DISGUSTING;-“Kill greyhounds, don’t rehome them” Callous advice from Irish Coursing Club 28 January 2015. The Irish Coursing Club is callously advising greyhound owners to destroy unwanted greyhounds instead of rehoming them. In a damning internal report, uncovered by the Irish Council Against Blood Sports, owners are advised: “Do not give away unwanted greyhounds. It is far better to put them painlessly to sleep.”

What constitutes putting a dog “painlessly to sleep” is not specified in the document.

Entitled “A Summary of Directives, Instructions and Guidance Notes Issued by the Executive Committee of the Irish Coursing Club to Club Secretaries, Control Stewards Judges and Slippers” it conveys the contempt with which coursers regard greyhounds incapable of winning money for their owners. Dogs “that have run a number of times during the season” without success are branded “no-hopers”.

The document also reveals the use of injured greyhounds in hare coursing. In a section headed “Running Of Injured Greyhounds“, it states “As the implementation of a rule to cater for the running of injured greyhounds in order to qualify for prize money would be difficult, the Executive Committee ask that the stewards of meetings use their judgement in relation to the matter.”

The coursers’ Instructions and Guidance document leaves no doubt that both hares and greyhounds are victims of this cruel bloodsport. The time is now for the government to ban this shameful activity.

SAMPLE LETTER
(If you have time, please compose your own personal letter. Otherwise, feel free to send the short sample letter below. Be assertive, but polite, in all correspondence. Thank you.)

Dear Minister,

I am one of the majority who want hare coursing outlawed. I am writing to urge you to revoke the licence you issued to the Irish Coursing Club. In coursing, hares suffer at all stages – during the capture, during the time they are kept in captivity and during the coursing meetings where they run for their lives in front of greyhounds. Among the injuries recorded are broken legs, damaged toes and dislocated hips. Every season, hare injuries and deaths are documented.
I ask you to please act on the wishes of the majority, show compassion
and permanently revoke the licence.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Shocking photos show the moment a fox is dragged out of its hole by hunters and shot in front of children as young as FIVE

Comments Off on Shocking photos show the moment a fox is dragged out of its hole by hunters and shot in front of children as young as FIVE

“THIS DESPICABLE HEINOUS CRIME MUST STOP….PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION BELOW. How can anyone say that chasing an animal with the intention to kill it is a normal act! These POS get a buzz out of chasing a small animal, purely to kill it…it’s the thrill of the chase; & they love it!!”

By LIZZIE EDMONDS – 27 January 2014

  • Images, released by anti-hunt campaigners, show men setting dog on fox
  • They then use spades to dig creature out of a hole before shooting it dead
  • Critics have today condemned ‘cruel’ and ‘horrific’ incident
  • But Countryside Alliance say the men acted legally under Hunting Act

This is the moment a fox was dragged out of a hole and shot dead while children as young as five watched on.

The images, released by anti-hunt campaigners, show a group of terriermen setting their dog on the  creature.

The fox tries attempts to hide in a badger’s sett – but the three adults fire into the ground and use spades to dig it out.

These images show the moment a group of men unearthed and shot a fox as three young children watched on

A farmer who captured the killing on camera says the group then called over three children to show them the remains.

The men can then be seen walking away with two dead animals. It is unclear where and how the second fox was killed.

The shocking incident happened shortly after a hunt on December 28 by the Modbury Harriers, which rides in south Devon.

The League Against Cruel Sports has handed the photos over to the RSPCA and asked them to investigate it as a possible breach of the Hunting Act..

The law bans hunting foxes with a pack of hounds – however it doesn’t cover the use of dogs to flush out animals underground.

The farmer, who has asked not to be identified, said the fox was initially chased across the field by hounds.

The Countryside Alliance said there was ‘no question’ the behaviour was legal – describing the killing as ‘professional and humane’.

“Just read the above comment on the picture…how can any sane animal lover, who owns just a dog or cat; say this is normal!! I see no difference in this than I do inhumane POS chasing & killing elephants or rhino…they are all sentient beings FFS!!”

The huntsmen moved on but before it could climb out of the badger’s set three men with guns and spades arrived – with three children following close behind.

The farmer said: ‘I sat there in disbelief – how could those guys think any of what had played out was fit for young children to witness?

‘I watched in horror as a whole pack of hounds poured into our neighbour’s field then piled into our meadow.

They made that hideous blood-curdling squealing – known as ‘speaking’ – which means they are on the scent of a fox.

