Authorities intercept man trying to leave a day after dozens of dead tiger cubs found in Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua temple freezer

Wildlife authorities in Thailand have found adult tiger skins and fangs during a raid on the “tiger temple” tourist attraction and intercepted a monk who was trying to leave in a car that was carrying skins. Separately, officials said they would press charges against the Buddhist temple after 40 tiger cubs were found in a freezer on Wednesday.
“Today we found tigers skins and amulets in a car which was trying to leave a temple,” said Adisorn Noochdumrong, the deputy director of the DNP. He said a search of several monks’ quarters yielded further body parts, bringing Thursday’s haul to two full-body tiger skins, about 10 fangs and dozens of pieces of tiger fur.
Volunteers, staff and monks at Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua temple complex have long denied trafficking allegations. But international animal rights groups including WWF and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals applauded the raid. Police Col Bandith Meungsukhum told AFP the dead cubs would have been one or two days old. He said their DNA would be tested to see if they were related to tigers at the temple.
The temple claims it decided in 2010 to stop cremating the cubs and preserve them to “keep as proof against the allegations of selling cubs”.
Thailand is a central route for the illegal wildlife trade through south-east Asia, including for ivory, rhino horn and live animals. Tiger parts, including bones and penises, are used in traditional Chinese medicine.
The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species banned the trade in tiger parts and products in 2007. The raid is the culmination of a battle that has been going on for years between the government and the temple. Thailand has an estimated 1,200-1,300 captive tigers.

Hatem Yavuz from Turkey buys the pelts of every one of the 86,000 seal pups that are slaughtered every year in Namibia.
Every year in Namibia, 86,000 Cape Fur Seal pups are butchered to death and only one man has the contract to turn their fur into so-called fashionable apparel. The Turkish and Australia based company Hatem Yavuz named after the owner Hatem Yavuz controls roughly 60 percent of the world’s seal market and processes 130,000 seal pelts every year in his Istanbul factory. Yavuz also has a hand in the Canadian seal market and claims to be proud of what he does. In an interview that spurred a flurry of hate mail, Yavuz told 7 News in Australia that “it’s a job. If I don’t do it, someone else is going to do it.” He is called the King of Seal Killers.
Illegal Seal Killing
Green Prophet recently caught up with Pat Dickens, founder of the Seals of Nam, a non-profit organization that has been campaigning to end Namibia’s annual seal cull on the Cape Cross Seal Reserve. A popular tourist attraction, every year between July and November the sands of the reserve are stained pink from the blood of seal pups as young as seven months old.
Men with clubs and picks enter the seal colony early in the morning. The traumatized animals squeal and run away, often regurgitating their mother’s milk in terror. Their skulls are crushed and their throats slit. Several reports show that blows to their head often only render the animals unconscious.
These remains are cleaned up before tourists show up in what is a heavily regulated area.
Dickens has gone through all of the appropriate channels to appeal to the Namibian government to cancel its contract with Yavuz, which is valid until 2019, as it stands in direct contravention to the Animal Protection Act of 1962 that makes it unlawful to “overload, overdrive, override, ill-treat, neglect, infuriate, torture or maim or cruelly beat, kick, goad or terrify any animal.”
Boycott
He appealed to the Namibian ombudsman Adv. John Walters, which speech has since been followed up with a series of delay tactics. Several animal rights organizations have become involved and Jane Goodall and other celebrities have made public statements against this terrible practice.
Meanwhile, the Humane Society released a report which shows that the so-calledseal-cullingindustry, which only employs 81 people in Namibia, benefits theNamibian economy300 times less than live seals and eco-tourism would.
Since The Seals of Nam have not made progress “the nice way”, they have elevated the stakes of their campaign.
The activist organization recently sent a formal appeal to the world’s largest tourism fair taking place in early March, ITB Berlin, to bar Namibia’s attendance, and a series of other public protests will take place throughout the world in order to increase awareness of what has become the world’s largest seal harvest.
They have also called for a boycott of all major industries that contribute to Namibia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) including Namibia Breweries, De Beers, and Namibia Air.
