“WTF…ABSOLUTELY SICKENED…I was in two minds whether to post this because of the graphic content & the reaction it will raise; but we have to speak up for those who cannot! The depth of my hatred and disgust for the human race gets worse every single day. I cannot comprehend the pain & suffering this poor dog went through at the hands of a human being; nigh monster!! The sick minded POS that abused Laura, is not fit enough to scrape shit off shoes with his/her tongue; never mind breathe the same air as normal beings! I hope whoever did this is found & quickly, they need to pay big time! Evil generally seeks its own benefit at the expense of others and is based on general malevolence!! Whoever did this I hope they suffer a life of pain & abuse; it’s nothing less than they deserve!! PLEASE if anyone recognizes this dog, or knows who it belongs to, please contact your local police or http://www.lasthopek9.org or https://www.facebook.com/LoveForLaura

“Kudos to those taking care of Laura; I know they are doing everything possible to return Laura to good health…please see Laura’s Facebook page for updates etc!”

Laura was scheduled to die at the Brooklyn Animal Control Center in NYC. A fate that so many face, but to think that Laura almost didn’t make it out of there is unfathomable.

Volunteers reached out to Last Hope K9 Rescue in Boston, Massachussetts to intervene and they immediately took actionhttp://www.lasthopek9.org/donate/

At the vets, Last Hope K9 Rescue learned that Laura had human bite marks on several areas of her body. She presented with redness and swelling around her eyes, wounds on her front and hind legs and mouth.

While these wounds are horrific enough, the depth of Laura’s abuse was much deeper. What was initially thought to be a mammary tumor and prolapsed uterus ended up being a sexually transmitted disease.

During her examination (by a male vet), Laura tucked her head in behind his neck and let out a loud sigh as he examined her backside. The doctor said it was like she was almost embarrassed. Despite the pain she must have been in, Laura never snapped or acted out, she just patiently sat there. To imagine that she endured this abuse for an extended period of time is no consolation.

Even with this level of repeated, unimaginable abuse, Laura is forgiving. She wants nothing more than the love and acceptance of people, despite the injustices bestowed upon her for who knows how long. Laura’s recovery and treatment will take at least 6 month.

In the shelter, Laura’s abuse was evident, but it wasn’t until she was examined by our vet that we truly came to understand all that Laura has endured. For Laura to be as loving and trusting as she is with humans, speaks volumes to the kind of dog she is.

She is currently in treatment for her conditions and her emotional healing has begun in her foster home. Laura has touched the lives of so many just by being her sweet-natured self. She deserves the very best and now she will get it.:-https://www.facebook.com/LoveForLaura

Unbelievable and disgusting case of animal abuse: Dog RAPED by humans and left for dead

LAURA WAS RAPED & ABUSED! Here is her story. Please consider to contribute to her fundraiser Lisa Anne Bakal wrote: “Horror upon horrors happen daily to these innocent dogs. Laura was another stray pit bull who entered the Brooklyn shelter.

They thought the growth on her was mammary tumors. When she hit the kill list, a good friend of mine who is a volunteer did all she could to get Laura’s life saved. She was one of those dogs who just “get you”. Last Hope K9 Rescue stepped in and saved her at the 11th hour.

Once they got her to their vet, the real horror was discovered. She put her head down and sighed as the “male” vet went behind her to examine her. It turns out those “tumors” weren’t tumors at all. She was repeatedly RAPED by a HUMAN and she has a sexually transmitted disease. She has HUMAN bite marks all over her little body.

She will need 6 months of heavy medical treatment to rid her of the STD she contracted from this filthy parasite who raped her. My eyes will never be dry, the tears are never-ending. Please follow her page on FB “Love for Laura” and the wonderful Last Hope K9 Rescue for updates.

UPDATE INC: Justice Demanded For Tortured ‘Puppy Doe,’ Pit Bull Given Away On Craigslist And Brutally Abused

22/11/213 UPDATE by Kiri Blakeley  :-

Puppy Tortured to Death Finally Gets Justice She Deserves

Radoslaw Czerkawski. He is charged with 12 counts of animal abuse, remains behind bars on $500,000 bond, and faces 55 years in prisonCzerkawski had gotten Doe for $40 on Craiglist.

