In the same week that news about a female dog nursing its puppies was found shot dead in Muar, Johor, in Damansara Perdana, a puppy with its legs broken and mouth taped was found in the Empire Damansara parking lot.
Luckily, the puppy was rescued by the hands of an animal lover, who posted details about the condition of the three-month-old frail animal found on June 22.
The user named Vicky Liew relayed on her Facebook how she and her friend came to find the puppy that was left in a paper bag.
The rescuers only discovered later on the puppy, a good Pomeranian breed, had lost its legs when taking it to the vet.
“This poor dog had been abused because both front legs were purposely broken by inhuman people!! Stay strong puppy!!!,” Vicky wrote.
How could anyone do this??
She then tried to hunt down the culprits who abused the puppy by reporting to the management in hopes they were able to track them down through the CCTV footage, however she reported thatEmpire Damansara was not being cooperative on the matter.
This is just heartbreaking!
“Write on Empire Damansara page to urge them to cooperate so the people who are working on this case can lodge a report to the Department Of Veterinary Services. Keep it viral and keep it going,” she urged the public after sharing it on Dog Lovers of Malaysia group.
The latest updates on the rescued puppy, now named Summer, is living in a new home with loving owner Sim Kian Theng, and shows that the animal had been discharged from the hospital and is recovering well.
“She will be healing soon! I need strong mentality!!! I committed 24hrs care for her!!!,” wrote Sim.
Kudos to good Samaritans like Sim and Vicky, however thus far, no updates have been shared regarding the Empire Damansara management lodging a report against animal abusers, nor statement of them taking action on the case, as well as increasing security in their parking lots with adequate CCTV footage, despite the complaints by netizens and fellow residents.
Last year, the Malaysian government passed the Animal Welfare Act 2015 – a new comprehensive Act with fines 100 times heavier for animal abuse cases. Offenders now face a minimum fine of RM20,000 and possible jail time.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A pregnant dog that was severely burned is doing much better after being taken in by a local animal rescue group.
“Someone did something unkind to this very sweet dog,” says Donna Casamento with Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
It’s something so unkind, it’s horrific to view. Nina, a terrier mix, has second to third degree burns on her chest, all the way down to her legs.
“It’s been a very very sad situation. We weren’t sure when we first got her how the burns happened,” said Casamento.
But Donna thinks Nina’s burns may have been intentional. And what makes this worse, she’s pregnant.
“Whether she walked into a fire on the ground, like a fire pit or was pushed into a fire pit. Dogs don’t walk into those kind of situations,” she said.”
Now the race is on to save the unborn dogs while Nina recovers. “It’s somewhat difficult for us to tell exactly if the puppies are still alive yet,” Casamento said.
Nina was brought up yesterday from Miami-Dade rescue. Veterinarians here are taking care of her around the clock. “Every couple of hours, she’s getting this applied to her and then several baths throughout the day,” said Donna. “We’re giving her pain medication about every three or four hours at this point.”
The hope is eventually to find her and her babies, a loving home. “In spite what she’s been through, all she wants to do is sit with her head in our lap and get love. This is a great dog,” she said.

BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) – Authorities in Bastrop County are looking for a man who allegedly dragged his horse for 100 yards leaving it with severe injuries.

On Nov. 10, a witness saw Mariano Villafuerta, 43, tie a horse to his truck in the 200 block of Mesa Drive in Del Valle and started to drive away.
The witness said Villafuerta accelerated to a high rate of speed with the horse still tied to the hitch of the truck. The horse had a difficult time keeping up, fell to its side and was dragged for about 100 yards.
According to the arrest warrant, Villafuerta then stopped the truck, got out and began kicking the horse in the neck until it stood up. Villafuerta then grabbed the horse by the lead rope and ran the horse down the driveway to the house in the 300 block of Mesa Drive.
The witness noticed that the horse’s left eye was damaged as well as the skin on his body. The deputy who arrived to take the report took pictures of the aforementioned injuries.
The witness said the horse apparently got out of Villafuerta’sproperty and was roaming around when Villafuertafound it.
The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office will charge Villafuertawith cruelty to livestock animals by tripping, which is a state jail felony.
As of Wednesday night, officials have not located Villafuerta.