Dickens, who quit a lucrative corporate career, sold his bike, and cashed in his pension to protect Namibia’s seals from the likes of Yavuz, told Green Prophet that the Wildlife Defense Society (WDS Namibia) recently announced their official support of the boycott, despite the enormous fiscal ramifications it could have for their own country.
Bloody Money
But the odds are stocked against the seals since the King of Seal Killers makes a lucrative living from his business. One seal fur coat sells for Aus $30,000 – “enough to buy a car,” he boasted in an interview with 7 News.
Cape Fur Seals are listed as a UN-CITES Endangered Appendix II species and the United States, Mexico, the European Union, and Russia have subsequently banned all seal products in protest. If you would like to join the fight against Namibia’s annual seal harvest, please visit The Seals of Nam website and show your support.
“Unlike the seals targeted by the commercial Canadian seal massacre, the Namibian seal has much greater locomotive abilities. These seals will attempt to run away and can run almost as fast as a man, even over rough terrain. When they are being beaten to death, they take evasive action. Several blows are typically landed before the animal is rendered dead or unconscious. Since the EU and Russia have banned the import of Canadian skins, the Namibian seal “cull” has become the largest slaughter of marine mammals on earth. Namibia is also the only country in the world that allows for nursing pups to be slaughtered. It is for these reasons that the Namibian hunt is considered the most brutal of all seal hunts.”
“I wrote this song and created the video as a special dedication to the tens of thousands of innocent seals which are ruthlessly killed every year during the Namibian seal slaughter. It is my sincere wish that this cruel practice will come to an end forever and I wholeheartedly support any efforts to make this wish a realization.”
BHOPAL: A section of Pardhis from Madhya Pradesh have yet proved to be the biggest threat to wild life; particularly the big cat population in India. Very recently they are reported to have smuggled half a dozen tiger hides to an international syndicate from their base in Katni district. And all this while wild life officials, busy pitching for lions from Gir in Gujarat to the state, appeared blissfully ignorant.
The poaching racket headquartered at Katni was busted on Sunday with the arrest of three Pardhis by a crime branch team ofMaharashtra police from Nagpur. The arrests were made from a village in Nagpur on specific inputs from an organisation working for wildlife.
The accused Chika alias Krishna, Badlu alias Mangru and Shiri – all residents of Katni’s Sagoni village -have confessed to selling five tiger hides so far to a Haryana-based trader. The deal was worth Rs 20 lakh for three tiger hides, said sources.
Poachers Snare
One of the tiger, they said, was poached from Mandla district. However, no tiger hides have been confiscated so far.
Now, the forest officials in four states – Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh – are on the lookout for 30 more Pardhis, from two villages (Sagoni and Billhari) in Katni district. Pardhi families from Katni disappeared from these two villages a day before the trio were arrested, said sources adding that the information got leaked.
Most of the accused on run are close relatives of the 37 Pardhis arrested from Katni for poaching lions fromGir national park in Gujarat in 2007. Teams have been dispatched to different locations tracking cell phones.
According to forest officials, the Maharashtra police had placed several Pardhis of Katni on surveillance besides intercepting their calls while the deal was being made. The arrest was made only after the skins were sold.
The 30-member gang got Rs 35,000 each from the first deal, said sources. They kept on changing their locations from one place to the other while striking the deal. Reportedly, the police could confiscate a few bones from them, which has been sent for forensic examination for identification of the species.
“I started off with the intentions of just posting the news below…but as always, I get side tracked. (please remember, anything I have to say in a post is in this blue writing) I’ve heard about this gorilla but not seen much, until I saw this. It’s most remarkable, a great ape, capable of killing a human, in an instant; but instead, Koko the Gorilla & Robin Williamspreferred to have a chit-chat, through sign language, then a tickling session I’m more than aware that humans share between 80% to 98.5% (The reason for the big gap in % is because not all agree) of DNA with chimps, gorillas & orangutans. This really does show the fact that humans & apes are so very much alike, when it comes to feelings & behaviour etc. So we can’t let these magnificent species be taken to the edge of extinction; due to the bushmeat trade!!.”