Never, EVER give away an animal for free! And if you’re going to sell it or ask for a donation, thoroughly investigate who you are giving an animal to. Check vet references and visit their home. (Czerkawski lied and said he had a farm in Connecticut. Asking to visit the farm that he did not have would have immediately kept the puppy out of his hands.)Czerkawski is also accused of stealing checks from a church and misleading police.

Police are confident Czerkawski is their man — they say they found Puppy Doe’s blood on his apartment floor. Disgusting! This “man” deserves everything he gets and more. It’s about time that animal killers and abusers get hard time for their crimes. If Czerkawski gets the max, he won’t be out until he’s almost 90 — if he makes it out at all.Through it all, vets say that Puppy Doe, despite what she’d been through, was loving and friendly to all. Can you imagine? Animals are certainly better than humans in a lot of ways, and anyone who takes advantage of that doesn’t deserve freedom.

Sick bastards like this, soon tire of torturing the same living beingGod forbid this person hasn’t played out these perverse actions on a child yet!! It may or may not be the first attack, but I doubt it will be the last!  I know many people don’t want to get involved etc. but there is such a thing as anonymity…so come on guy’s; these animals rely on the kindness & voices of others to save them!!”

Internet users have united to get justice for a dog so brutally tortured that she had to be euthanized.

Puppy Doe, a pit bull that faced horrifically brutal torture, had to be euthanized because of her injuries. Police are now searching for her abuser. | Animal Rescue League of Boston

On Aug. 31, a female pit bull was found on Carrolls Lane in Quincy, Mass., near a playground, according to Boston’s Animal Rescue League, or ARL. The dog, who was likely 1 to 2 years old, weighed half what she should have. She had suffered starvation and abuse “sadistic” in nature, including stabbings to the eye and a sliced tongue. Her injuries were so severe that she had to be euthanized.

Veterinarians working on the animal, named Puppy Doe, were sickened by her state.

“They’re a freak, a total freak,” Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore, who performed the autopsy on the tortured pup, told Boston’s WBZ of the alleged abuser. “Splitting her tongue, burning her nose, stabbing her eye, it’s the totality of the types of injuries. Not only was she beaten, she was stabbed [and] she was burned. It’s all kinds of injures. It’s a sick mind that can do this to an animal.”

The Quincy Police Department and animal rescue groups are asking for help. The ARL is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of the perpetrator. Animal groups Misty’s Journey and Second Chance Rescue NYC have already raised more than $11,000 on YouCaring.com toward a reward for information provided.

A Facebook group titled “Justice for Puppy Doe” already has more than 25,000 likes and has attracted support from as far away as Brazil.

“We need anyone who knows who owned and abused this dog to contact authorities,” District Attorney Morrissey said, via the ARL. “The injuries cataloged in the post-mortem examination are grotesque and indicate consistent starvation and abuse over an extended period of time. It is highly unlikely that this level of sadistic cruelty could be shown to one animal and not be part of a pattern involving other animals or perhaps vulnerable people. We need to find the person who did this and see what else they are doing.”

Meanwhile, the dog’s alleged original owner, Laura Hankins, has come forward. Hankins told the Boston Herald she and her boyfriend bought the pit bull mix last December for $200 on Craigslist. But her landlord eventually told her the dog had to go. Soshe put the dog back on Craigslist.

She gave the animal to a woman from Grafton who “seemed wonderful,” according to the Herald. The new owner sent updates, but those stopped in July.

The Puppy Doe case has reignited the fight against free pets on Craigslist, a practice that has been linked to abuse and death.Change.org petition set up in memoriam of Puppy Doe demands Craigslist CEO Jim Buckmaster end the practice.

Via Change.org:

It’s beyond words that this sweet, innocent dog, that once knew love had to suffer this violent, evil fate, but at the very least, if … “giving away” of pets was banned on Craligslist there would be a small amount of justice in her name.

The petition has nearly 20,000 signatures.

As of Saturday, police were following up on six specific tips, according to the Herald. The Patriot Ledger reports that a memorial has been set up for Puppy Doe along a fence at the playground near where she was found.

