GRAPHIC VIDEO: Tigers And Leopards May Be Killed If Posing Danger To Humans: NTCA

“This is ridiculous, these big cats only turn man eaters when their other meat has been had for tea by the villagers or gone off elsewhere due to the habit forever decreasing!! The people that live around there don’t wait for officials as it is…so God help the poor animals that the villagers catch up with now!! It hardly seems fair, I mean the tigers were in the forest before people started popping up all over!”

“The big cats habitat is being destroyed at an alarming rate, so what are they supposed to do for food? Obviously they are going to take a villagers goat or cow for supper; they wouldn’t attack & eat humans if they had plenty meat running around the forest! If the villagers don’t want their livestock eaten, they should build bigger fencing; or better still, don’t  live in the tigers domain! Don’t kill the tigers because they got too close to humans; it’s the other way around, the villagers got too close to the animals. Perhaps more birth control wouldn’t go a miss, for all the women of these small villages; that appear to be sprouting up all over the tigers domain!!”

“Going on past history, the villagers have not waited for the forest department to come & capture a tiger or leopard that has attacked & or killed a human or cattle! I can understand their hate toward the big cat; but killing it won’t bring a person back. Capture & release into another part of the forest is the best for all concerned. If only the powers that be, could arrive much quicker, perhaps the villagers would not take matters into their own hands; therefore the whole scenario could be defused without harming the animal!”

“Now with the added go ahead as laid-out below in the news post, it’s almost giving the villagers more of a green light to kill the animals themselves; which is the worst thing that could happen! The villagers go into a mob mode & I have seen the violence they inflict on the animals they capture; they go absolutely crazy! It’s almost like a celebration, they have caught the cat & so, inflict their own means of punishment towards it! Even if officials are there, they can’t control the mob mentality of the crowds, who seem to come from nowhere? Pushing & shoving, camera phones held high; all waiting to get a glimpse of the killer about to be killed.”

“There are some horrific videos, of villagers who have caught, what they assume is the animal that killed their cattle; whilst in a frenzied mode, they repeatedly club the cornered cat to death! These villagers don’t need even more of a loop hole to kill the big cats. What needs to be done ASAP is have more armed rangers in & around all the villagers, with phones to request backup & trucks that hold cages & more importantly sedatives; ready at a moments notice to rescue a big cat that the villagers have cornered, timing is of paramount importance ! I’m not sure what the forest rangers have by way of authority over the villagers…but that also need to be changed.. as it is very clear the villagers are not afraid of the forest rangers, as is evident in so many videos, where the rangers appear to be doing nothing at all! Perhaps it could be down to numbers, if it’s only 3 rangers to 300 villagers; they are probably more scared of the swelling mob & their safety, than they are of retrieving the cat!!

“I have posted a video, which happens to be one of the worst things I have ever witnessed, it will forever haunt me in my dreams. Just the thought of it brings tears to my eyes. I’m showing it so that people can see, just how heinous the attacks on the big cats that are caught, really are; it is the cats that need the protecting, for sure! I find it hard to believe, in this era, that so many humans could want to inflict such formidable & macabre acts! Please note I have put the video at the very end, so those who don’t want to see it, will have to stop scrolling down at a certain point.

NEW DELHI: Tigers and leopards, accorded highest protection under the Wildlife Act, may now be killed with due permission from authorities if they pose a threat to human life or are disabled or diseased beyond recovery.

Tigers are thriving in and around India’s Nagarhole National Park, with a regional population of 250. “If we do everything right, we can have 500,” says big-cat biologist Ullas Karanth. Read more: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/The-Fight-to-Save-the-Tiger.html#ixzz1qG95oEf7

This is part of new guidelines issued by the National Tiger Conservation Authority in the wake of increased incidents of man-animal conflicts.

“Tiger as well as leopard are categorized under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, with highest statutory protection against hunting under Section 9 (1) of the said Act.

“Hence, such species can be killed if they become dangerous to human life or are so disabled/diseased beyond recovery,” the guidelines for declaration of big cats as ‘man-eaters‘ state.