Koko the Gorilla with Robin Williams
“After watching the above , now, try to comprehend my other video & the article below; posted for & on behalf of Tony Zadel. This shouldn’t be happening, yet it continues & is a thriving business!”
“Bushmeat, popular in many parts of Africa, Asia and Latin America, is the meat of hunted wild animals; including shark fin. reptile & whale meat, birds & turtles eggs! So whilst on your travels please don’t ever buy; ANY TRINKETS MADE FROM ANIMALS, or EAT EXOTIC CUISINE…YOU MAY NOT BE AWARE IT IS FROM AN ENDANGERED SPECIES OR THAT EXTREME SUFFERING WAS INVOLVED IN ACQUIRING IT. “The trade in bushmeat has become highly commercialized in recent years and is the most significant immediate threat to the great apes in Africa today.“
“Don’t think for one minute, if a female chimpanzee is caught, her babies will be left alone…no way! There is just as much demand for babies as there is for the meat, perhaps more! Any nursing monkeys or apes could be targeted by the poachers, who without empathy, drag the babies from their mothers, still warm but breathless bodies! As if that wasn’t cruel enough, the callous barbarians, set about hacking the mothers into pieces; all, whilst in full view of the babies! I can’t begin to imagine how those poor babies must feel, or how long the nightmares will last.
While most CITIES countries dilly dally, about this & that…you can be helping end the bushmeat trade by simply signing a petition or sending a pre-written letter by email; small things that will soon add up. We need to make it our goal, to educate & raise public awareness of this diabolical trade; that could eventually see some species become extinct! One voice can say a lot but may not be heard, but a chorus of voices, can demand attention! So if you want your grandchildren, to still be able to see these exotic species, please, just spend a couple of minutes signing petitions etc! I want my great-grandchildren to be able to see the fascinating creatures of the rain forests, roaming wild;where they belong!”
Illegal Commercial Bushmeat Trade
Uploaded on 24 Jun 2009
At the heart of the declining chimpanzee population is the illegal poaching of chimps and other great apes for bushmeat. The Jane Goodall Institute is working with governments and local communities to end this horrible practice.
“Posted below, as is, for & on behalf of Tony Zadel – Please sign the petitions & take note of the links, inc. video, providing more information. Thank you!”
The Bushmeat Trade – Threat of Primate & Wildlife Extinction !!!
The unsustainable commercial and illegal bush meat trade is threatening extinction of apes, chimpanzees, gorillas, and other primates and wildlife. Not only are the primates killed for food and body parts, orphaned primates are being sold on the exotic pet market, and they are also losing their habitat through logging and commercial development.
In Africa, forest is often referred to as ‘the bush’, thus wildlife and the meat derived from it is referred to as ‘bushmeat’ (in French – viande de brousse). This term applies to all wildlife species, including threatened and endangered, used for meat including: elephant; gorilla; chimpanzee and other primates; forest antelope (duikers); crocodile; porcupine; bush pig; cane rat; pangolin; monitor lizard; guinea fowl; etc.
Though habitat loss is often cited as the primary threat to wildlife, commercial hunting for the meat of wild animals has become the most significant immediate threat to the future of wildlife in Africa and around the world; it has already resulted in widespread local extinctions in Asia and West Africa. This threat to wildlife is a crisis because it is rapidly expanding to countries and species which were previously not at risk, largely due to an increase in commercial logging, with an infrastructure of roads and trucks that links forests and hunters to cities and consumers
The bushmeat crisis is a human tragedy as well: the loss of wildlife threatens the livelihoods and food security of indigenous and rural populations most depend on wildlife as a staple or supplement to their diet, and bushmeat consumption is increasingly linked to deadly diseases like HIV/AIDS, Ebola, andFoot and Mouth disease. “For centuries, Man & Wolf lived together as they roamed the lands; both respected each other & their personal space. Sure some were killed for their meat or coats…but that was nothing compared to what society kills today in the farming industry; we kill far more than we can really eat…WHY…just because we can!!
“Just watch this poor excuse of a man, (sorry a total knob head) you would think he had struck gold…imbeciles!! What did that wolf ever fxxxxxg do to them? NOTHING!!