‘I saw a beautiful vixen flash across the meadow and disappear into an old badger sett on my neighbour’s farm.

‘At the top of the hill I saw a couple of guys carrying spades and a terrier on a lead. They were going to dig her out and kill her right then and there.

‘The men came down and filled in the exit holes to stop the fox escaping and then called the children over to watch as they dug out and killed the young vixen.’

Sick Neanderthals!!

The farmer said the three men came across a second badger inside the hole which they also shot dead as the children craned their necks to see what was happening.

He added: ‘This is the dirty underbelly of fox hunting, the bit they don’t like even their followers to see.

‘But I was disgusted to see the terriermen had brought three youngsters to watch – one was only about five years old.

The farmer, who keeps a flock of 140 breeding ewes and a few chickens, is strongly anti-hunting and has complained about huntsmen trespassing on his land.

oe Duckworth, chief executive of the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS), said: ‘This horrific incident of animal cruelty shows not only a total disregard for the dogs and foxes but also for the welfare of the children.’

The Countryside Alliance, however, said there was ‘no question’ the behaviour was legal – describing the killing as ‘professional and humane’.

Spokesman Tim Bonner said the outrage merely demonstrated that outsiders do not ‘understand the realities of the countryside and country life’.

Mr Bonner said he had spoken to the hunt, who told him the killing had been carried out as ‘pest control” with the permission of the landowner.

He said: ‘The children were not in the hole – they were close by – and as far as we are concerned it was a totally professional operation and nothing which should upset anyone.

‘They were using the terrier work exemption and properly, professionally and humanely managing the killing of those two foxes.

‘There would be plenty of children of that sort of age involved in pheasant shoots and ferreting.

‘The vast majority of children eat meat and at the end of the day it is a dead animal.’

The Hunting act:-

The Hunting Act came in to force in February 2005 and was passed under the 1997 Labour government. It bans hunting any wild mammal  – including foxes, deer and hares -with dogs in England and Wales.

Under the Act it is completely legal to ‘flush out’ – i.e. coax an animal from a hole or a sett – with dogs.

It is also legal to drag hunt with hounds. This is when the dogs are trained to follow an artificial scent and is now common practice across the country.

Hunting mammals with dogs was banned in Scotland two years earlier under the Protection of Wild Mammals Act 2002.

It is still legal to hunt in Northern Ireland.

Breaking the law is a summary offence. Those found guilty of doing so would be fined.

There were 181 convictions under the Hunting Act up to the end of 2010.

Marshal County Government, APHIS/USDA: Stop The Torture and Killing of Live Domestic Rabbits Used as Hunting Bait: Petition to Sign

Comments Off on Marshal County Government, APHIS/USDA: Stop The Torture and Killing of Live Domestic Rabbits Used as Hunting Bait: Petition to Sign

“All animals are born innocent, but in the wild they learn from the parents, teaching them how to hunt & catch food to survive; thus is the cycle of life. But for dogs born in captivity, they are born with a strong need to love & be loved; all puppies are adorable little fluff balls who adore human interaction! However, the video below just breaks my heart, the little pups are purely fascinated with this new toy, licking & wagging their wee tails. However, their training will commence & the dogs will turn into killers; taught by the owner they will eventually track, lock on, then kill innocent wildlife; which I find despicable!”

We would like thank the Mississippi Legislature and Governor Phil Bryant for passage of S.B. 2504 in 2012 which extends the state’s prohibition on a cruel and inhumane form of staged animal combat called hog-dog fighting. We ask this same respect and compassion be given to the Tame Domestic Rabbits being used as Live Bait for Dog Hunting Training. We the petitioners would like to file Animal Cruelty Complaints on David Wring of Beagles On Fire for the unnecessary, intentional and barbaric torturing of tame domestic rabbits being used as Live Bait to train his breeding hunting dogs and for selling and recommending tame domestic rabbits to be used as Live hunting training Bait by others when there are ethical alternatives.

