Evil Bastard….needs to be put down!!! What’s going to stop him getting & abusing another sentient being??? We need an Animal Abuse Registry, a global one that will help stop scum like this from ever owning an animal again!! If a person can beat then slash a dog with a knife, it’s not a one-off, it’s the owners habitual lifestyle. This man, & those like him have to be stopped…but by who??? Only a Global Animal Registry, accessed by all animal control centres & foster/adopt shelters, can help to stop other animals facing the same fate! If he decides to adopt or foster or gain access to shelters…this guy will just fade into the background with another dog from wherever & beat the shit out of it again! We can only help stop this by demanding a Global Animal Abuse Register; nothing else will work & stop monsters like him, from harming more sentient beings!!

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – A Green Bay man is accused of badly beating and stabbing his dog.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called after the suspect, Jacob Stephanus, 27, took the dog to Packerland Veterinary Clinic on Thursday.

The complaint says the white pit bull or boxer mix, between 9 and 12 months old, had several deep cuts, broken teeth, and an eye so badly injured it had to be removed.

Stephanus told the vet the dog was a stray and he was trying to help the dog for several days.

The vet said they didn’t look like injuries from a dog fight because there were no bite marks, and were more consistent with abuse.

Eventually, Stephanus admitted it was his dog. He said he was tired after working for 13 hours and got angry at the dog for being excited, and he struck it with a broom handle and slashed it with a knife.

Stephanus is charged with felony mistreatment of an animal. Jail records indicate he was released Friday on a $2,000 bond. “this is ridiculous, what’s to stop him doing it again?? NOTHING!!!!!”

Graphic Video: California Towns Ban Bullhooks For Elephants

Comments Off on Graphic Video: California Towns Ban Bullhooks For Elephants

“Seriously, if you were caught using a bullhook, stick or broom etc. on a dog, cat or horse etc. whipping or poking it until it bleeds; I’m sure, you would be charged with animal abuse; & quite rightly so! These bullhooks are used to control elephants; via pain, just as various other weapons are used for the rest of the circus animals! Elephants may have thick skin, but did you know they can feel a fly land on them?? So how do you think a bullhook feels to an elephant when it’s used aggressively by an impatient trainer or handlers mucking out stalls etc. I bet it hurts like hell! Bullhooks are used to keep circus elephants in check, by tugging on sensitive parts of the elephant like their ear’s & gouging at their legs to make them perform unnatural tricks for the paying audience! Elephants were not made to entertain humans, which is why they are forced by the bullhook & electric prods (verified on undercover surveillance) to entertain! How else would one get an elephant to lift off front or rear feet, walk around a big ball with one foot on it, the other turning it, or how about getting them to do a handstand; using their trunks as a balancing aid? I’m pretty sure they don’t conform to words alone, or snacks! These elephants are performing stunts in such a way as they would never, in the wild; their bodies are simply not made to do balancing acts, it’s so unnatural for them to even consider doing tricks…but a bullhook used by a human, aimed at the right place, makes it much easier to get the job done, by causing pain. They’re not dogs who can learn a trick within half an hour using treats alone. Plus the tricks elephants are forced to do; adds injuries to their ailments later in life!!!bull hook

“Those that intentionally inflict pain & suffering & enjoy carrying out their sickening hold on animals, are not worthy of being called animal trainers or handlers etc.; they are good for one thing; picking up the mess after said animal has been to the toilet!! If they can yank an elephant round, how do the treat their family pets? They shouldn’t be or in the care of any animal; if they don’t mind whacking an elephant around its body, for simply getting a verbal command right!! Torture devices can be used right under the noses of the people, paying to watch the elephants or other animals at the circus; paying customers have no idea the animals are suffering; whilst performing ridiculous tricks! Innocent looking walking sticks can be used to enforce pain, yet they look totally harmless to the distanced crowd! However, they are anything but innocent, a simple walking stick can be turned into a torture device used on any animals whilst performing etc. Props like this can have spiked nails in one end that the trainers uses to control the animals! Those watching the performance wouldn’t be able to see nails in sticks etc…they are simply too far away; but it still looks so innocent to those watching!”