“This is nothing but a blood sport!! He caught the wolf with his bullet, but the poor wolf ran for its life; until he had no life left in him…COLD HEARTED KILLERS!!”

“Can anyone explain to me WHY these beautiful creatures need to be killed? It’s not for eating, it’s not for clothing as we have both in abundance! NO, THE WOLF IS KILLED PURELY BECAUSE CERTAIN STATES AROUND THE WORLD SAY IT CAN BE…THEREFORE;THOSE THAT TRAP & KILL ANY ANIMAL, DO IT PURELY FOR SPORT OR TROPHY HUNTING. THEY ARE ALL JUST COLD BLOODED KILLERS WHO CALL IT A SPORT…THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES.”
After decades of protection, the American Grey Wolf was just barely back from the brink of extinction in 2011.
But then Congress made a rash decision to de-list wolves from the Endangered Species Act. Now trapping and killing of wolves is legal, and as you can see it being carried out with brutal efficiency. Already, more than half the wolves that roamed the Rockies and mid-west are dead. If we don’t act soon, there will be none left.
You can help stop this – Don’t look away. Sign below and share with friends and family who love the wild things so we can live in a world where wolves, and the wilderness they need to survive, can thrive alongside people.
Video 1. Brutal Wolf Killing – “This is cowardly, the wolf is already caught in a trap, nothing butch or manly about this…which is probably why kids are taught to kill them with guns!! After the wolf is shot…Guy in video says “Ha ha ha ha…that’s the end of her!”

This video is hard to watch for anyone who’s ever loved wolves or wildlife. but we’re asking you not to look away. Right now in 5 states trapping and killing of wolves like this is totally legal. It’s all because of a rash and ill-informed decision made by Congress. But we need President Obama to act NOW to save the wolves.
“Another video; where the shooter is killing a sentient being, caught in a trap, so it can’t retaliate or even fight for its life…this is just a pathetic blood sport?”

I am wolf, I am the true spirit of nature a perfect creation walking beside you, guiding your senses to see the invisible.
I am a predator, preserving the delicate balance of nature, a sentient being no more evil or righteous than any other creature, born with everything I need to survive.
I am intelligent, courageous, strong, a true survivor, devoted to my family, loyal to my pack, the defender of my territory.
Mankind has chosen me as its enemy, lack of knowledge, brought fear, bred hatred, enveloped in a dark cloud of demonic imagination.
Like countless other earthlings, I am shamelessly persecuted.
My true destination, will only become visible when humans discard their imaginary fear, false legends phantasmal myths, to seek the truth!

“WTF…is no animal safe from Chinese plates? I’ve never heard of this before!”
Two Chinese men this week invaded Kutsimuleni community searching for donkeys to slaughter and eat. They paid E400 per beast.
For ref. only
They scoured Kutsimleni under Mfangimbhekile Umphakatsi until they eventually got two donkeys from a Motsa homestead situated next to the chief’s compound.
Residents became suspicious of the unfamiliar men in the area asking for donkeys and grilled them as to what exactly they wanted to do with the animals.
This is mainly because Chinese are also known to eat both dog and catmeat. The community members were also concerned that they knew the Chinese had no fields in the area or anywhere nearby to use the animals for traction since they did not own any land.
The residents also said they were suspicious because the Chinese appeared to be coming from far and therefore, could not drive the donkeys by themselves since they also did not come on a truck.
The Chinese had told the community that they wanted to carry the animals with them as soon as they paid for them.
To the surprise of the people, the men said they were badly craving for donkey meat and they wanted to kill the animal and carry the carcasses to a butchery to be sliced.
In an interview with one of the donkey owners, who asked not to be named, said he was surprised when he saw the strange men walking to his home. He said at first he thought they might have been kidnapped because he had never seen a Chinese national volunteer in the country.
“With their poor English, they explained their mission and I told them to forget it.
“I told them I would not sell any of my donkeys to them because they also said they would need my assistant in killing and skinning them.