On Tuesday, KEYE TV published a horrific case ofanimal crueltyinvolving a gorgeous horse who was nearly dragged to his death in Bastrop County, Texas.
The incident took place on November 10, the day that the suspect, Mariano Resendiz Villafuerta, is accused of attaching his horse to the back of his white, Ford F150 pickup and dragging him for over 150 yards.
“He was drug at a high speed until the horse couldn’t keep up,” “And then when the horse fell, he drug it.”
Investigators believe that Villafuerta was angry about something at the time, and took that rage out on the horse. According to KXAN News, the authorities were alerted to the horrific situation by a witness who claims to have watched the entire scene.
After the high speed dragging, the horse, now being called “Dragster,” was taken to a veterinary clinic for the multiple injuries which cover his once gorgeous coat.
Dragster is currently being cared for by the Meadow Haven Horse Rescue, where he is expected to recover.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Villafuerta, who is facing one count of animal cruelty, but as of yet, he is nowhere to be found.
Owenshad originally been arrested on December 6 and charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty, an offense that carries a maximum penalty of only 90 days in jail and an $800 fine.
“The felony charge comes with a much stiffer penalty if the suspect is convicted,” Yahya said.
In addition, Owensis now charged with two counts of driving under suspension and two counts of being a habitual traffic offender. The felony cruelty charge could bring Owens from six months to five years in prison. If convicted of multiple offenses, he may face significantly more time.
Why the shift from misdemeanor to felony charge? There seems to be only one answer. People like you — many, many people like you — used social media, e-mails, letters and phone calls to call for sterner charges for this harrowing crime. Greenville County heard the outcry, took a closer look and seems to have decided stronger charges were warranted.

A Heartwarming Reunion with Two Special Women
Andra Grace had two special visitors on December 19. Kaye Skinner and Jennefer Bullock, the two women who reported seeing Andra Grace being dragged behind the truck, were reunited with her.
According to the Justice for Andra Grace Facebook page, when Kaye and Jennefer saw the pickup truck go by them in the opposite direction, dragging a helpless dog behind it, they turned around to follow it. After the truck sped away without the dog, they searched the roadway until they found her.
Kaye and Jennefer called police and stayed by Andra Grace for the two hours it took for help to arrive. They covered her battered, bloody form with a jacket while trying to soothe her. It might break your heart a little to know that Kaye and Jennefer say poor Andra Grace was wagging her tail as they did what they could to help her.

Andra Grace is nowhappily settledin her new foster home, where her two foster parents are both veterinarians. She’s getting a lot of loving care and is well on her way to a contented and satisfying life. Likewise, her now-weaned puppies are in foster homes and can look forward to long, happy lives.

Your outrage, coupled with a deluge of phone calls and e-mails to Greenville County officials, appears to have convinced authorities to take a closer look at this case. Now Roger Owens is charged with a felony. The possible punishment he faces for this heinous act of cruelty is considerably increased.

On the day after Thanksgiving, two people witnessed something that horrified them — someone in a pickup truck was dragging a helpless dog down the road on a rope. The rope broke, leaving the dog, an emaciated female pit bull, to die by the road. The trail of blood indicated the poor dog had been dragged over a mile. Her injuries were extensive and grievous. Fortunately Animal Control got the dog to an animal hospital, where it is now receiving care and love.
The truck driver has been identified, and reportedly has at least one prior animal cruelty conviction, but incredibly he has only been charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty in this case.
However, South Carolina law also contains a felony animal cruelty provision applicable to anyone who:
“…tortures, torments, needlessly mutilates, cruelly kills, or inflicts excessive or repeated unnecessary pain or suffering upon any animal or by omission or commission causes the acts to be done…”
Please sign this petition asking 13th Judicial Circuit Solicitor W. Walter Wilkins to prosecute this case under the felony provision of South Carolina’s animal cruelty law, rather than as a slap-on-the-wrist misdemeanor as currently charged.