“To be honest I’m astounded that more elephants haven’t attacked, killed their trainers or gone on a rampage; like several have over the years, due to the constant abuse from humans carrying  bullhooks or other items, such as a walking cane, filled with spiked nails, that when touched, cause pain etc! Could it be that elephants who were caught in the wild, remember the heartache of being taken from family & the torture chamber called the Phajaan? I’m sure those that were caught wild will never ever forget the pain of being taken from its mother & family! But it’s the Phajaan, the poor little elephant will remember forever, because that was home where he was a victim to horrendous abuse! The Phajaan is where all wild caught small elephants are horrifically tortured daily; used for one reason other than a horror chamber…it breaks the spirit of the elephant!

Once they are in the Phajaan they can’t turn or even lay down; heavy duty rope or chains cause terrible suffering & injuries! Each foot is tied down so tightly to stop them having any chance of hurting the people who are torturing them. Rope is tied around the neck & body so there is no way they can escape! Food & water is used as a training tool too (it still is being used today) the elephants get neither if they haven’t complied with the human commands being barked at them all day for weeks or months! The elephant will stay tied in the phajaan, being whipped, poked & prodded daily to the point of bleeding from  wounds!! It stops, only when & depending on how quickly the humans can break the little elephants spirit! That is what the phajaan is made for…to literally break the elephant down, both physically & mentally, until it has no fight left in it & the elephant starts to obey the human commands!! Captured young, these elephants have to be submissive before they can be trained for log work or to be sent somewhere to be trained as a circus elephant! Nobody will pay for an elephant if it will not obey human commands. The Phajaan is used as a medieval cage of wood & it succeeds in breaking the most hardened spirit of an elephant…over time the elephant just won’t be able to stand the beatings or go on without water or food; he must submit to stop the pain & he realises; he is now a slave to humans!”

“I have a theory about why most captured elephants try not to retaliate after a beating with a bullhook etc. They say elephants have fantastic memories…well perhaps it’s the thought of being taken back to that torture chamber, where the elephants endured terrible suffering & beatings…in the Phajaan; at the hands of humans!! The horror of that place must be tattooed in the memory of every elephant that suffered there. The elephants don’t understand they will never return to that horrible place if they don’t conform. The Phajaan & the humans, who mentally & physically broke them using such weapons like the bullhooks, will stay with the elephants forever! They may be in a different place, but it is still the humans who control them! Do the elephants even know their own power & strength against humans; probably not, because it was forced out of them in the Phajaan? They only know that humans are the leaders & with their torture tools, can still physically beat & hurt the elephants, if they don’t comply!!”

“Could fear alone stop the elephants from causing harm to their trainers or owners, after all, thats all the elephants know about humans; how much pain they can cause! When they are shipped off to do other work, where all elephants know of humans is they are to be feared & must be obeyed in order not to receive punishment, I wonder if the new elephant looks at the other elephants old wounds & realises; that they too came through the same cruel path!  So do they actually behave & perform out of fear? Fear of going back to the Phajaan perhaps ensures most elephants comply! What do you think?”

“Please watch the video below, to help understand what elephants endure through life. A circus elephant could have come through the same route; tortured & abused in the Phajaan, their spirits forever broken at the hands of humans!”

OAKLAND, Calif. The circus will stop coming to Oakland in a few years after a tool used by elephant handlers was banned in the city.

The Oakland City Council earlier this week unanimously approved an ordinance outlawing bullhooks. The instrument resembles a fireplace poker, with a sharp hook on one end that is used by trainers to control the animals.

Oakland is now the second California city, after Los Angeles, to ban the use of a bullhooks. The circus will stop performing in Los Angeles in summer 2016. The Oakland ban takes effect in 2017.

“(That) will be the last time we will be in Oakland because we can’t perform without the elephants,” said Stephen Payne, spokesman for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

But the circus is still holding out hope about having future performances in Oakland. “We may see if the Oakland City Council wants to reconsider,” he said. Payne said the move is a loss for people who enjoy the circus. An estimated 30,000 people attended the Oakland circus over six days last summer, he said.

Here are the images of the training of wild elephants that are caught for the tourist trade. Please remind yourself and tell others that by visiting elephant camps you are supporting this!

The Oakland Zoo and animal rights activists supported the ordinance, saying bullhooks are cruel and inhumane. Other U.S. cities to ban bullhooks include Miami Beach, Florida.