As both tigers and leopards are known to turn into man-eaters, “such confirmed ‘man-eaters’ should be eliminated as per the statutory provisions provided in Section 11 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.”

The guidelines state that the chief wildlife warden of a state alone has the authority to permit hunting of animals which have become dangerous to human life or disabled or diseased beyond recovery.

As per the statutory requirement, a chief wildlife warden has to give in writing the reasons for permitting elimination before hunting, they say.

According to the NTCA, there are several reasons for a big cat to get habituated as a ‘man-eater’ including disability due to old age, incapacitation due to serious injury or loss of its canines, among others.

“However, there may be several exceptions, and hence specific reasons have to be ascertained on a case-to-case basis,” the NTCA said.

The tiger bearing forests and areas nearby prone to livestock depredation, besides having human settlements along with their rights and concessions in such areas, are generally prone to ‘man-eaters’, the guidelines state.

Loss of habitat connectivity in close proximity to a tiger source area owing to various land uses also foster straying of tiger near human settlements, eventually ending up as a ‘man-eater’.

“This is very gruesome & hard to believe human beings could be capable of such a despicable violent act; to an animal already caged. I have sent this video to a friend of mine in India who is an animal advocate & Media Adviser of OIPA in India / PFA Haryana; he will forward this to the right people if not already done so; I read it was filmed in 2008, so it could have already been dealt with. Please note the quality of this video including the sound is very bad quality, it settles after a minute or two!

“WARNING – View Discretion Is Strongly Advised”

Leopard being burned alive in Uttarkhand, India, PLEASE DO SOMETHING!
PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION IN FULL!
A leopard that was killing cattle and local villagers was caught, caged and burned alive in the summer of 2008. It remained alive for several hours after, writhing in agony while the police and forest officials watched. I have the list of people who did this. Forest officials, police, and people of the village. You can download it here:
http://www.beyondclix.com/files/Uttar…
We got the information but are at a loss for what to do. Please help!!!!
Please share! Please spread the word! More people should know about what happened. People who can do something about it should do try to do something!
PLEASE!Additional Note: I should have mentioned. Sorry. I did not shoot this video. Someone posted this in FB and we picked it up from there. We shared it with our friends and one of our friends then contacted Indian government under Right to Information Act asking for info on those forest officials. After waiting 6 months they sent the details. The link to download is in description. Then I tried to contact and even tried to meet many politicians and celebs but no one interested yet.
Still trying.Additional additional note: PLEASE don’t make this some country-bashing or religion-bashing thread. You’re taking away from what I’m trying to do. This has nothing to do with poverty or rich, rural or urban or any country in specific. This is about animal rights, empathy and sensitivity of all humans the world over. And I need you to spread the word. That’s all.
Please speak with people about it, online AND offline. Share it with top people. Share it with activists. With celebrities you may know. Your parents. Your friends. Your teachers. At parties. At meetings. Most of all share it with leaders and politicians. I need some help from powerful or important or even famous people. The Indian legal system isn’t much for animal rights in general yet, unless someone important is involved. Thus I will only achieve justice for that animal if you help!

Sheffield Tortured Dog Set On Fire : Owners Found Dog Called Issac!!

Comments Off on Sheffield Tortured Dog Set On Fire : Owners Found Dog Called Issac!!

“The other day I didn’t post it on here, but I tweeted what I found on a football forum; that someone  found out who he was & apparently “he got a good pasting” (pasting means a good hiding) I did say in one of the post I did, that if the people of Sheffield found out who he was, that I wouldn’t want to be him; if they found him! Well, it sounds like they found him & gave him a taste of his own medicine! However…this is only hear say from an online forum, so please, don’t take it as the gospel truth!”

“Although I can’t help but hope it was true, & the evil bastard was indeed paid a visit, whilst out on bail; by some animal advocates with a bit of muscle!  Under the Animal Welfare Act 2006, the maximum fine for animal cruelty and welfare offences is £20,000. The maximum term of imprisonment for offences is six months. I personally think the’ jail term’ is pathetic, especially in such evil, premeditated acts like this!. Just as long as he gets the maximum & we get a picture of him, so everybody knows who he is”

‘SOFT as a bottle of pop, he wouldn’t harm a fly’ – this is the first picture of the little dog tortured, beaten and burned to death in Sheffield.

