“A family of scum let this happen, to such a noble, sensitive, sentient being! They should never be allowed to own any animal ever again! Look into the eye’s of a horse & you see their soul! They are capable of giving so much, love, trust & such a unique bond! They just want to be fed & loved …it’s not a lot to ask, is it? I hope all those that know this family, see them for what they are…animal abusers; not fit to breathe the same air as animals, never mind people!! Kudos to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, for giving this horse the best thing ever, a new happy life. I hope he soon finds a forever home with loving owners. Abused horses deserve the very best life can offer after such suffering, as do all animals. They are so willing to forgive & love again, they are so grateful, not selfish or looking for revenge; like we humans do!!
A family has been banned from keeping horses for life after their cob was found collapsed and starving in a field in Essex.
On 28 June at Basildon Magistrates Court, Victoria Jaggers, of Wellington Road, Tilbury, her husbandKelly Trundle and her daughter Alicia Jaggerswere found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to a horse.
The cob, Frugal, was reported to theRSPCAby a concerned member of the public in December.
RSPCA Inspector Matt Gough went to the property, in Tilbury, Essex, and found the two-year-old piebald cob. He was unable to stand by himself and was starving.
Fire-fighters helped lift the horse and take him to a local vet, before he was transferred toRedwings Horse Sanctuary in Norfolkwhere he has since made a full recovery (see photo above).
“When Frugal arrived he was still so weak he couldn’t stand by himself and had to be lifted manually by the team,” said Redwings vet Nicola Berryman.
“He was covered in sores from where he had been stuck down for so long.This is a case of neglect, pure and simple. We are delighted to report that he is now fully recovered, but no matter what the circumstances, he should never have been allowed to get into this state in the first place.”
As well as the ban, Mr Trundle was given a 12-month community order and told to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. The 42-year-old was also ordered to pay £250 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
Victoria Jaggers, 39, and Alicia Jaggers, 21, were each given a two-year conditional discharge and told to pay £250 costs.
“Frugal was in a very sorry state when we found him,” said RSPCA Inspector Matt Gough.
“He clearly wasn’t receiving proper care, and hadn’t for some time. It is no excuse to plead ignorance when looking after any animal. Anyone who has responsibility for an animal has a legal duty of care towards that creature. The failure to do just that in this instance resulted in the matter being put before the court.”
The Fire Department of New York had a crowd of spectators holding their breath as they watched one fireman patiently gain the trust of a scared dog trapped on a window ledge.

Witnesses said the dog appeared to have escaped out of a second-story window, but was unable to climb back in because of the window guard. New York City law states that apartments where children live must have a window guard.
“He must have wiggled through and couldn’t figure out how to get back in,” said James Morgan, the witness who caught the dramatic rescue on video.
Passers-by noticed the dog, teetering on the six-inch ledge, and began to gather around. The FDNY was called in and cleared the area under the window to pull right up under it.
The dog lost his footing several times as apprehensive onlookers watched, helplessly.
“It was pretty nerve-racking,” Morgan said.
A fire-fighter ascended toward the dog in a cherry picker, but descended to gather a leash, some water and treats. He offered water to the dog, and slowly gained its trust enough to pet it.
He clipped a leash to the dog, and after steadying himself in position, scooped the dog into the bucket lift.
The crowd erupted into relieved cheers for the heroic fire team.
Morgan said the dog was immediately brought inside, but it is unknown if the owner was in the building.
FDNY Rescues trapped pup on window ledge in Brooklyn

A dog that became trapped on a window ledge in Brooklyn was rescued by a fire-fighter who won the pup’s trust with treats and brought him down in a bucket truck.
“Phew…close call, dread to think what would have happened had they not been able to get oxygen into the dog! I think this proves all fire engines should carry these life saving masks, made especially for dogs. Kudos to HALO for donating them. Perhaps people could visit their web site for ways to help them, so more of these dog masks can be given to the fire services. On June 25, 2013, Swansea Ill. firefighters responded to a house fire at 4069 Bassen Drive, just after 2 a.m. Auggie, a yellow Labrador retriever, was found unconscious on a bathroom floor, but luckily fire rescuers pulled him to safety and revived him.