Proponents say the tool is designed to give trainers dominance over elephants and does not hurt or harm the animal. “A lot of the information that was presented to the Oakland City Council by the proponents was designed to distort our animal care,” Payne said.

Oakland Zoo Chief Executive Officer Joel Parrott said the practice hearkens back to the turn of the 20th century and has no place in modern times.

“If I suggested using a bullhook on giraffes to get them through gates or to stab tigers to get them to do what I want them to do, everybody would react,” Parrott said. “The only reason it’s acceptable is we’ve grown used to it with the elephants.”

Despite its thickness, an elephant’s skin is very sensitive, to the point where it can feel a fly land on its back. Surprisingly, it is also sensitive to the sun, and baby elephants are even known to sunburn. The species’ notorious love for mud and baths helps alleviate both of these problems.

  • Elephants can be either “right-handed” or “left-handed,” and this is often shown by greater wear on one tusk as opposed to the other. Dogs and Cats are also often right or left “handed”.
  • Unlike the rhinoceros, whose horn is made of hair-like keratin, elephant tusks are actually overgrown incisors. Incredibly long, at least one-third of an elephant’s tusk is inside the animal’s head, outside of view. The outside, ivory part of the tusk is, like its other teeth, comprised of dentine surrounded by a layer of enamel. An elephant’s tusks never stop growing.
  • The heaviest tusks recorded weigh about 220 pounds per tusk, while the longest ever discovered were 11 feet long! Tusks today are generally much smaller due to the ivory trade and poaching keeping them from reaching such mammoth sizes.
  • In a rare example of unanimity, the whole world banned the trade in ivory in 1989 with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). In the decade preceding the agreement, more than half of Africa’s elephants had been killed in order to harvest the ivory, and today, poaching continues. In fact, in 2011, only a portion of the largest seizures collected found in excess of 50 thousand pounds of poached ivory. To combat this, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) had proposed regulations in February 2014 that would have placed “a near-total ban on anything made with ivory moving in and out of the U.S.” However, the sweeping regulation had many concerned that it would inhibit the transportation of “old ivory,” such as that found in antique pieces of art and musical instruments. After a public outcry, particularly from concert musicians who often need to travel with their antique, ivory-fitted instruments to perform, FWS carved out an exception in May 2014.
  • Today there are somewhere between 400,000 and 600,000 African elephants remaining, and, unless things change, they are predicted to become locally extinct within 50 years

THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION IS FAILING EUROPEAN ANIMALS

Comments Off on THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION IS FAILING EUROPEAN ANIMALS

When meat is imported into the European Union the law stipulates that the animal must have been slaughtered in line with EU legislation.

However, when EU animals are exported, the same rules are not afforded to them and instead they can face brutal treatment and long drawn out slaughter.

Every year three million European animals are sent on long, stressful journeys to be fattened or slaughtered outside the EU. A vast number of these go to the Middle East where Compassion’s recent investigation, in partnership with Animals Australia, has uncovered immeasurable suffering.

Please take a moment to watch the film and slideshow below to find out more about this deplorable trade. Be warned; some of the film is distressing to watch, but it’s essential concerned citizens find out where European animals are ending their journeys.

Take action against the EU’s cruel live animal export trade

Please take a moment to watch and share our investigation. Warning: Due to its upsetting nature, you may need to verify that you are over 18 to watch the film.

When European farm animals are exported to non-EU countries every shred of protection they once received in their place of birth is rendered meaningless.

After enduring long, exhausting journeys by land and sea they may face terrifying ordeals at slaughter.

Animals are dragged by their limbs, bound up with ropes, pinned down by groups of men, beaten with metal rods, suspended upside down for extended periods of time, and eventually slaughtered in unacceptable ways that leave them conscious for many minutes after having their throats cut.

The European Commission has the power to take steps to stop this, but as each day passes without action more and more animals continue to suffer.

  • The European Commission must work towards ending the live export trade and if necessary replacing it with a trade in meat.
  • While a trade in exporting live animals continues, the European Commission must implement a scheme that will guarantee exported animals are treated in ways that prevent the worst of the suffering.
  • The European Commission must provide practical support to countries that import live animals from the EU in order that they can improve transport, handling and slaughter methods. This will not only improve the welfare of EU animals but also of any other animals slaughtered in those countries.

Please take action today. Email the Commission and call for an end to this suffering.