Sight Chasing Rabbits With Dee & Maggie Pups 2013

Rest Of Petition Text:-

Tame domestic rabbits are seen running for their lives banging off of fences to escape packs of hunting dogs until they are succumbed from sheer exhaustion only to be repeatedly attacked until they can no longer fight back.
Rabbits have small, fragile bones that can be easily injured,/backs broken and being Prey animals stress causes them to go into shock resulting in death. It is our opinion that the rabbits in these videos are clearly being tortured beyond survival.
IS MR. WRING CLEARLY PULLING A DEAD BLACK RABBIT OUT OF THIS VIDEO (TUGGING IT FROM THE DOGS LOCKED JAWS ) AFTER IT POSSIBLY DIED FROM SHOCK WHEN HELPLESSLY & REPEATEDLY ATTACKED, BITTEN, THEN “DRAGGED BY ITS FACE”?
How is this barbaric display of horrific senseless cruelty considered acceptable behaviour? Contact with a domestic rabbit in No Way prepares a hunting dog to catch a speedy wild rabbit. This practice is wanton cruelty, pure and simple and there is no logical or practical reason to subject live domestic rabbits to this unnecessary torture and suffering except for entertainment, ignorance, laziness or profit.David Wring of Beagles On Fire proudly invites you to click on his video’s and watch the “Fun” when packs of 6-10 beagle pups are taught to torture tame domestic rabbits (prey animals) by chasing, forcefully cornering, attacking, biting and piling on top of them causing them extreme distress, harm and fear for their lives. There is no possibility for the rabbits to escape from these wired enclosures, as would be the case “if” they were out in the wild.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rx82ayPEd0Mr. Wring claims to have been raising domestic rabbits for the last 2 years as Live Bait to “Train” his dogs within his inescapable training pen. He has increased his operation to the point that he can now sell rabbits to the public encouraging others to also torture, abuse, injure or cause the death of tame docile domestic rabbits in hunting training.
http://www.beaglesonfire.com/hunter-the-retrieving-beagl/rabbits-for-sale.htmlA domestic animal does NOT exhibit the same hard wired survival instincts that a wild creature does and therefore will not know how to escape from its predator – in this case, packs of hunting dogs. A domestic rabbit’s instincts are watered down due to the genetic manipulation of its gene pool, when you put a live domestic rabbit in the same pen with predators, you have just committed murder. That rabbit has no clue how to defend itself (and it can’t) causing an elevated heart rate, rapid respiration, its adrenaline will go full tilt, and its lactic acid will build rapidly.

A domestic rabbit does not have the natural coat (camouflage) that a wild animal has, and therefore teaching a beagle to hunt a domestic animal most certainly does not encourage its hard wired instincts.

The Beagle is a scent hound with a natural hunting instinct and it is his genetic make-up to hunt. These hard wired instincts carry from generation to generation and therefore teaching a Beagle to hunt and chase domestic rabbits by scent is not necessary or useful because the domesticated rabbit is a descendant of the European Rabbit and does not share the same scent as our wild rabbits.

Ethical Alternatives in Lure coursing are honored and used by Beagles Unlimited and the American Kennel Club that do not involve the torture of sentient, intelligent creatures. The artificial lure is made to look like a live animal where the lure is dragged across the ground at a high rate of speed, with a set number or turns and changes in direction to simulate the movements of a live animal or “game.”

CRUELTY TO ANIMALSDOG TRAINING—

The use of a Live Rabbits in the training of greyhound racing dogs has been outlawed in most States because such action causes the animal to be tortured and tormented, causing unnecessary pain, suffering and death. It has even been outlawed to kill and use dead rabbits.
Torturing of an animal for the purpose of training hunting dogs would also appear to be needless knowing there are ethical alternatives and therefore making it a crime for any person to come within the scope of the statutes prohibiting cruelty to “animals.”

§ 2156 – Animal fighting venture:- Prohibition

In this section – (1) the term “animal fighting venture” means any event, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, that involves a fight conducted or to be conducted between at least 2 animals for purposes of sport, wagering, or entertainment, except that the term “animal fighting venture” shall not be deemed to include any activity the primary purpose of which involves the use of one or more animals in hunting another.

The following section constitutes Mississippi’s anti-cruelty and animal fighting provisions, which were recently amended in 2011. The pertinent anti-cruelty law, § 97-41-1, states that any person who intentionally or with criminal negligence overrides, overdrives, overloads, tortures, torments, unjustifiably injures, deprives of necessary sustenance, food, or drink, cruelly beats, or needlessly mutilates any living creature, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

§ 97-41-1. Cruelty to living creatures

Except as otherwise provided in Section 97-41-16 for a dog or cat, if any person shall intentionally or with criminal negligence override, overdrive, overload, torture, torment, unjustifiably injure, deprive of necessary sustenance, food, or drink; or cruelly beat or needlessly mutilate; or cause or procure to be overridden, overdriven, overloaded, tortured, unjustifiably injured, tormented, or deprived of necessary sustenance, food or drink; or to be cruelly beaten or needlessly mutilated or killed, any living creature, every such offender shall, for every offense, be guilty of a misdemeanor.