Tortured dog Issak

Trusting terrier Issac was snatched from a garden in the city, led into scrubland and tied to a tree before his legs were broken, he was attacked, and his body set alight.

Last night, a 28-year-old man was on bail after being arrested by police on suspicion of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Today the woman caring for the pet when he was stolen sobbed to The Star of her heartbreak.

Rachelle Bannister-Hind, aged 42, wept: “Issac was nine years old but he was soft as a bottle of pop, gentle and playful like a puppy.

“He’d lick you to death rather than bite. He wouldn’t harm a fly.

“He has been part of our family for nine years – he was like a child to us.

“I am absolutely shocked at the level of violence. I didn’t think a human being could possibly do something like that.”

Rachelle, a scuba diving instructor from Arbourthorne, was looking after Issac for a friend, Andrew McNamara, while he was working away from home.

On Saturday night, she took the long-legged Staffordshire Bull Terrier with her to a friend’s party on Boundary Road, Wybourn.

“My friend had a secure garden, and Issac was running in and out of the house having the time of his life,” said Rachelle. “Everybody at the party was fussing him and he was loving it.”

But when Rachelle set off to go home, she realised Issac had disappeared.

“I panicked,” she said. “I searched the house and we went out into the streets looking for him. We searched everywhere.”

The next day, Rachelle rang Andrew in Birmingham, and he told her to contact the police.

On Monday, police released details of the horrifying discovery of a dog’s bloodied and charred body on a path off Manor Laith Road, Skye Edge – and, that night, officers confirmed the dog was missing Issac.

He had been identified by his microchip. Rachelle said: “I am absolutely gutted, and of course I feel responsible because he was in my care. Andrew is absolutely devastated.”

She thanked Star readers for helping with the police investigation and pledging reward money to catch the attacker.

Rachelle said: “We would both like to say a very big thank you to everyone, it is greatly appreciated.”

Animal lover 12-year-old Olivia Christian was one of those offering money as a reward. The schoolgirl from Mansfield pledged her £5 pocket money and told The Star: “When I heard about it I was crying all night.

“I love animals – I’ve got two hamsters, a fish and a cat. I wanted to do something to help.”

Wendy Hoyland, of Northland Road, Southey Hill, Sheffield, pledged £100.

She said: “I help look after abandoned animals myself at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary. This has broken my heart. We see animals here which have been abused. I just want them to find whoever has done this.”

Rachel Christian wrote on The Star’s Facebook page: “I hope the person responsible gets properly punished, not just a slap on the wrist.”

Darren Brackenbury-Green said: “I am completely disgusted. Unfortunately it’s a sad reality that such mindless acts of cruelty towards animals are increasingly commonplace.”

National charity Crimestoppers has also offered up to £1,000, taking the reward total to over £3,000.

Anyone with information is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.

By not saying anything & trying to protect the culprit; they are incriminating themselves, and as such, are as much to blame as the person or persons who inflicted this horrific crime!  Protecting a person like this will only lead to them committing more heinous crimes; so PLEASE anyone who knows anything pertaining to this post; contact the number below! Whoever beat, then burnt this dog alive; is a very unbalanced, dangerous person, probably with psychopathic tendencies…I can not stress how important it is, that they be caught & Justice is served!!”

SHELL-SHOCKED dad has spoken of his horror at finding the charred body of a beaten dog which had been tied to a tree, its legs broken, and set alight in Sheffield

PC Rachael Drabble and PC Matt Duffy at the scene where a dog was brutally attacked, tied to a tree and burned in Sheffield.

The bloodied remains of the tortured sandy-coloured terrier were found by Lee Booth, aged 43, who reported his horrifying discovery to the RSPCA and South Yorkshire Police. Detectives are today hunting the callous thug who attacked the dog – which officers said would have ‘suffered terribly before dying’.