Later on, they showed me a piece of paper with information about a certain community member who, I suppose, was where they were to buy the donkeys, but because maybe they were too hungry, they failed to follow the instruction and when they saw my donkeys, they decided to pay me a visit,” he said.
Asked why he refused to sell the donkeys, the farmer said all he knew was that a donkey meat was inedible thus he regarded it a taboo when they came to his place. He said he was irked by the offer for each donkey, stressing that E400 was not enough because even a goat costs more than that. Nowadays goats cost at least E600 each.
The man, who eventually sold his donkeys for E800 (E400 each), on the other hand, said he needed the money and had enough donkeys to worry about giving away only two.
The old man, on crutches, refused to have his picture taken nor give his name, but we later learnt that he was a Motsa. “I do not want my pictures taken please respect me. I wonder what is wrong with selling my donkeys to people who want them. They said they were craving for the donkey meat and because I had enough I gave them my two donkeys,” he said.
Efforts to get comments from the Chinese men proved futile because of their poor English.
Residents assist in skinning
Some brave community members assisted the Chinese men to kill and skin the donkeys they bought from the Motsa man.
They were given instructions on how to kill them while they (Chinese men) stood from a distance and watched with folded arms.
Rode
They first rode the animals to a nearby mini bush, where, one of them was tied to a big tree; the back of an axe was used to hit the back of its head.
The animal was not moved by the first hit though it was very strong, but one could see it moving a bit while shaking its head probably in pain. However, the second hit was too strong for the animal to bear that it went down on its knees, its tail raised up and finally died. Curious community members had gathered at the scene to witness the killing, but were too scared to see the animal die.
“Most of us closed our eyes with both hands. I have never seen an animal killed like this. some people said even pigs are killed this way, but I still do not believe it.
“The Chinese men were not moved by the whole incident,” he said.
Observed during the skinning of the animal was that its intestines were larger than those of a cow and its meat more red than beef.
The ministry of agriculture will launch investigations about the issue of the sold and killed donkeys. Minister Clement Dlamini said he had since instructed veterinarians from the ministry to investigate the matter and visit the area where it happened.
“The challenge is that in this country, donkeys are not eaten and therefore there is no law regulating their use as food or how they are moved from one area to another. If they die we simply bury the carcass.
“Even then I think the people who bought the donkey should have got a carcass permit when transporting it,” he said.
He wondered where the donkey was sliced and stated that it was the first time he heard that some people eat donkeys.
In an interview with one of the Chinese man, he said simply cut it himself with an axe.
He refused to give his name and threatened to cut the call.
According to information sourced from the internet, a few donkeys are milked or raised for meat inItaly, which has the highest consumption of equine meat in Europe and where donkey meat is the main ingredient of several regional dishes. Only about 1 000 donkeys were slaughtered in 2010, yielding approximately 100 tonnes of meat. “Only?”
Asses’ milk may command good prices: the average price in Italy in 2009 was €15 per litre, and a price of €6 per 100 ml was reported from Croatia in 2008; it is used for soaps and cosmetics as well as dietary purposes. “Ugh…I didn’t know that, but I do know I have never used any; well I bloody hope I haven’t, especially on vacations around Italy etc. I’m virtually vegan so don’t touch any animal products; if I know that is!”
The niche markets for both milk and meat are expanding. In the past, donkey skin was used in the production of parchment. “Didn’t know that either!”

The accused, Bhola, reportedly butchered one of the limbs of the tiger and took it away, telling his fellow poachers that he would go home, cook and eat the meat. The shocking fact has come up during interrogation of the poachers by theforest authorities.
Five accused who were arrested by the forest staff were on Tuesday produced in the court which remanded them to the custody of the forest department.
The tiger hide was recovered by the forest staff dumped near a culvert. While the skin was recovered, other parts of the body including its kidney, liver and intestine were also missing. Autopsy revealed that one of its hind limb was cut off with a sharp edged weapon, while soft organs were consumed by predators.
Bhola and his two accomplices Thakurudeen and Dasuare still at large. Efforts are on to arrest them, said R P S Chouhan, conservator of forest (CF) Umaria. We are hopeful about recovering the tiger nails which the accused had cut and taken away, he said.
