying on a pathway. It looked as though she had simply lain down to die. She could not have survived much longer. If it had not been for the children who found her and the fast action of Benijofar Police and council calling us, we would have been dealing with a dead pony.