The young pup was found near allotments, on a path off Manor Laith Road, Skye Edge, Sheffield.

Today father-of-one Lee told The Star: “I rang the RSPCA first of all, but because what had happened to it was criminal I called the police too.

“Its head was totally smashed in and there was blood everywhere. It had also been set on fire.

“It is heartbreaking to think how much that poor dog suffered – the scene was gruesome, there was blood splattered everywhere.

“I also saw an iron bar at the scene and I am wondering if that was used to attack the dog before it was set on fire.

“It is really worrying to think there are people out there who could do something as evil as this.

Matt Duffy, one of four dedicated Dog Legislation Officers with South Yorkshire Police, said he was ‘shocked and appalled’ by the crime.

It’s not a particularly old dog, it was light tan in colour, and it was a non-neutered male,” he said.

“We don’t know whether it was still alive when it was set on fire. Its back legs were broken, and it was tied using green plastic-coated flex, the type you might use in a garden.

“The fire had been started using lots of newspaper.

“We want to hear from anyone with information – anyone who knows of someone with a similar dog, anyone known to have inflicted cruelty on a dog in the past, anyone seen taking lots of paper into this area.

“There is a lot of anger among local people who are shocked anyone could do something so cruel.”

Geraldine Mullen, 47, who walks her own pet dog along the same path, said: “How that poor animal must have suffered does not bear thinking about.

Whoever did this needs help. If they can do this what else are they capable of? They are a danger to society.”

Police are still trying to trace the dog’s owner, and are appealing for witnesses to the attack or anyone with information to come forward.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman confirmed: “Police are appealing for information from the public after the body of a badly beaten and burned dog was found in Sheffield.

“The light-coloured Staffordshire Bull Terrier male dog is believed to have been severely beaten, before being tied to a tree and set on fire.

“Officers believe the dog suffered terribly before dying. “Police want to speak to anyone who may have seen this dog, or who may have lost a dog that fits this description.”

It is thought the attack took place some time in the last week, between last Monday, February 18, and Sunday, February 24.

An RSPCA spokeswoman said: “We are appalled to hear of such a blatant act of animal cruelty on a defenceless animal. “This poor dog is likely to have suffered a painful and horrific death.

“We would urge anyone who has any information to call the police immediately. We are happy to assist the police with this investigation if required.”

Call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 488 of February 24.

Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Update 1/5/13: The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible has reached $8,000.

Viewer discretion is advised – Puppy set on fire found wandering

Published on 3 Jan 2013 – By newman forbedder

Pit bull puppy found on new year’s day someone had put in a red plastic container and set her on fire near Calvados Ave. and Oakmont St.Sacramento CA.

On New Year‘s Eve, or New Year’s day, someone intentionally set fire to a pit-bull puppy in Sacramento, Calif.

On Friday, RedRover, a nonprofit animal protection organization, announced that a $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the cruel act.

The female, four-month-old puppy was discovered near Calvados Ave. and Oakmont St., near Del Paso Blvd. and Arden Way.

It appeared that the puppy had been confined in a red plastic container and doused with accelerant before being set aflame.

The fire left the puppy with severe burns over her entire body and bits of the plastic container had melted into her feet and hindquarters.

Though animal control rushed her to a veterinarian, the puppy’s injuries were so severe that humane euthanasia was deemed necessary.

I thought I’d seen it all, but this level of deliberate cruelty tops anything I’ve seen before,”

“Someone out there knows what happened. This dog deserves justice and we need the community’s help to find the dangerous person who did this.”

RedRover President and CEO, Nicole Forsyth is hopeful that the reward will help the authorities find whoever is responsible, stating:

We hope our reward will encourage someone who knows more about this horrifying act to come forward with information that could lead to an arrest,”

“Violence toward animals is often a precursor to violence toward people, so local residents have a stake in seeing that whoever committed this sick and disturbing act is punished to the full extent of the law.”

Anyone with tips or information is asked to phone: Officer Dan Torres at  916.808.5855.