§ 97-41-2. Seizure of mistreated animal

(1) All courts in the State of Mississippi may order the seizure of an animal by a law enforcement agency, for its care and protection upon a finding of probable cause to believe said animal is being cruelly treated, neglected or abandoned.

The Animal Welfare Act was signed into law in 1966. It is the only Federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research, exhibition, transport, and by dealers. The event of hunting training is conducted by a Dealer of hunting dogs, considered a sport which involves the use of one or more animals hunting another and the rabbits are being used as Live Bait which directly relates to Animal fighting venture prohibition.

We the petitioners request the USDA and Marshall County, Mississippi to investigate proper licensing regarding Beagles on Fire i.e. Dealers license, License to sell animals online and Business License.

According to David Wring’s Website; his dogs are sold for $600 each and can be bought on the Internet, he also sells domestic rabbits.
Credit Card Purchases: http://www.beaglesonfire.com/credit-card-purchases.html

Code of Federal Regulations Nov 6, 2013, Part 2, Subpart A – Licensing / 2.1 state that dealers selling over $500.00 with more than 4 breeding does requires licensing.

Subpart A (c) (e) states failure of any person to comply with any provision of the Act, or any of the provisions of the regulations or standards in this sub-chapter, shall constitute grounds for denial of a license; or for its suspension or revocation by the Secretary, as provided in the Act

If the breeder has more than three breeding bitches and is selling the litters wholesale, he must be licensed under the Animal Welfare Act and must be in compliance with standards specified under the Animal Welfare Act.

What happens when a rabbit is picked up by the scruff?
Their skin is made up of three layers, the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous. Just as in our human skin, rabbits’ skin is plentifully supplied with nerves, which allow them to feel your touch; temperature; and pain. The subcutaneous layer consists of fat, connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves. This layer helps hold the skin to the muscle tissue. When you lift a rabbit by the scruff the skin is torn loose from the muscle tissue.

BACKGROUND !
Parks trainings of hunting dogs (called “Pritravochnye stations“) See video above! are places where hunters can train their dogs using wild animals as prey, such as wild boars, bears and wolves and smaller animals such as raccoons, foxes, badgers and rabbits.

The dogs risk almost nothing!  People pull out teeth and claws of the wild animals so they can’t hurt their hunting dogs during the trainings with these wild animals. (Their teeth and claws are removed as a precaution) but these poor wild animals are suffering to death, they are scared, they are super stressed (and sometimes are dying of stress or injury) they are living in constant fear – says a veterinarian Semen Sereda. These animals are bitten dozens and hundreds of times. Experts say it is possible to make this process more humane, for that you need to change the law ..

Dogs can train every day, costing to the owner 300 rubles. (about $ 7) per session. The dog has ten minutes to bite the animal and that the maximum…but for the small animals it usually finishes with animal death!

It becomes impossible to the wild animal to fight back. They don’t even try to fight back because they are so terrified..of being abused. These people if the teeth are not been removed put a wood stick into the wolf’s jaws-mouth so they can’t bite.

They chain the bears so the bear can’t more than one feet. They also taking rabbits cubs, foxes and badgers and put them into a special “tunnel” so they can’t run away; and leave the mad dogs rushing on them inside the tunnel (as pictured/video below)

There are about ten parks trainings dogs in Moscow region. But across Russia they are hundreds of them; each of these parks operate legitimately. Because any law prohibiting such existing operating in Russia. The workouts dog parks bring in families with children and their guest, advertising is everywhere: on roadsides, in newspapers, on the Internet.

But there is also an much more gruesome underground “illegal parks” which is very well known by regular confidential customers .. Illegal parks whose advertising does not exist; but only from mouth to mouth…at the request of the customer if he wishes, his dogs can torment a chained boar or a chained bear until it dies .. (a kind of bear baiting till the death follows)

We urge the Russian government to put an end to this unacceptable huge barbarism !!! please sign the petitions massively ! (especially the first one!)

Facebook Butcher: Online Boasting Leads To Animal Cruelty Charges

Comments Off on Facebook Butcher: Online Boasting Leads To Animal Cruelty Charges

A GRAPHIC photo of dead sheep beside a pig-hunting dog, posted on Facebook on Monday, has led to swift action by the police and a 22-year-old Orange man charged with animal cruelty offences.

download

Yesterday police visited a Mullion Creek property and identified the carcasses of several dead sheep found on a nearby road after they were reported missing by a landowner.