“We had to carry him out and he didn’t look like he was with us at all,” Swansea Fire Chief John McGuire toldBND. “He’s a big dog, between 80 and 100 pounds. One guy was dragging him and one was pushing him. We gave him some oxygen and dribbled some water into his mouth and called the vet.”
The home in which Auggie was trapped was a two-story home that quickly filled up with heavy smoke. Fire was visible on the first floor.
According to McGuire, the fire seemed suspicious. No one, other than Auggie locked in the bathroom was home at the time the blaze started, and the fire had multiple points of origin.
Auggie’s life was saved thanks to the fire department being equipped with petoxygen masks. These had been donated by Helping Animals Find Loving Owners (HALO) back in 2009. Auggie is the first dog to benefit from the donated masks given to the Swansea Fire Department.
“The masks are designed for an animal’s face for a better seal,” said Roni Aguirre, president of HALO. “We donated the masks in the hopes that if they ever had the unfortunate need to use one, they would have it.”
Auggie was lifeless when pulled from the fire, but as soon as rescuers revived the pet, he was taken to theLashley Animal Hospital. When McGuire stopped by to check on Auggie around 9 a.m., he found an entirely different dog.
“I couldn’t believe it was the same dog from seven hours before,” McGuire said. “He was on a leash and he jumped all over me.”
If it wasn’t for the hero fire-fighters their love to help everyone – included our four-legged friends, and the donated oxygen masks by HALO, Auggie wouldn’t be alive today.
“I know what I would like to do to the f-ing bastards that set the dog alight…the most horrifying fact is; it could well have been children! It has & will continue to happen until changes are made & animal abuse is seen as a serious crime; which merits serious punishment!!”
“I know for a fact there are people or kids out there, that know who did this; along with the thousands of others keeping schtum about similar animal abuse cases. Children are only interested in the here & now…they either don’t want to, or are bullied into not wanting to grass their mates up! They have no idea, nor can they relate to the repercussion, that first “act of animal abuse” can lead to.”
” I think kids should be taught about the “The link between animal abuse & serial killers etc” within the school environment. When problems escalate from children abusing animals etc.; then it’s children that need to know why animal abuse, of any kind is wrong & what the ramifications of committing such a crime…can lead to!”
A South Koreananimal rights group offered a $2,800 dollar reward to catch those responsible for setting a dog on fire in an incident that triggered a public outcry.
CCTV footage of the dog running through a car park while engulfed in flames was shown on national TV news channels and prompted angry discussions on social network sites.
The dog ran into a garage and triggered a fire which gutted the structure in Yongin, a city south of Seoul, on Sunday.
The group Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth offered a three million won ($2,813) reward for information leading to the arrest of those behind the incident.
“Whatever they tried to do, whether to kill, eat or abuse the dog, this cannot be tolerated for any reason,” the group said.
Dog meat is a traditional delicacy in South Korea, but growing numbers of Koreansoppose the practice and consider it an international embarrassment.

Auto body shop a few days ago (20 days) in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, a fire did occur. Somehow the cause of the fire was this dog. JTBC affiliate reporter Kim, Youn – Tae Central Daily reported.

“Dogs are killed with high-voltage electrocution, which takes anywhere from thirty seconds to three minutes, hanged, and even beaten to death at the request of customers who believe the meat more tender and tastier the greater the suffering (one of the most pernicious of myths), and that the so-called medicinal properties are enhanced.
They are most often killed within sight of their cage mates. They are then thrown into a tub of boiling water, often still alive, and then into a rotating drum for the removal of their fur, and finally blow torched. At Moran Market, South Korea’s largest open air-market for dog meat, dog carcasses are on display next to the cages of live dogs.
Cats are often bludgeoned and thrown into boiling water while still alive.” Frightening and horrific cruelty to man’s best friends is endemic and systematic in South Korean society.
These unprecedented cruelty towards animals can no longer be tolerated and it is our moral duty to urge South Korean government to respect and enforce not just its own but the Global Animal Protection Laws.
Each year 2 million dogs and thousands of cats are brutally killed and eaten. These helpless animals are forced to endure unspeakable suffering, deprivation and torture from birth to death. Abandoned pets end up as meat as well.
We oppose this on ethical, health, environmental and moral grounds. It is unconscionable for the South Korean Government to ignore the huge growing shock and outcry on social media sites all over the world.

BRIDGETON — The fire-fighter cited by authorities for animal cruelty for letting his dog become emaciated with sores all over his body while tied in the backyard has pleaded not guilty to the charges in court. Alexander Centeno, of East Commerce Street, appeared in Bridgeton Municipal Court on Thursday and told the judge he would release the Great Dane if the charges were dropped.
“You know what I said to that!” responded Cumberland County SPCA Executive Director Bev Greco. “No way.”
A trial date of Dec. 13, at 2 p.m., has been set.
Centeno, was charged with failure to maintain proper sustenance, which included failure to provide proper veterinary care. The dog, believed to be 4 years old, has a history with the SPCA. “We were called out about this same dog eight months ago,” said SPCA cruelty agent Diane Luellan-Lilla at the time. “The owner was cited for violations, but complied and the case was closed.
The dog is recovering. Since Nov. 20, Centeno is being charged $10 a day room and board for the dog plus a veterinarian’s examination and medication expenses.
Those charges added up to $190 when Luellan-Lilla first contacted Centeno by phone the day after the seizure.
She told Centeno the monetary charges would cease as soon as he came to the shelter and signed papers to release the dog. He declined and announced he was retaining a lawyer.
Centeno was not home the day of the seizure and no one answered the door, but other dogs were inside.
They are believed to be owned by Centeno’s wife. At least $90 in additional charges have accrued.
“Why does this not surprise me…because I have seen so many innocent sentient beings; who have been treated in such a heinous despicable way! The Sxxt or Sxxt’s that did this, even if it turns out to be little rug rats…should pay dearly!”

Updated Oct 30, 2012 at 6:50 PM Buffalo, NY (WKBW) – A puppy, running around caught on fire, was found Monday evening in a Buffalo neighborhood.