“Watch the videos below. if you can stomach them, is it fair for animals to be treated this way? YOU have the power to help stop this; please use it & stop AG-Gag Laws!!”

Backers of the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation anti-videoing legislation — “ag-gag” — have already lost the war, even if the legislation passes. Especially if it passes.

Their best hope is to change strategy.

Senate Bill 1337, which has passed the Senate, bars a person who “without the facility owner’s express consent or pursuant to judicial process or statutory authorization, makes audio or video recordings of the conduct of an agricultural production facility’s operations.” More specifically, it’s intended to ban (though various existing laws already theoretically do) the videotaping of what happens to livestock in concentrated animal feeding operations.

This is significant in Idaho, home to some very large CAFO operations in the Magic Valley and southwest. The new bill would punish violators with up to a year in jail or a $5,000 fine; critics note that’s the same as the state penalty for animal abuse.

Similar legislation has been proposed, most often failing to pass, in more than a dozen states; a Utah law is being challenged in the courts.

The Idaho bill was specifically prompted by a video shot in 2012 at Bettencourt Dairy at Hansen, showing workers beating on livestock. Last week another video shot at an Idaho CAFO, which added animal sexual abuse to the mix, was released. Both have had many, many views, and they’ve gone viral on social media.

We can’t know if the videos alone would have generated massive international attention. We do know the videos, combined with legislation to ban shooting more of them, has sent interest in the subject sky high in news reports nationally and overseas.

The story is irresistible: An attempt to keep the lid on what people have already seen. But memories aren’t so easily erased. Nor is the technology, which keeps moving in the direction of disclosure, as privacy advocates regularly remind us.

Among other responses to the bill are petitions — some inside Idaho, some by national animal advocacy groups. Petitions usually do little by themselves, but they can assist organization efforts, and they keep the subject visible.

Not only are smaller and relatively hard-core groups like Mercy for Animals, which released the Bettencourt videos, involved in this, but also larger and better-funded groups like the Humane Society of the United States. The subject of CAFO livestock has gone mainstream.

If you doubt that, watch the latest series offering from Netflix: The satirical but pointed “Farmed and Dangerous.” The initial plot hook involves an exploding cow. Once issues like this get into cultural discussion, national regulation and legislation may, in time, follow. It’s in the spotlight now.

The Magic Valley has benefited recently from arrival of a number of food processors who came there largely because of the easy supply of dairy products. Don’t be surprised if boycotts of some of them start — and lead to business responses. To see this playing out, Google the Wiese Brothers Farms in Wisconsin and read about the videos and other reports that led a frozen pizza company to cut all ties with them.

Nor is that all. If SB 1337 is signed into law (as seems likely), watch for this: An activist who deliberately violates it, shooting more video, intending to get caught, and insisting on a very public trial that could draw more national and international attention, kicking in the cycle all over again.

The problem for livestock operations is not insoluble. The simplest out is to improve and closely monitor operations, then throw open the doors for public viewing.

Some CAFO advocates have argued that much of what has been shown on the videos has been unusual aberrations, that most livestock is treated better before slaughter than the videos suggest. An open-door policy would be the one practical way to prove it.

Some of what inevitably happens in the best of meat processing businesses is of course difficult for many people to stomach, but the operators could fairly argue that if you want your meat at the supermarket, this is how it has to get there. Since most people do want their steaks and burgers, the argument might settle down, on at least higher ground than it occupies now.

Legislation has its uses. But CAFOs here have among other things a public relations problem, and these kinds of laws seldom are much help with that.

Four workers at a dairy farm that was supplying cheese to DiGiorno Pizza are being charged with a total of 11 counts of criminal animal cruelty. Each count is punishable by up to nine months in jail and $10,000 in fines.

The charges stem from shocking animal abuse captured on a hidden-camera video by Mercy For Animals at a Wisconsin dairy farm late last year. Abelardo Jaimes, Crescencio Pineda, Lucia Martinez, and Misael Monge-Minero were charged with violating the state’s animal cruelty statute after they were caught on video viciously kicking, beating, whipping, dragging and stabbing cows at Wiese Brothers Farms in Greenleaf, Wisconsin.

MFA praises the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and district attorney’s office for taking swift and decisive action in pursuing justice for these abused and exploited animals.