Graphic Images:Toro Jubilo Fiesta: Where It Is Legal To Set A Bull On fire: In The Name Of Entertainment

Comments Off on Graphic Images:Toro Jubilo Fiesta: Where It Is Legal To Set A Bull On fire: In The Name Of Entertainment

“If there is a way to torment a bull (amongst other animals) or inflict pain, whilst calling it a tradition, therefore a part of culture; you can count on some countries to do so. Spain being one of them for allowing this particularly horrific show.”

IF you thought bullfighting was bad, prepare to be even more revolted. These shocking images of a bull with its head engulfed in flames are of the Toro Jubilo, an annual festival in the town of Medinaceli in central Spain.

The bull is burnt alive and taunted by the public before it is butchered/ solarpix

Celebrated every November, the twisted revelry centres around the prolonged torture of a bull by attaching flares of burning pitch to its horns and then goading it as the poor creature thrashes around in terror and desperate agony.

All in the name of tradition and entertainment. Yet ludicrously the Spanish insist that it causes no distress to the bull. “Then let them replace the bull”

This year’s fiesta began at 11.30pm on Saturday and attracted 1,500 people – a crowd almost twice the town’s population. Small children clapped and cheered along with their parents as 30 men dragged the bull into the town square by a rope wound round its horns.

The square had been scattered with sand to turn it into a makeshift bullring. Men then lit a circle of five bonfires to complete the transformation while a brass band played in the background.

Image for Ref. Only

The bull – a three-year-old named Liebro – had arrived in Medinaceli an hour and a half earlier on a lorry from Gallur ranch in the province of Aragon. Now it fought with every muscle in its body as the men forced it to the ground, tied it to a wooden post and strapped a wood and steel frame to its horns.

Attached to this grotesque headdress were torches soaked in pitch – a mixture of turpentine and sulphur. The men then smothered the bull’s face and neck in mud to stop its fur catching fire before igniting the torches.

When they were aflame the bull was cut free from the post and began to run around the ring, furiously shaking its head as red hot droplets fell from the torches on to its face.

Young men played at matadors, taunting the bull with coats spread open like capes. When the animal charged they leapt over a safety fence, the spectators cheering them all the way.

Can you see the shear terror & agony on the face of that bull??? Who could carry on such barbarity??

After 40 minutes the bull was exhausted as well as petrified. It came to a halt with breath steaming out of its nostrils, saliva dripping from its mouth and the hide on its flanks charred black.

When the torches finally burned out, hundreds of fire crackers were set off, terrifying the bull further before it was led out of the ring to be slaughtered. The locals then celebrated by partying until 6am. The fiesta of the Toro Jubilo (jubilant bull) is said to date back 400 years but the dictator General Franco banned it in 1962 after the British press revealed its cruelty to the world.

However, the ban was lifted in 1977 and the festival revived in Medinaceli, which lies 100 miles north-east of Madrid.

” This is nothing but sadistic torture, if someone has to see this sadistic evil torture to have fun, there is something seriously wrong with them!”

A petrified bull stands as the hot liquid flows down the bulls face, blooded mouth from running into objects desperately trying to stop the suffering!….Really is that what they call entertainment…suitable for children?

THE FESTIVAL has been accorded special cultural status by the authorities of Castile and Leon in Spain and the municipality of Medinaceli is applying for it to be awarded Intangible Cultural Heritage status by Unesco.

“This is part of our cultural heritage,” argued Walter Jesus Moreno, 33, one of the participants. “The bull doesn’t suffer at all.” No the bull doesn’t suffer, just look at the above picture, the bull is having a great time…NOT “Let him say that after someone straps lit flames above his head, ignorant bxxxxxd”

But animal rights groups in both Spain and Britain are campaigning to have the festival banned. Mark Jones, a vet and UK executive director of the Humane Society International, told the Daily Express: “This barbaric festival causes the animal phenomenal stress and fear. The animal would be incredibly frightened by the whole process.

In this day and age people shouldn’t be using animals in this way for their entertainment and they shouldn’t be using culture as an excuse for cruelty. Well said Mr Jones”

Spanish animal rights groups say there are numerous fiestas based on animal cruelty around the country. “In the province of Valencia alone there are 6,000 festivals involving cruelty to bulls. It is barbaric and has to stop.”