Anyone with information, is asked to contact the Animal Rescue League at 617-226-5610 or Quincy Police Det. Thomas Pepdjonovich at 617-745-5774.

GRAPHIC IMAGE: Horse starved in Citrus County; animal lovers appalled

Comments Off on GRAPHIC IMAGE: Horse starved in Citrus County; animal lovers appalled

“How the hell could she let the mare get so bad & not ask for help or advice as to why the horse wasn’t gaining weight? Any real horse owner knows’ that teeth need to be filed down at least once a year! I get my horse done twice as it doesn’t take long for a tooth to start irritating the gum due to being sharp or hooks to cause pain, which will stop the horse eating properly. How come it took until it was on it’s last legs before someone noticed it? Was it locked away where nobody could see it? I just can’t fathom why nobody spoke up earlier, perhaps then the mare may have stood a chance! Sod falling out with neighbours; when an animals life is in danger, you speak up!! Didn’t the previous owner see it’s condition going down? So many questions because this just shouldn’t happen in this day & age!”

Floral City, Florida – “I cried her name, I said, ‘Mary, Mary — how could they do this to you?'” says a sobbing Cheryl Pence.

She’s talking about Mary, an Arabian mare she used to own. She saw Mary again Thursday afternoon, right before she died.

When animal control officers arrived at the horse‘s current home near Floral City, Mary was down on the ground, too weak to stand — simply a breathing carcass.

“Deplorable, emaciated, there’s really not a term for it — it’s beyond emaciation,” says Animal Control Officer Terry Funderburk of the horse’s condition.

PHOTOS: Severely neglected horse euthanized, woman arrested **WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES**

The horse’s owner, Tammi Kampman, was arrested and faces an animal cruelty charge. A vet says the mare’s teeth were so uncared for, that she could not physically eat.

Kampman was arrested on one misdemeanor count of animal cruelty after a severely emaciated horse was euthanized. WARNING: Graphic photos

“It had no way to process the food put in front of it,” explains Animal Control Supervisor Lora Peckham. “It literally starved to death, because of a lack of medical care.”

The arrest report indicates that over the past year people in this rural neighbourhood, including other horse owners, had offered to help the family. And Pence, who had given the family Mary four years ago so their girls could ride, begged to get Mary back.

“I said, ‘but if you can’t take care of her, I can take her back. I’m happy to take her back; I love this horse,'” Pence says.

But according to Citrus County Animal Control, no one called them to report the neglected horse. Some residents told investigators they didn’t want to cause hard feelings in the neighbourhood and Pence thought someone else had picked up the phone. “In situations like this I would rather fall out with a whole bloody City; than not report a suffering animal!”

When 10 News knocked on the mobile home’s door today, we were told to go away, so we don’t know why this horse was allowed to suffer for so long. However, we did see several cars at the house and a bass boat out back.

“She took no action to get a vet on property,” said Peckham.

Yet, because there isn’t an indication of “intentional abuse”, Peckham explained that state law allows only a misdemeanor charge. Kampman bonded out of jail on Thursday. “Perhaps not intentional abuse but the owner isn’t blind, she saw the state of the horse & didn’t get a vet out….I call that intentional negligence, which should be accountable for as it is clearly animal abuse to leave a horse in that condition!”

Mary was so far gone she had to be euthanized and her former owner is now left with photographs of better days and a gnawing guilt.

Appalling, horse starved to death

“She’s in horse heaven and she’s not suffering,” says Pence. “But I will never do that again. I will never give away a horse again.”

Animal Control Officers say it’s important for people to officially report animal abuse or neglect. And if owners find themselves in a situation where they don’t have the money, time, or will to properly care for animal, officials urge owners to ask county agencies or area rescue groups for help.

Graphic Image: Outcry Over Dead Ponies on Bodmin Moor

Comments Off on Graphic Image: Outcry Over Dead Ponies on Bodmin Moor

“Please Note Graphic Image below, do not scroll down; viewer discretion advised. My apologies for this post being late…it won’t be the only one, sorry!!!”