Mercy For Animals is calling on Nestlé to adopt meaningful animal welfare guidelines, including zero tolerance for kicking, punching and shocking cows; requiring suppliers to prohibit painful and unnecessary mutilations of animals; and requiring suppliers to provide a safe, clean and sanitary environment for cattle. Tens of thousands of consumers have signed a petition at SliceOfCruelty.com, urging Nestlé to implement such policies, since the investigation’s release.

“These criminal charges should be a wake-up call that heartbreaking animal abuse runs rampant at DiGiorno cheese suppliers. Swift action must be taken to end this unspeakable cruelty. Nestlé has the power and responsibility to implement meaningful policies to end some of the worst forms of animal abuse in the dairy industry,” said MFA’s executive director, Nathan Runkle. “No socially responsible corporation should support dairy operations that torture animals.”

Cruelty Critics

“The video captures workers engaged in numerous serious acts of direct physical abuse and overt brutality—they whip, beat, slap, kick, stab and yell profanity at the cows. … There is a culture of serious neglect and mistreatment of animals in this facility, and the animals are suffering. This must stop.”

Dr. Debra Teachout

“There is no question in my mind, as a veterinarian experienced with farmed animals, including cows, that much of what was being done to the cows was inhumane, brutal and almost certainly a violation of the anti-cruelty statutes of many if not all states.”

Dr. Nedim Buyukmihci

“Dragging live cows, and completely suspending them with the cow lift is severe animal abuse. The actions of these people went beyond rough handling and escalated to the level of cruelty. Kicking, beating, and hard whipping of downed cows is abusive.”

Dr. Temple Grandin

“It is abuse to beat, kick or whip an animal that cannot get up. Hitting an animal in the face is particularly painful. The fact that cows in other scenes are beaten or kicked in the head and face demonstrates the workers have either learned or have been trained that this bothers the animals more than hitting them on other areas of their bodies.”

By Dr. James Reynolds

“Workers were observed to hit, kick and whip downer cows on multiple occasions. Cows were hit in their cervical (neck), thoracic, lumbar, and head regions using hands, ropes, and a thin plastic pipe. All of these actions would have unnecessary and unjustifiable pain and suffering.”

Proposed Sale Of ‘Puppy Doe’ Figurine Upsets Animal Activists

Comments Off on Proposed Sale Of ‘Puppy Doe’ Figurine Upsets Animal Activists

Monday, January 6, 2014 11:32 PM EST -By LISA BACKUS STAFF WRITER

The proposed sale of a figurine of “Puppy Doe,” a young pit bull mix who Massachusetts authorities say was tortured by a man later found in a New Britain hotel room is drawing the ire of animal welfare advocates.

Puppy Doe, a pit bull that faced horrifically brutal torture, had to be euthanized because of her injuries. Police are now searching for her abuser. | Animal Rescue League of Boston

The Puppy Doe case drew national media attention after the severely injured dog was found in Quincy, Mass. and had to be put to sleep due to the torture that was inflicted on the young female dog named Kiya by one of her former owners. Radoslaw Czerkawski, 32, of Quincy, Mass, pleaded not guilty in December to 12 counts of animal cruelty, and one count of misleading a police investigation in the case after he was found in a New Britain hotel room in October.

Czerkawski is also wanted for larcenies involving a New Bedford, Mass church. He is currently being held without bail as a flight risk, according to the Norfolk State’s Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts which is prosecuting the Puppy Doe case.

Herobuilders, an Oxford, Connecticut-based action figure company owned by Emil Vicale, announced Sunday they would be producing a figurine of the dog estimated to be one to two years old at the time of her death with 10 percent of the proceeds going to animal welfare groups. “I heard about the story and thought it would be a good thing,” Vicale said Monday. “I wanted to make a donation in Puppy Doe’s name.”

But animal welfare advocates who have been raising money in the dog’s name and staging peaceful protests outside the Norfolk courthouse when Czerkawski appears are appalled at the idea, said Deanna Terminiello of Leominster, Mass. “I was shocked,” Terminiello said when she saw Facebook posts promoting the product. “To see that made me sick that someone is trying to make a profit off of a dog that was tortured.”Several other animal welfare advocates also posted similar comments on Terminiello’s Facebook page, “The Truth About The Puppy Doe Vigil,” which has close to 300 members.