Late yesterday afternoon a man was arrested and interviewed at Orange Police Station.

He was charged with six counts of aggravated cruelty upon an animal, seven counts of committing an act of cruelty on an animal, one count of entering enclosed land and five counts of stealing livestock.

The posting of the photograph on the social media site drew an instant response from the public with a barrage of comments condemning the man’s actions. Police launched an investigation to see if the  Facebook posting and the landowner’s complaint were linked.

The Facebook photograph of two men with three dead sheep laid out beside a hunting dog was taken at night in front of a vehicle with the number plate clearly displayed.

Police said yesterday the sheep were identified as being from the property where the owner had reported his sheep missing on Friday night.

Yesterday, police alleged the animals had not been shot, with the carcasses displaying injuries that suggested they had been mauled by a dog and stabbed.

Jo Shearim, part-owner of Bullets n Bits, a hunting supply store in Orange, said the business was inundated with calls from outraged customers on Monday, shortly after the pictures had been posted on Facebook.

“Everyone is disgusted at this,” she said.

“It is this sort of behaviour which gives responsible hunters a bad name.”

An RSPCA spokesman said they had liaised with Orange police over the alleged cruelty incidents throughout the day.

Canobolas Local Area Command Inspector Dave Harvey said police investigations into the case were continuing.

The RSPCA said a charge of aggravated animal cruelty in NSW carried a fine of $22,000 and/or two years imprisonment.

The man has been refused bail by police and will remain in custody until his court appearance.

Hunters Charged In Lion Killing

MITCHELL, S.D. — Two area men are among three hunters charged with illegally using dogs to tree and kill a mountain lion Feb. 1 in Pennington County.

The female lion had two kittens, one of which later died. The other is now in a zoo.

The lion was shot about three miles south of Hill City, S.D., Conservation Officer Blair Waite said.

Acting on a tip from an eyewitness, Waite ticketed James Jucht, 71, of Sioux Falls, S.D., on a charge of shooting the treed lion, and David Terveen, 63, of Emery, S.D., on a charge of aiding and abetting in the shooting.

Pennington County Deputy State’s Attorney Josh Hendrickson said Jucht and Terveen face the same charge, namely “violating the conditions of a big game license.” The big game violations are Class 1 misdemeanors, which can bring up to one year in jail and a $2,000 fine. Both men face a hearing April 19 in Rapid City, S.D., before Seventh Circuit Magistrate Judge Heidi Linngren.

Wade Musick, 41, of Mitchell, was ticketed on a charge of illegally using dogs to hunt lions, a Class 2 misdemeanor that could bring up to 30 days in jail and a $500 fine if he is convicted.

Musick is scheduled for an April 10 hearing in Rapid City to discuss the charges.

“It’s a time for him to meet with the state to go over his options,” Henrickson said. “He can enter a plea at that time or ask for a court trial.”

All men were legally licensed hunters.

The use of dogs to hunt mountain lions was allowed this year on an experimental basis, but only within Custer State Park. The lion at issue was shot outside the park boundaries and before the in-park dog hunting season opened, Waite said.

“In Mr. Musick’s defense, he said he was using his dogs to hunt bobcats, which is legal in South Dakota,” he said. “Then this too wants to be banned!”

Waite said Musick was not present when the cat was shot, so he was not charged with aiding and abetting in the alleged crime, but he said Musick admitted his dogs treed the lion.

Waite acknowledged that dogs cannot differentiate between bobcats and mountain lions.

But apparently neither can some people,” he added.

One kitten was found immediately after the lion was killed, and the kitten was taken to a zoo. Waite said the other was trapped about 10 days later but was in such poor condition that it had to be euthanized. The bodies of the female lion and its kitten are being held as evidence.

Mike Kintigh, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks regional supervisor, said 61 mountain lions were taken during the annual harvest that ran from Dec. 26 to March 31. The number was short of the total 100-lion or 70-female limit set for the season. Only 35 female lions were taken. The female lion in question is not part of those harvest numbers at this time, but the lion and kitten will be added to his department’s lion mortality list, which tracks all lion deaths, Kintigh said.

Kintigh said lions are an emotional topic for hunters and conservationists alike, and statistics are tracked by groups nationwide. “How can hunters be as emotional as conservationists & especially animal advocates? They see it as a necessary blood sport”