Five persons belonging toPalia tribal community, Darohi village (Umeria) were arrested for electrocuting the tiger near Bandhavgarh reserve on Sunday night – a few hours after its skinned carcass was found near Ghunghuti range. The accused were identified asRam Singh, 39, Ram Milan, 30, Rajan, 24, Sukh Sen, 32, and Raju 28. The tiger skin buried in the jungle, using salt as preservative, was recovered from them.
During interrogation, accused – Ram Milan – told forest officials that Bhola, who lured them to skin the tiger, took away the limb, for eating. He maintained that the trap was laid for wild boars, but the tiger fell into it accidentally. The tiger got killed on the intervening night of December 7 and 8.
Panicked poachers dumped the tiger body into a culvert and went back to their village. Later in the morning they discussed the matter with Bhola and other relatives. And subsequently they agreed to revisit the spot to collect its skin, bones, nails and meat.
The tiger was skinned on the intervening night of December 8 and 9.
Bhola’s attempts to extract teeth of the tiger by hitting it with axe failed, after two of the canine teeth’s broke into pieces, making the set of teeth redundant, Ram Milan told interrogators.
As his share in the kill, Bhola took away the hind limb for consumption along with three nails, said officials quoting revelations made by the arrested poachers.
The following video is very informative & well worth watching, it explains the problems faced by the tigers & the villagers that are encroaching on the tigers habitat. However there are some scenes of recent tiger kills; viewer discretion advised
In 1994 a Buddhist Temple was founded in Thailand. It would become one of the most well-known tourist attractions, where the public could interact with Tigers. But it hid a terrible secret; it would also come to be known as one of the most infamous tiger breeding, trading and abusive facilities in the world!
Sybelle Foxcroft was the undercover investigator who exposed this. After the Thai Government and no conservation agency moved on this violent place, Sybelle continued to go into the temple and investigate herself with her conservation organisation, Cee4life (Conservation and Environmental Education 4 Life).
On October 2012, Sybelle went back with David O’shea…here is the outcome….
Here is the YouTube video for the Dateline program. I went back to the Tiger Temple with Dateline journalist David O’Shea to check on the Tigers welfare, to see any changes, and to provide education for the public to travel ethically. Please share this with everyone you know.
Until people are educated about this place and others like it, animals will continue to be abused, animals will suffer, and animals will disappear, all because people think its cool to “pat” these wild creatures. Save your money and support the last 3000 tigers left in world in the wild, and help us protect the ones in captivity from illegal wildlife trade and exploitation ~ Sybelle
Thailand’s Tiger Temple attracts thousands of tourists, but activists claim there’s a history of ill treatment and illegal trafficking of animals.

Temple Tigers attacks Tourist – The Tiger is known to have a most powerful bite force of 1000 pounds/453kg when adults. A Tiger can kill at human when they are 6+ months old. On 15th October 2012, a female tourist walked into the temple and within 10 minutes she was rushed to hospital after a young tiger attacked and bit her. She has 9 stitches and is ok. Imagine if that was your head, your child’s torso..
The only reason I know is because I was there. Tourists sign and indemnity form when entering the temple, releasing them of any accountability I am compiling a list of injuries, attacks, and bites on tourists in the tiger temple over the years. I’m doing this for 2 reasons, for safety of humans, and to support the captives Tigers of the temples right to live in ethical and humane situations, away from people pulling their heads around and sitting on them etc.
They ARE survival specialist carnivores. If you or any only you know has been bitten, please send detailed information to sybelle@cee4life.org or donna@cee4life.org There is no magical care that can make tigers placid, Tigers have and will continue to attack human beings that put themselves in such dubious close proximity. Please respect your life, your loved ones, and respect these tigers. Learn to look but not touch. – Sybelle
The Drugging of the Temple Tigers – For those of you who haven’t read the book “Behind the Cloak of Buddha” I would like to clear up the “drugging of the tigers”. This so-called drugging was mentioned by one girl who never provided any proof back in 2006. There was no proof then and there is no proof now. However this girl said the Tigers were drugged to the conservation organisation who conducted the investigation and so the “story” began.