“OMG…this is just heartbreaking; I can’t think straight for crying!! The POS who left these horse to die, need to be found & prosecuted; to the full extent of the law. The cold-hearted bxxxxxx’s should be thrown in a bare field, without food; until they beg for mercy…then beg a little more! Sorry but as a horse owner, I get very upset at these stories. The scum that did this are not fit to scrape sxxt off my shoes; let alone breathe the same air!! Please if you know who did this, or who the horses belonged to, I beg you to tell the police or WHW; you don’t want the death of horses on your conscience do you??”

“It should be made mandatory that all horses are chipped, irrelevant of age! Most responsible owners have their horses chipped, it’s not worth the worry not to! But there will always be the cob colts at sale rooms, from unscrupulous owners & breeders, there to make a few quid; that won’t be microchipped! So perhaps the sale rooms & livestock auctions, should refuse entry & report those who don’t have their horses chipped!”

” I have to agree with World Horse Welfare on the issue of hot branding; I think it’s cruel on horses, never mind cattle! Regards the ponies on Bodmin, perhaps it’s time the mares were given birth control drugs, although it won’t be easy trying to catch them; it’s better than having an excess of ponies who are going to die through lack of food etc”

“My horses are chipped, not just because of getting loose…their also chipped due to horse thief’s, who target certain horses to steal, especially rarer breeds like my Gelderland. There have been a lot of horses go missing, unless they are microchipped, they will probably never be returned to the rightful owner. Please see my note at the bottom about adopting horses, by way of a donation!”

The death of more than 20 ponies on Bodmin Moor last week has shocked local people and further highlighted the “equine crisis”, say welfare charities

The ponies were dumped on Eastmoor, Cornwall, and left to starve. In total more than 20 died, including eight that were put down by Defra vets.

A further 30 animals are currently being monitored by the GovernmentBut there is no clue as to whom the ponies belonged.

Though microchipping has been compulsory in foals since 2009, this is ignored by many owners.

World Horse Welfare field officer Jeff Herrington was there.

“The scene was horrific,” he said. “I was walking across the moors and there were bodies everywhere I looked.

“We have to sort this out. We have to find a way to link animals to their owners to hold them accountable.”

Julie Dowton of the Bodmin Commoners Association told H&H that pony dumping on Bodmin is a growing concern.

“We had a couple of incidents in previous years, but thought we’d got on top of it,” she said. “But with the tough economic climate, more ponies are being abandoned.”

Redwings took in 19 ponies after a similar incident on Bodmin in 2011.

“This is a shocking and disappointing regression,” Redwings’ Nic de Brauwere said. “But if we can’t identify owners, we can’t prosecute. We are in the midst of an equine crisis; horse identification needs improving drastically.”

There are more than 600 ponies on Bodmin and Ms Dowton added that local farmers are “distraught”.

“It has made us look further at the issue of visible marking,” she said. “We are even looking at hot branding such as in Dartmoor and Exmoor so ponies are easily identifiable.”

The Exmoor Pony Society agrees it is vital to identify semi-feral ponies visually.

“It helps us recognise ponies that have been ‘dumped’ on the moor and may not be able to survive in such an environment,” said a spokesman.

World Horse Welfare disagrees with hot branding but would like to see other methods used.

Microchipping has to provide the solution, as it must be possible in the near future to be able to scan at a distance,” said chief executive Roly Owers. “In the meantime, alternatives such as the short-range reading of microchips and cutting manes and tails need to be relied upon.

Grand National meeting: Another Death – Little Josh suffers fatal fall at Aintree

Comments Off on Grand National meeting: Another Death – Little Josh suffers fatal fall at Aintree

“OMG…I FXXXXXG HATE THIS BLOOD SPORT….As a horse owner & lover for over 40 years; this just breaks my heart! TWO dead already, what is the Grand National going to be like…please pray all the horses get round the course safely; and go home safely, not dying of heart attacks or burst arteries after the race. R.I.P Little Josh x”

The Grand National meeting at Aintree suffered its second fatality today as the Little Josh, ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies, had to be put down after fracturing his shoulder.

The news comes after the meeting’s first casualty yesterday, when Battlefront suffered a suspected heart attack after being pulled up in the John Smith’s Fox Hunters’ Chase.