The figurines which will go into production this week can be purchased for $29.95. Vicale, who will only produce 2,000 of the resin statues, will donate 10 percent of the profits between the Animal Rescue League of Boston, which is involved in the Puppy Doe case, and the national ASPCA.

Vicale said he expects to make about $10 per figurine after he donates $3 per figurine to the two animal welfare groups. “We are not a charitable organization but we are trying to do something good,” Vicale said. A spokesperson for the Animal Rescue League of Boston said they had not been notified by Homebuilders of the potential donation but confirmed they had received other donations in the name of Puppy Doe. “If someone wants to give to the Animal Rescue League of Boston we recommend that they give directly to our organization,” said Ami Bowers, director of marketing for the group.“They could be giving us the proceeds but at this point we don’t know because we haven’t heard from them.”

A spokesperson for the Connecticut state Humane Society of the United States which offers rewards in animal abuse cases and help in prosecuting animal cruelty cases applauded the sale of the figurines. “It does seem like a well intentioned effort to raise awareness and help fund groups that support animal welfare,” said Ami Hornish, the director of the Connecticut chapter of the HSUS.

But Terminiello, who along with others helped raise $2,500 to donate to the Quincy animal shelter after the dog’s death and who attended a protest in December at the courthouse called the sale of the figurines “sickening.” “This is not about fame, it’s not about fortune,” she said. “Anyone who would profit off this dog is unimaginable.” David Traub, a spokesperson for the Norfolk State’s Attorney’s Office said Czerkawski is due back in court Feb. 11.

TAIJI TRAGEDY CONTINUES: Dolphins continue to die!

Comments Off on TAIJI TRAGEDY CONTINUES: Dolphins continue to die!

December 21, 2013 by Ric O’Barry, Earth Island Institute

I’ve been in Taiji since last week, working closely with Sakura and other Japanese activists who are visiting.  My friend Satoshi, head of Flippers Japan, is coming to visit here soon.

TAIJI TRAGEDY CONTINUES

The good news is that there is a growing movement of Japanese animal rights activists who agree with us that the dolphin hunts in Taiji are cruel and should end.  They are conducting demonstrations in Tokyo and coming to Taiji to see the dolphin hunts for themselves.

Sakura has been posting updates from Taiji for the past three months in both Japanese and English (including on our Dolphin Project Facebook Page).

She is really dedicated, talking to every Japanese tourist who comes to visit Taiji about the dolphin hunts.  We wish we could clone her!

All this activity in Japan gives me hope for the future.

I need hope right now.  The dolphin hunts here are still very ghastly and would make anyone sick.

Some other good news:  the dolphin killers have announced they will be stopping hunts on their annual end-of-year break, from Dec. 24th through January 4th.

So at least some dolphins and whales will get a respite for the holidays.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, too.  We cannot give up our efforts to stop the dolphin hunts here in Taiji and throughout Japan.

We should draw strength from our progress so far – we have accomplished quite a bit since 2003 when I first saw the dolphin hunts in Taiji for myself.

The Earth Island Dolphin Project Team and I will continue the effort for as long as it takes.  I can guarantee to you that we will not give up!

If you would like to help us with a donation, that would be great!

If you are helping us with your volunteer work and spreading the word, my deepest thanks.

Take care and happy holidays to you and yours from all of us at Earth Island Institute and the Dolphin Project!

ORCAS AND DOLPHINS DO NOT BELONG IN CAPTIVITY!
Orcas and Dolphins Do Not Belong in Captivity!

The recent documentaries Blackfish and The Cove show that putting dolphins and orcas in captivity is unethical and cruel, ripping them from their families that they would normally grow up with and depriving them of the freedom of the open ocean, instead confining them to small concrete tanks to do tricks for dead fish.

LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS ISSUE

Dolphins have evolved over millions of years, adapting perfectly to life in the ocean. They are intelligent, social and self-aware, exhibiting evidence of a highly developed emotional sense. Here are just a few of the issues with captivity:

Captures of dolphins are traumatic and stressful and can result in injury and death of dolphins. The numbers of dolphins that die during capture operations or shortly thereafter are never revealed in dolphinariums or swim-with-dolphins programs. Some facilities even claim their dolphins were “rescued” from the ocean and cannot be released. This claim is almost invariably false.

Training of dolphins is often deliberately misrepresented by the captive dolphin industry to make it look as if dolphins perform because they like it. This isn’t the case. They are performing because they have been deprived of food.