I became the undercover investigator in 2007 in the Temple and I can guarantee you that I watched from 5am -11pm and not once did I catch them giving any classic drugs (injections, pills) to the Tigers. However, I did repeatedly observe Tigers displaying classic signs and symptoms of sedation eg: unsteady, eye dialated, tongue hanging out, increased thirst, etc however still no evidence of drugging.
There are herbal concoctions that cause sedative effects which could easily have been put in their food, however again I never caught them doing that either. One afternoon I followed Hernfa back to his cage, there was something wrong with him. He was staggering, incredibly off balance, and he could barely make it to his cage. He fell onto the floor. I called his name and he struggled to lift his head, his eyes could barely focus on me. This is one of the photos of him in this state. (there are a series of them).
Hernfa drugged or exhausted?
Picture taken by Sybelle- Drugged or not? This is Hernfa one of the photos of him in this state. (there are a series of them). Was he just extremely exhausted?
Was he just extremely exhausted? He would be from 500 people. But I set about trying to find the reason for the extreme lethargy that all the Tigers displayed and I was able to determine this. These Tigers are locked in cells 20 hrs per day, no sunshine, no exercise, no enrichment. They are then pulled out for the tourists for 4 hours where they are yanked up and down for photos. Additionally, not one of these Tigers has a correct diet.
All have NEVER had red meat or blood or bones as a carnivore should, they are lacking in multiply vitamins and minerals etc, they are in a weakened state already. Then, many had been beaten from birth and the continued abuse of punches in the head and urine sprayed in the face has been caught on camera by many tourists. None of the Tigers have any real muscle tone at all and many have lost a good amount of their eyesight because of the lack of taurine in their diet. (Taurine is found in a normal carnivore meat diet and causes eye problems when there is a lack of it. In these Tigers cases, it is non existent).
So you have, unhealthy, weak, defeated, abused, unenriched, lacking exercise who cant see properly Tigers being dragged around day after day for their life. And then one day in the Tigers food preparation area I found the leaf of the Kratom tree, a category 5 narcotic, illegal but a native tree to Thailand…… Was this what caused this effect on the Tigers? Or was it purely the abuse in every way of the Tigers…. There will only be one way to find out, thorough drug testing outside of Thailand. Sybelle

Eidul Azha saw a 10 to 12 per cent increase in the number of animal sacrifices in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad this year, according to the Pakistan Butchers Welfare Association (PBWA).

Talking to The Express Tribune, PBWA President Khurshid Qureshi said the reason behind this increase is that people who could not afford sacrificial animalslast year opted to buy shares instead.
He said that last year, around 50,000 animals were slaughtered in Islamabad, which grew to 55,000 this year. Meanwhile, last year Rawalpindi saw around 100,000 animals slaughtered on Eidul Azha, while this year the number increased to 112,000.Qureshi said that the rise in collective sacrifices caused a decline in the number of smaller animals like goats and sheep slaughtered.
Meanwhile, like every Eid, butchers increased their rates on Eidul Azha. Last year, butcherscharged Rs2,000 to Rs3,000 for slaughtering a goat or a sheep, while this year they asked for Rs2,500 to Rs4,000. The rate for a bull last year was Rs8,000 to Rs10,000, while this year it increased to the Rs9,000 to Rs12,000 range, depending on the size and weight of the animal, said Qureshi.
Oddly, there was a decline in the prices of animal hides.
In past years, the hide of a goat sold for up to Rs 600, while this year, the price range was Rs200 to Rs300. Similarly, lamb hides sold for Rs500 to Rs1,100 last year, while they only fetched a return of Rs400 to Rs600 this time. Bull hides sold for Rs2,000 to Rs4,000 last year, fell to Rs1,600 to Rs2,800 range.
Mohammad Sharif, who has been a leather trader for the past 10 years, said, “Compared to last year, we received more hides, but due to the lower prices we did not earn the profit we expected.”
According to him there is a certain mafia who decrease the prices for its own self interest.