December 10, Life for a dog dubbed “Francis,” has been hard. When the biting, bitter cold hit St. Louis, Mo., what was formerly difficult became nearly life-ending.
Rescuers withStray Rescue of St. Louis came upon Francis on Tuesday; the beleaguered senior dog was clearly in distress and in need of immediate help.
Francis’ skeletal body was gently lifted from the frozen ground and he was carried to a vehicle which would transport him to an emergency veterinary team.
As the temperatures dip below freezing, our worries rise. During this extreme weather, the deck is stacked against even the healthiest of street dogs. Sadly, there are also other, more susceptible four-legged friends out there – senior dogs and puppies who really struggle to survive in the elements. As soon as Randy and Donna knew he was in the best hands possible, they were out the door and back in the rescue Jeep again.
The elderly shepherd, who is estimated to be 10 years of age, was placed on I.V. fluids, provided with oxygen and warmed with heated blankets.
The rescue agency captured video of Francis’ first moments at the veterinary hospital; it is painfully evident that the dog is defeated, exhausted and on the brink of nearly giving up altogether.
Francis is not yet out of the woods, but today, for the first time in far too long, he is warm, safe and receiving the compassion and kindness that he deserves.
Randy and Donna hit the streets like they do every day and, with the temperatures turning bitter cold, their typical sense of urgency was even greater. Responding to another call, they turned down an alley. As they drove, Donna shouted to stop the car. They simultaneously saw the frigid, defeated body of a Shepard Mix, and Randy jumped out of the car – knowing right away that this dog needed to get warm… immediately. Randy named him Franics, as in Franics of Assisi, patron saint of animals. This sweet old dog needs all the help he can get.

Horrifically emaciated dog, found near death, now safe in SPCA care.
An 18-month-old Shepherd-cross dog named Molly is alive against all odds after being rescued in one of the most horrific cruelty cases ever witnessed by the BC SPCA.
The RCMP in Port Hardy was called out on Nov. 25 in response to a complaint ofanimal cruelty. They discovered the extremely emaciated dog outside on her owner’s porch. “She was in critical condition, non-responsive and shivering, with a collar deeply embedded in her neck,” says Marcie Moriarty, the BC SPCA’s chief prevention and enforcement officer. “The constable immediately rushed Molly to a nearbyveterinary hospital, where staff provided emergency treatment to keep her alive and removed the embedded collar from her neck.”

Once stabilized, she was transported toNanaimo where the case was turned over to the BC SPCA for ongoing investigation. After receiving additional life-saving medical treatment, Molly has been placed in the care of an SPCA foster home as she recovers.
“She has gained some weight and is now able to walk, but she is still extremely emaciated,” says Moriarty. “She is getting care around the clock and we are very hopeful that, despite the incredible odds against her, she will make a full recovery.”
Moriarty says it is impossible to comprehend how anyone could allow a dog to slowly, and excruciatingly, starve to death. “We rescue thousands of animals from heartbreaking situations every year at the SPCA, but cases like this are particularly shocking,” she says.
“The fact that Molly has survived is a true miracle and we are so grateful to the RCMP, the veterinary staff in Port Hardy and Nanaimo and all those who have played a role in her rescue and recovery.”
Recovering Well
Molly has a long recovery process ahead and is expected to stay in foster care for several weeks before being placed in a new home.
The BC SPCA is continuing its investigation and will be recommending charges of animal cruelty against Molly’s former owners.

In April, 2012, an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged with animal cruelty.Darius Ewing poured lighter fluid on a four-month-old puppy, then flicked a lit cigarette at him. The police report stated that a group of people watched and laughed as Ewing threw his lit cigarette at the dog.

The Labrador puppy suffered from third degree burns on more than 70 percent of his body. His poor little body could not handle it, and ten days after being set on fire, the puppy died.
The puppy was named “Justice” by his rescuers, DFW Rescue Me, since that is what they hoped he would get.
But that does not seem to be the case.
The man who lit Justice on fire, Darius Ewing, pleaded guilty to one count of felony animal cruelty. Ewingentered a plea on Tuesday, agreeing to a five-year sentence. The judge on the case, Larry Mitchell, reduced his sentence to two years. WFFA.comreports that the judge “lowered it to two years, saying prosecutors failed to prove that a ‘deadly weapon’ was used.”
Three others also pleaded guilty to one count each of felony animal cruelty. Darius Carey, 25, was sentenced to two years in jail. Richard Valentine, 25, and Adrian Ayers, 21, each received 15 months in jail.

