I’m sure some of you have noticed the lack of posts during the past few weeks, or maybe not đŚ ; I just wanted to let you know why I’ve been away! (Some video likes have been posted but not by me, had to give passwords to family just incase…it appears some liked vimeo lol)
My apologies, I didn’t have time to let people know, it was a bit last-minute when I was finally admitted to Middlesbroughhospital in England, for several weeks; this is my last chance to gain some decent back pain relief.
It is only a week since leaving hospital, after having had a Morphine pump inserted; I still have the wounds bound, but I go back to Middlesbrough hospital (several hours from home) tomorrow to have my staples removed from the incisions on my back & stomach; & yes it hurts like hell but I’m a tough cookie…lol!!
So please bear with me whilst I recover, it could be several weeks or months before I know if the operation has been successful or not; which will affect my quality of life & also how often I can post animal news etc.!
If the operation has been a success, I should gain at most 20% less pain; not a lot but anything is better than nothing. Obviously I will try to post as & when I can, it all depends on pain, plus I can’t always get to my computer!
However, due to being on some pretty good pain meds whilst I recover, today has allowed me to get to my PC & write you; I have even managed a couple of posts; although now suffering for sitting too long….lol
Just please bear with me whilst I recover, if all goes quiet again, you know that I simply can’t post much due to pain.
So please, keep your fingers crossed & pray my operation worked; allowing me to get back to posting regular global animal posts. But more importantly, God willing, I will hopefully be able to fulfill my dream & rescue another horse, after suddenly losing my beautiful horse to colic; after surgery failed last year!

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A pregnant dog that was severely burned is doing much better after being taken in by a local animal rescue group.
âSomeone did something unkind to this very sweet dog,â says Donna Casamento with Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
It’s something so unkind, itâs horrific to view. Nina, a terrier mix, has second to third degree burns on her chest, all the way down to her legs.
âItâs been a very very sad situation. We werenât sure when we first got her how the burns happened,â said Casamento.
But Donna thinks Ninaâs burns may have been intentional. And what makes this worse, sheâs pregnant.
âWhether she walked into a fire on the ground, like a fire pit or was pushed into a fire pit. Dogs donât walk into those kind of situations,â she said.â
Now the race is on to save the unborn dogs while Nina recovers. âItâs somewhat difficult for us to tell exactly if the puppies are still alive yet,â Casamento said.
Nina was brought up yesterday from Miami-Dade rescue. Veterinarians here are taking care of her around the clock. âEvery couple of hours, sheâs getting this applied to her and then several baths throughout the day,â said Donna. âWeâre giving her pain medication about every three or four hours at this point.â
The hope is eventually to find her and her babies, a loving home. âIn spite what sheâs been through, all she wants to do is sit with her head in our lap and get love. This is a great dog,â she said.
Vets say once Nina becomes comfortable, theyâll be able to perform an ultrasound to see if the puppies are alive. Theyâre asking the community to help with donations for Ninaâs care. Find out how you can help at their website, http://www.bdrr.org/ .

Despite much heralded âsafety improvementsâ, the Grand Nationalâs most notorious obstacle remains a potentially lethal challenge for horses running at Aintree next month. The two horses who died at last yearâs event â Synchronised and According To Pete â both fell at Becherâs Brook. The same 4ft 10in fence accounted for Dooneys Gate in 2011. His back was broken after the obstacle brought him down and another horse landed on him.
Animal Aid has long criticised the hard wooden core of Becherâs Brook. Reports, therefore, that the inner structure of Becherâs and other fences will be softened represents, in our view, a positive development.
However, Becherâs remains inherently lethal for many reasons, including its height, the spread, the diagonal angle of approach, the fact that it comes at the end of a fast straight of five demanding fences, and because horses must turn after the obstacle has been jumped. In addition, although changes have been made to the ground on the landing side of Becherâs, the fence is still lower there than on the take-off side, which poses another potential hazard for horses.
Animal Aid insists that the time for tinkering is over â Becherâs Brook must be removed.