Remarkably, that puppy is still alive — and now police are investigating this case of animal cruelty.
At just 16-weeks old, the little Jack Russel Terrier does not even have a name. However, the images show a heartbreaking life.
Burned from head-to-toe, a neighbor saw him on fire on the 200 block of Herman Street in Buffalo.
Mary Baldwin, she called 9-1-1 at first thought it was a paper on fire — and then questioned maybe a house. She says “and then I saw the little feet running and I said no that’s adog, that’s a dog!”
Baldwin says a man across the street then smoldered the flames.
Police found the little Jack Russel Terrier in a backyard, where neighbors say there’s a whole litter of puppies.
The puppy is now recovering at the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital.
Veterinarian Dr. Rebecca Wagner says “We had to treat him with shock, fluids and certain medications to help get his blood pressure up.”
The Buffalo Police Department, Buffalo Fire Department and Buffalo Animal Control are investigating.
There is a chance the puppy had been doused in lighter fluid.
Mike DeGeorge, with the City of Buffalo, explains “When the puppy was brought here, there was the smell. Other than that I would just say it remains under investigation.”
His fur coat is charred, ears crinkled back and eyes swollen shut. Wagner explains “His eyes are completely swollen today and it’s going to be worse in the next five days or so.”
The next five to seven days will determine the little puppy’s fate.
Veterinarians do not know yet if he will make it — but they have hope.
“He was completely white and ghostlike when he came here,” Wagner says. “Now he’s a little more pinkish.”
It will be expensive for the Buffalo Animal Shelter to care for the burned puppy. No one knows his name or who he belongs to. He did not have any tags or identification.
If the puppy recovers, the shelter will put him up for adoption.

Faulkner County Deputies say the elderly couple that lived in the home escaped safely but 41 dogs did not make it out.
Police say they received the 911 call around noon Friday. When they arrived, they found the charred remains of the animals inside and approximately 60 more dogs that survived outside. Most of them were small breeds, including chihuahuas and miniature dobermans. Police then called investigators to the scene.
Though investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire, Greenbrier Fire Chief Cody Fulmer said it may have started by awood stove at the front of the trailer. It was apparently fully engulfed by flames when crews arrived.
“The ignition of the fire, the way it started, that might play into whether charges are filed,” says David Hall with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office. “I will say the dogs that were not injured in the fire are not malnourished. They looked well taken care of. They had been fed. They had been watered, (they were fine) other than being confined to a small space.”
Hall says the remaining animals have been seized for their own safety until investigators can determine whether there is some type of criminal intent involved in this case. At least nine animal rescue organizations have taken the dogs into their custody.
Hall says while he was on scene, several neighbors in the area presented him with pictures or descriptions of their own missing dogs, suspecting that they may be at this home. But Hall said none of those descriptions matched the animals seized from the property this afternoon.
Fulmer says the structure was being used as a grooming service for dogs. Animal rescue organizations are helping the dogs who survived.

The heart-warming tale of a dog rescued by Arlington, Texas fire-fighters has turned tragic.
According to Wednesday’s publication ofWFAA News, the dog, named “Leah,” who was saved from a fire thanks to the efforts of a dedicated team of fire-fighters, has since passed away.
Initially, the prognosis for the dog’s recovery was promising.
Fire-fighters worked for an hour to revive the dog who was trapped inside of a house which was engulfed in flames.
But the damage to the dog’s body proved too much and she died on Sunday as a result.
Another pet, a cat, also died in the devastating blaze.
Those who learned of the fire-fighters efforts were touched by their compassion and dedication to the ailing dog – Leah’s untimely death does not take away from their heroic efforts.
“I have so much admiration for these fire fighters, not just because they save people, but they risk their own lives to do so!. Happily on this occasion’s all fire fighters were safe, but the family dog, left in the burning house was not. That is until these guys did their all…for a dog….their motto should be ‘If it breath’s, it leaves’…sadly the cat didn’t make it but I’m sure the owners will be overjoyed that those fire-fighters fought for their dog, Leah‘s life too! It was a miraculous rescue, out of a burning house came a fire-fighter with a limp dog in his arms. But these well prepared fire-fighters do not give up easily, and after an hour of life saving effort, they were rewarded when Leah raised her head. The fire, which struck a home in Arlington Texas when the owner was not home, was being battled the whole time rescuers were attempting to revive the poor pooch who had been trapped inside.
It wasn’t easy, ”They went through five bottles of oxygen on her, probably three- to four breathing treatments, the same treatment we administer to humans,” said Arlington Fire Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Seeton.
However every battalion chief’s car and on every ladder truck s equipped with a pet oxygen mask, which proved vital in saving Leah. No one ever gave up, petting her and coaxing back, even giving her a gentle poke in the eye, to which she blinked, giving them continued hope.
“It’s a great feeling to see these big, burly fire-fighters all gathered around working on a small dog, trying to get it back to life,” said Seeton. Sadly, it was not all good news as the family cat unfortunately did not survive the blaze. But seeing Leah recover eased the heartbreak for the fire-fighters and for Leah’s owner. Leah is expected to make a full recovery.