In Texas, State Jail Felonies are punishable with a fine of up to $10,000 and/or a jail sentence of up to 10 years.
Jonnie England of the Texas Humane Alliance says all who were present for sentencing in the courtroom were shocked. “There was just no justice for Justice here today,” England said.
Prosecutors are considering an appeal for Ewing’s case.
Animal advocate group Hand4Paws wrote a petition asking that Darius Ewing receive the maximum sentence. The petition received over 37,000 signatures. The petition was sent to the judge on the case, Larry Mitchell.
“This is just heartbreaking…I will never comprehend what fun, humans get by torturing something that can’t speak for itself; nay scream out for help!! All I do know is they are cowards, bullies, always picking on those they know can never tell; of the pain inflicted upon them. I hope the heartless bastards that did this suffer third degree burns at some point in their pitiful lives; for only then will they realise the pain they caused to Indy. I will be praying for his good health to return & hope he soon finds a loving forever home! Watch the video, look into his eye’s, see his pain? It just bloody kills me inside, that I can’t take away his pain, knowing his suffering was caused by human hands…well the hands of some sick evil, cold-hearted psycho’s; to be precise. On July 5th, 2013, a 2-year-old Staffordshire named Indy, was found wandering the streets of Van Nuys, Calif. He was badly injured from what seems to be a cruel July 4th fireworks prank. Indy was found with third-degree burns over half of his body.

When the dog was found on the streets, he was taken to East Valley Animal Shelter and on July 9 S.T.A.R.T Shelter Transport Animal Rescue Team stepped in to save Independence – Indy for short.
Veterinarians believe that fireworks were strapped to the dog’s body and then lit.
“It was a deliberate and horrific act. It was done out of malice,” S.T.A.R.T. Rescue co-founder Rene Ruston told NBC Los Angeles. “It’s hard to see a dog like that in so much agonizing pain and he doesn’t deserve it.”
According to Dr. Daniel Slaton, fire from the fireworks went down Indy’s legs. The dog tried escaping the strapped pyrotechnics but as he walked, he burnt the bottom of his feet.
Indy is currently being cared for atWestlake Village Animal Hospital. Dr. Richard Grossman, well-known burn specialist, founder of the Grossman Burn Center, and animal advocate, was called in to help with Indy’s surgeries. Indy is expected to stay at the hospital for approximately six weeks to repair the extensive damage caused to his body and legs.
Indy is expected to recover from the burns. Sadly he will be left with some disabilities and will need rehabilitation. Eventually he will recover and move into a forever home where he will be loved unconditionally.
S.T.A.R.T. is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those who injured Indy.

“WTF…It never ceases to amaze me just how cruel humans can be; it is we humans that are the animals!. Somebody knows who this dog belonged to, they don’t just bloody appear from know where. A one-year-old pit bull was rescued in Kentucky after having been found tied to a fence with his snout duct-taped shut. A reward is being offered for information on who did this.

“He clearly, in my opinion, was a bait dog and this is not the first time being thrown into a ring,” said Rebecca Eaves, director of The Arrow Fund. “Basically, a dog got him here, broke his canines and pushed them in.”
The pup, now namedFrodo, is being treated at the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital, where he is being pumped full of antibiotics and painkillers. One of his legs will have to be amputated because of injuries, but staff say he’s lucky to be alive.
“It’s a shame what they do to these animals, and I’m emotional because I’m sick of this,” Eaves said. “This is a sweet, sweet puppy, that was just shown a life of horror.”
Frodo was found on the 2600 block of West Kentucky Street in Louisville. Investigators have no idea who tied him to the fence, and are urging the public to come forward.
“Right now, we want to plead to the community,” said Donald Robinson with Louisville Metro Animal Services. “You can remain anonymous. Please call our tip line, let us know if you’ve seen anything, if you’ve seen this particular animal out in that particular neighbourhood.”
“We want to put this person behind bars,” Eaves stated. “Dog-fightingis rampant here in Louisville and everybody needs to be serious about it. Don’t be afraid. Turn them in.”
“The video regards this news post, is below, along with another version of events (In italics) which if true, do not add up with the news posted below! I know one thing, no animal deserves to be hanged via a lead then slammed into wall; therefore that employee should be punished. If (as it states below the video) the dog had bitten several employees, then it should have had a muzzle on when being handled; that was no reason to abuse the dog! But why has it taken a year for the video to surface? Didn’t the person who took the video think it should have been handed to police straight away; so the employee could have been punished? ORLANDO, Fla. — An employee at a local veterinarian’s office has been fired after she was caught on camera slamming a dog against a wall.
WFTV discovered the employee, Stefanie Stasse, was fired following Thursday’s story.
Friday, the office’s owner said he wants her prosecuted, after defending her Thursday.
Dr. Mohammad Hassan claims he had to go by what his employees told him about the incident, and was also under advice from his lawyer not to say otherwise.