It is a further blow for Aintree officials after the course revamp before the meeting.

Aintree has revamped the course fences to make them safer for competing horses after criticism of the meeting’s Saturday showpiece branding it dangerous after seeing two fatalities – According to Pete and Synchronised – in last year’s National.

John Baker, Aintree and North West Regional Director of Jockey Club Racecourses, expressed his sympathies but defended the sport.

Tragic: Battlefront, ridden by Katy Walsh (left), suffered a suspected heart attack after being pulled up

‘British racing is very open that you can never eliminate all risk from horse racing, as with any sport.

However, welfare standards are very high and equine fatalities are rare.

‘With 90,000 runners each year, we have a fatality rate of just 0.2 per cent.’

Andrew Tyler, director of Animal Aid, described the carnage at Aintree as ‘utterly depressing’.

He said: ‘The Aintree authorities and the British Horse Racing Authority have been claiming that major new safety measures and efficiencies would eliminate much of the risk associated with racing on the Grand National course.”

UPDATE: Couple Found Guilty of Animal Cruelty Gets Probation, Fines

Comments Off on UPDATE: Couple Found Guilty of Animal Cruelty Gets Probation, Fines

“This bloody stinks, the owners knew that dog was suffering & did nothing to alleviate his pain & discomfort! No amount of money is enough when it comes to the life of a family pet, that has been neglected, the poor thing couldn’t even stand…the couple should be jailed; or at the very least banned from owning dogs for life!!”

The PacketClarenville A Hillview couple was sentenced to two years probation and 50 hours of community service today in provincial court in Clarenville.

Max, a shepherd cross, is pictured in this file photo after the Clarenville area SPCA and the RCMP took the dog from its home in an emaciated condition. The dog died soon after.

Max, a shepherd cross, is pictured in this file photo after the Clarenville area SPCA and the RCMP took the dog from its home in an emaciated condition. The dog died soon after.

Harvey Murlin Price, 42, and Jacqueline Cooper, 38 had been found guilty under charges under the Canadian Criminal Code for Cruelty to Animals, on Dec. 10, 2012.

They also received fines — $1,000 for Price, and $500 for Cooper — and a combined fine of $510 for restitution to the Clarenville SPCA.

Price received a higher fine breaching a similar section of the Animal Cruelty act in 2002.

In March of 2012 the SPCA and had been called to investigate neglected animals found on Price’s property.

Their dog, a mixed-breed shepard named Max, had been living in a dilapidated dog house, without food and his water dish was frozen.

The SPCA found the animal to be underweight, with significant muscle loss, some broken teeth and visible ulcerations.

The animal was euthanized several days after being taken into the SPCA’s care.

Justice Patrick Kennedy said a mitigating factor was that the animal only suffered the last couple weeks of its life and the decision not to euthanize was out of pity due to losing a member of the family.

“There was no brutal attack or torture. However, Max did suffer for at least two weeks and the accused did nothing to improve conditions,” said Kennedy.

“If an animal trusts you, the community trusts you will care for the animal.”

—– Earlier story —

A sentence of monetary fines paired with a period of probation has been issued for a couple found guilty, in December 2012, on two counts of cruelty to animals — one for neglect and one for causing injury.

The convictions were based on treatment of their pet dog, a Sheppard cross mix named Max.

The dog was removed rom the couple’s home in Hillview in March 2012.

“Upon removal, Max was extremely emaciated, had lost all muscle mass, and was no longer able to walk on his own,” notes a statement issued by the Clarenville Area SPCA following the sentencing.

The SPCA took part in removing the dog from the home and housed the animal before, after a few days, it was put down to prevent further suffering.

The sentence in the case was handed down this morning in a courtroom in Clarenville.

The names of the two individuals sentenced will be published by The Telegram once confirmed with the court.

According to the SPCA statement, the first individual involved was given a $500 and two years probation. She was also ordered to pay $255 to the Clarenville SPCA to cover their costs in removing and caring for the dog.

The second individual was issued a fine of $1,000 and two years probation. He will also have to pay $255 to the SPCA.