The Toro Jubilo fiesta which took place in Medinaceli last year had been banned between 1962 until 1977 after some British reporters denounced the fiesta and the authorities responded by banning its celebration, but now times have changed.” We have done it before, so lets do it again & stop these heinous forms of entertainment”

“Medinaceli Town Hall has this year started the application for the ‘Toro de Fuego’ fiesta to be recognised by UNESCO to obtain ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity’ protection for the practice which has been going on for hundreds of years. I just hope amongst the panel who say yea or nea or some animmal”

“UNESCO purpose is to contribute peace and security by promoting international collaboration through education, science, and culture in order to further universal respect for justice, the rule of law, and human rights along with fundamental freedom proclaimed in the UN Charter.”

“Do you seriously think the right to torture animals via so called traditions; can be included in the above?”

Spanish animal rights groups say there are numerous fiestas based on animal cruelty around the country.
In previous years they have organised demonstrations in Medinaceli to protest against the festival but they have had no effect in deterring the locals who see it as their cultural right.

Now they are concentrating on pressuring politicians into banning the fiesta. Silvia Barquero, spokeswoman for PACMA, a political party campaigning for animal rights, said: “In Spain, there are hundreds of festivals involving burning bulls and thousands more involving other forms of cruelty.

“In the province of Valencia alone there are 6,000 festivals involving cruelty to bulls. It is barbaric and has to stop.”

This poor bull looks like he just wants to give up, enough of the pain & torture!!

“I have never seen such pain captured in single images as these have done. They should make all those who support this cruelty, feel so ashamed!!!

“Honestly…can anyone look at that poor bull without conscience, without feeling its unrelenting pain, through burning flesh, his poor eyes singed & scorched so much by the heat he can barely see; the poor beast  runs into walls, through the fires set alight around the arena”.

Exhaustion: Gasping for air, the bull reaches a state of exhaustion after nearly 45 minutes of torment and is soon dragged out the ring by villagers.
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/news/article-2232031/Toro-Jubilo-The-grotesque-Spanish-bull-burning-festival-animal-rights-campaigners-want-banned.html

“Well if you can’t muster up any sympathy for this, then I would prefer you to clear off my blog; you best go nosy around someone else’s, who doesn’t care about how animals are treated by human beings.”

Blood flows from the bulls mouth & nose where it tried to ram walls to put the fire out & end it’s nightmare!!

41 dogs killed in Greenbrier fire, 60 survived

Comments Off on 41 dogs killed in Greenbrier fire, 60 survived

GREENBRIER, Ark. (KTHV) – Forty-one dogs died in a Faulkner County mobile home fire, according to county authorities.

Faulkner County Deputies say the elderly couple that lived in the home escaped safely but 41 dogs did not make it out.

Police say they received the 911 call around noon Friday. When they arrived, they found the charred remains of the animals inside and approximately 60 more dogs that survived outside. Most of them were small breeds, including chihuahuas and miniature dobermans. Police then called investigators to the scene.

Though investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire, Greenbrier Fire Chief Cody Fulmer said it may have started by a wood stove at the front of the trailer. It was apparently fully engulfed by flames when crews arrived.

“The ignition of the fire, the way it started, that might play into whether charges are filed,” says David Hall with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office.  “I will say the dogs that were not injured in the fire are not malnourished. They looked well taken care of. They had been fed. They had been watered, (they were fine) other than being confined to a small space.”

Hall says the remaining animals have been seized for their own safety until investigators can determine whether there is some type of criminal intent involved in this case. At least nine animal rescue organizations have taken the dogs into their custody.

Hall says while he was on scene, several neighbors in the area presented him with pictures or descriptions of their own missing dogs, suspecting that they may be at this home. But Hall said none of those descriptions matched the animals seized from the property this afternoon.

Fulmer says the structure was being used as a grooming service for dogs.  Animal rescue organizations are helping the dogs who survived.