Most captive dolphins are confined in minuscule tanks containing chemically treated artificial seawater. Dolphins in a tank are severely restricted in using their highly developed sonar, which is one of the most damaging aspects of captivity. It is much like forcing a person to live in a hall of mirrors for the rest of their life – their image always bouncing back with no clear direction in sight.

Dolphins and whales have been shown by recent scientific research to be sensitive with likely more ranges of emotions than humans, with culture that is handed down through generations, and personal names.  They deserve our respect and the right to remain in the wild, free from harassment and harm.

Earth Island Institute’s campaign to protect dolphins and whales focuses on stopping the killing of these animals in the wild in places like Japan, Indonesia, the Faroe Islands and the Solomon Islands, as well as stopping the blood dolphin$ trade to dolphinariums around the world.  In fact, these dolphin hunts are often supported by the dolphin trade to catch some individuals for captivity, while the remainder are slaughtered.

Santa Fe Police Discover Gruesome Case Of Animal Cruelty During Drug Bust

Comments Off on Santa Fe Police Discover Gruesome Case Of Animal Cruelty During Drug Bust

“Sick POS…need to pay with jail time, for the animals they tortured & need to be removed from decent society; so they can’t harm or torture any more animals.”

SANTA FE, Texas – Santa Fe police say a drug bust led to the discovery of some horrific animal cruelty.

 38-year-old Veronica Lynn Springer

According to the Santa Fe Police Department, 39-year-old Brian Anthony Cheek and his wife, 38-year-old Veronica Lynn Springer, were arrested Friday night on narcotics charges after officers found almost 9 grams of crystal methamphetamines, a scale and packaging materials for sales.

However, while executing the warrant, detectives made a gruesome discovery, police said. Twenty cats ranging from kittens to full grown cats were discovered dead.

 39-year-old Brian Anthony Cheek

Police said the cats all appeared to have been tortured and killed. Evidence of strangulation, blunt force trauma, disemboweling and burning was found.

One of the dead cats was discovered in a box in the bed of Cheek’s truck, police said.

Remains of several of the cats were picked up by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Animal Cruelty investigators and will be examined by necropsy at which time additional felony charges are expected.

Cheek, already on felony probation, is charged with manufacture/delivery of controlled substances, a first-degree felony, police said. He is being held on a $300,000.00 bond.

Police said Springer is charged with possession of controlled substances, and she is being held on $20,000.00 bond.

Georgia Man Arested For Beheading And Stabbing Puppies

Comments Off on Georgia Man Arested For Beheading And Stabbing Puppies

“OMG…this POS must be mentally impaired, as no sane person would do such despicable things to innocent puppies! His name & picture need to be on any Animal Abuse Registers & on every shelter wall. I hope he rots in jail, where hopefully another inmate might show him more things one can do with a pair of scissors 🙂  (sorry some posts are outdated but I feel some stories need to be told; especially if it may help others by sharing an image of the offending party) My apologise to anyone who sent me stories to be posted & they haven’t been done yet, I’m splitting my time between so many different things, I’m meeting myself coming backwards!!”

By Eric W. Dolan – Tuesday, August 13, (No updates seen as yet)

A man in Cobb County, Georgia has been arrested for allegedly mutilating two puppies his neighbors gave him to watch.

Robert Williams Davis

Robert Williams Davis, 38, was arrested just before midnight on Saturday after police officers found the dogsdead bodies in a wooded area behind his house.

A 14-year-old neighbour of Davis had given him and his girlfriend the two pit bull puppies. A pit bull rescue group was going to pick the dogs up within a few days. But the neighbour, Tyler Tedesco, learned that Davis had killed the two puppies. He called 911.

“I saw that, I dropped what I was doing and just walked away. I couldn’t bear to see that because I raised those dogs,” Tedesco told WSBTV.

Davis allegedly killed both puppies with a pair of scissors. Police said one dog was beheaded, while the other was stabbed in the throat. It is unclear why Davis killed the puppies.

“We all ran back to the house and cried. As soon as we saw it, it was something nobody wants to go through or see. And it’s really hard for all of us to know that somebody could even do that to a poor innocent animal,” Tedesco said.

Davis was charged with two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and three counts of tampering with evidence. He is being held on $250,000 bond.