Even though he said Thursday the incident happened a year and a half ago, Friday he said he doesn’t know when the video was taken.
Hassan, who stood up for his employee after alarming video of vet tech Stasse was posted on YouTube, said she is now fired. “None of this really adds up, clearly there is something amiss!“
Hassan said he is going to press charges. “If she should serve time in jail, I don’t mind that,” Hassan said.
The Orange CountySheriff’s Office investigated the alleged abuse and is turning the case over to the state attorney’s office.
The video shows the dog being slammed against a wall as many as five times.
Hassan said Thursday Stasse had to take extreme measures to control the dog and it wasn’t hurt.
“They are hollow walls there, very soft, it’s not a concrete wall that if you hit the dog you’re going to break his back,” Hassan had said Thursday.
Friday, Hassan said his change of tune was because “Yesterday all I had was the statements from the employees.”
Three former employees contacted Channel 9 after the story aired Thursday.
Hassan said he fired Sheena Torres, but she claims she quit after seeing abuse and mistreatment.
“I was not fired, I walked out. I walked out. He was angry with me because I told him, ‘Listen, this cat has been here all day without treatment,'” Torres said.
Torres even complained to Animal Services. Reports show the officer found it hard to determine the validity of some claims because the officer was not a veterinarian.
“I just hope my clients don’t hold this against me personally or my good staff,” Hassan said.
Viewers were so upset over the video, they even posted a petition to fire Stasse and close the clinic. (Petition below the video)
It will be up to the state attorney’s office, once it gets the case, to press charges.

The Vet states that this video was placed on youtube by an ex disgruntled employee who was fired. He also alleges that the video was tampered with and pieced together and it does not show the entire incident. He states that the incident is 10 minutes in its entirety and if we were to see the entire video, we would agree with what this employee did.
Let me laugh first… lol! Now… seriously!?! I could care less if a disgruntled ex employee posted this crime of animal abuse on youtube. BUT… I do have thoughts about the lady depicted in the cell phone video committing the crime of animal abuse. WHO…… I say WHO in his or her right state of mind would pick a dog up off the floor and hang it by its leash and SLAM it repeatedly into the wall!?!
This is the employee who should have been fired but instead the vet supports the employee for doing this and she remained there after this incident and was employed there as of yesterday when this was broadcast on the news for this incident is being investigated now. I have to ask….. this is one video that was made public….. what happened there all those other days and how many animals received abusive treatment there???

Video: Dog slammed against wall at Orlando pet clinic
State Attorney‘s office investigating possible animal abuse
ORLANDO, Fla. – Allegations of dog abuse at an Orlando animal hospital have now forced the state attorney’s office to consider charging the clinic’s manager after graphic video showed her slamming a small dog against a wall by its leash.
The woman seen slamming the small dog against a wall — at least four times — is the manager at the Emergency Pet Hospital on White Road in Orlando, said Veterinarian Dr. Mohammad Hassan, and she is still working at the clinic.
The cellphone video lasts 32 seconds and was posted on YouTube by a woman who received it from people who worked at the hospital.
That tipster, who asked to remain anonymous, calls what is seen on the video “abuse” and said “it’s horrendous.”
“There’s right and wrong, and you just don’t do it,” said the tipster. “There are proper ways to handle things. This poor dog doesn’t have a voice. This poor dog couldn’t go and tell his owner that he was being mistreated.”
On the video, the dog yelps and has a cone around its head, indicating it may have recently underwent surgery. The manager wrestles with the dog’s tiny collar and when the dog appears uncooperative.
“I was very upset when I saw the video,” said Hassan. “It does look very bad because the video was altered and trimmed.”
Hassan said what we don’t see on the short video clip is what happened in the 10 minutes before the manager lost her patience. He said the dog bit several workers, was uncontrollable and his manager made several different attempts to handle the dog.
When asked if there is a better way to take care of that dog, Hassan said, “There’s always a better way.”
As far as this being a case of animal abuse, Hassan does not agree.
“If you see the video as-is, I’m sure it can be considered animal abuse,” said Hassan. “If you see the whole video, you’re going to realize what happened there happens everywhere all the time.”
Hassan said the video is over a year and a half old and believes whoever leaked it has a grudge against him because they were fired.
It’s unclear who owns the dog or if it was injured in the attack, but Hassan asserts it was not.