VIDEO Movie Trailers; CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can’t Speak

Comments Off on VIDEO Movie Trailers; CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The Voices That Can’t Speak

“BE THE CHANGE…Please support this movie; donate what you can! Read the information, digest it, then share it will everyone you know! Nobody needs the skin of an animal except the animal, their fur is to protect them from the elements; not us!!! Please do whatever you can to stop this inhumane trade; read the MISSION statement below, read the links & sign petitions, thanks!”

Every year, more than 50 MILLION fur-bearing animals, including man’s best friend and feline companion, are brutally murdered without mercy in the name of greed, vanity and ignorance.  The fur trade is criminal and an atrocity at the lowest level of inhumanity.  To address the issue of animal cruelty in our society is to address the complexity of the human condition and our collective consciousness, which perceives animals as commodities, rather than loving, sentient beings.

ABOUT THE MOVIE:  This compelling film reflects the need of a changing society and its revolution for evolution – not a battle with armor but a quest for spiritual epiphany and the redemption of our planet.

THE CRY OF THE INNOCENT: The voices that can’t speak

Published on 2 Dec 2013

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR:

This film speaks the voice of truth for those who cannot speak for themselves.  It does not rely on gruesome images as a means to convey the message, but it does reveal the reality.

This precedent-setting film will unveil the spiritual truth behind the veil of a culture that perpetuates the holocaust of animals for personal gain.  Its pure intent is to probe into the deeper level of the psyche, so that the nemesis can be healed.

If we cannot witness inhumanity, we cannot empower humanity, and we fail as a “human” species.  If we are not willing to hear their cries or experience their terror, then we are not willing to bear witness to the truth, which is the only path to redemption and transformation.

This film is one that needs to be made, for it would be a tragedy of epic proportions to passively consent to the silence of mass murder for profit and self-aggrandizement.

I have asked myself the question: If not me, then who?  Someone needs to make this film, to beckon the soul of humanity to awaken.  That’s us, you and me.  If not us, then who?  If not now, when?

Without our voice, the animals have no voice.

Thank you for your support of this critical film, on behalf of the animals and humanity on our planet.

Animal rights is the greatest social justice issue of our time

MISSION

“A lie goes half way around the world before truth puts on its boots.” – Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens)

What is the state of our world’s conscience when we can tolerate the needless and horrific act of a sentient being skinned alive for its fur and empower the industry that profits from such atrocity?

Social responsibility, ecological preservation and evolution of consciousness are the challenges of this decade.  It is evident that we have not yet fully evolved as a society when the unconscionable practices and cruelty of the fur trade, and the inhumane suffering of all afflicted animals, is still a reality in the 21st century.  The killing of defenceless animals is an atrocity and reprehensible violation of the innocent, and should no longer be tolerated in a civilized and evolved society.

What is the price an innocent animal must pay for the sake of commerce, in the guise of fulfilling society’s needs?  Does our desire for material adornment outweigh human compassion and empathy?

How can we witness the massacre of innocent baby seals taken from their mother while nursing in Canadian waters and condone such an egregious act by continuing to invest in Canadian products, tourism and Canada’s stock market?

What is the state of society’s consciousness when man’s “best friend” and “feline companion” are mutilated and heinously killed for the skin on their bodies?  Where are the laws to protect them?  And why do we continue to invest in China and export their products to North America?

The impetus that drives the fur trade is the fashion industry, and film is the most powerful medium in which to convey the truth.

This precedent-setting film will leave an indelible imprint on the soul of humanity, intuitively evolving the collective consciousness toward sustainable change by bridging the link to cruelty through the soul perspective, with its center on the fur trade as a paradigm of a larger nemesis permeating our world.

AN INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY ON OUR PLANET

This critical film is a calling for transformational social evolution.

The impact of the film’s message will intuitively evolve the collective consciousness toward fundamental and sustainable change and iinstilthe principles of compassion, empathy, love and humanity on our planet, and in turn, save the lives of countless animals around the globe. The power of respect will change our world.

We will unite in a new world paradigm that stands in the power of good that will forever overcome the forces of evil and harm to all sentient beings and mother earth.

The way our animals are treated is the moral and spiritual compass of our humanity.

The World Will Change Through You.  No Other Means Can Save It.

IF NOT YOU, THEN WHO?  IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