Besides Becher’s, other distinctive features make the Aintree annual race extraordinarily dangerous for horses. These include: an overcrowded field of 40 horses; a uniquely long distance, with more fences per mile than any other race; plus perversely challenging obstacles that vary in height and design, unlike the uniform fences found on other British courses. A number of course alterations and entry conditions were announced in November 2011, but these did not prevent two horses being killed in the 2012 Grand National. Further changes were introduced at the end of last year and more in recent weeks. But features that make the race so lethal remain unchanged.
Last month, Animal Aid published the report Deathwatch 2012, drawn from its online database that records the deaths of thoroughbreds on all British racecourses. The report reveals that Aintree was the most lethal of all Britainâs 60 racecourses in 2012, when deaths are evaluated in relation to the number of daysâ racing. Six horses died at Aintree in just eight days of racing. Three of those fatalities occurred during the three-day Grand National meeting.
âThe time has come for Aintree Racecourse to face what for them is an unpalatable truth: the tide of public opinion is turning against its perversely cruel spectacle. An NOP poll conducted on behalf of Animal Aid last year revealed that, of those respondents who expressed a clear opinion, the majority feels that the Grand National is cruel. Our message is clear: people should stop backing this horror show and donate their money instead to sanctuaries that help horses â not to an industry that exploits and kills them.â

Spanish MPs have voted to consider giving bullfighting special cultural status – a move that could overturn regional bans on the age-old tradition
The number of bullfights each year is falling in Spain
In a 180-40 vote, the parliament backed a petition signed by 590,000 people.
The tradition dates back at least 4,000 years and is thought to have been popularised by the Romans
It remains popular in southern France, Portugal and some South American countries
On Tuesday, the popular petition was easily backed in parliament, where the governing conservative Popular Party (PP) has a majority.
Under the proposal, bullfighting would be promoted by the authorities who would also push the UN to recognise it as part of Spain’s cultural heritage.
A parliamentary commission is now expected to fine-tune proposed legislation and the vote could take place later this year.
The parliamentary vote is an attempt by pro-bullfighting conservatives to keep this controversial tradition alive, the BBC’s Tom Burridge reports.
About 2,000 fights are still held every year in Spain, but the numbers are falling.
Bullfighting was banned last year in Catalonia, in the north-east, with supporters of the measure describing the blood-soaked pageants as barbaric.
The ban in Catalonia was also seen by many Spaniards as an attempt by Catalan nationalists to distinguish the region from the rest of Spain and its traditions.
Bullfighting was also banned in the Canary Islands in 1991.
From the moment the bull enters the ring, he is destined to die. His death will be slow and painful, and the last moments of his life will be full of terror and confusion as he hears the sounds of a jeering crowd. For the bull, bullfighting is no âcompetitionâ. It is simply slaughter for human entertainment.

Labour’s Mary Creagh accused ministers of “pretending this isn’t happening”.
The government said it was working with businesses to enforce regulations.
It is the latest company to be caught up in the controversy surrounding contamination of meat products, which has affected companies in the UK, Irish Republic, Poland and France.
Last month, Irish food inspectors announced they had found horsemeat in some burgers stocked by a number of UK supermarket chains, including Tesco, Iceland and Lidl.
Ms Creagh expressed fears that there were further revelations to come from the food industry.
“What we have had over the last four weeks is a constant drip, drip, drip of revelations from the food industry, from the Food Standards Agency, and what I am worried about is that the more they are testing for horse, the more they are finding,” she said.
She suggested official guidance was needed on whether people should eat other processed foods labelled as containing beef.
“I certainly wouldn’t, but I’m waiting for the government, the experts, the scientists, to tell us and issue proper clear advice for consumers,” she said.
“It’s simply not good enough for ministers to sit at their desks and pretend this isn’t happening.”
Environment SecretaryOwen Paterson called the Findus discovery “completely unacceptable” and said the presence of unauthorised ingredients in foods “cannot be tolerated”.
Mr Paterson said the government was working closely with businesses to “root out any illegalactivity” and enforce regulations.
“Consumers can be confident that we will take whatever action we consider necessary if we discover evidence of criminality or negligence,” he said.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said it was “highly likely” criminal activity was to blame for the contamination.
Chief executive Catherine Brown told the BBC: “I have to say that the two cases of gross contamination that we see here indicates that it is highly likely there has been criminal and fraudulent activity involved.
“We are demanding that food businesses conduct authenticity tests on all beef products, such as beef burgers, meatballs and lasagne, and provide the results to the FSA. The tests will be for the presence of significant levels of horsemeat.”
The agency has asked for test results by next Friday.
Police in the UK and Europe were involved in the investigations into the contaminated products, the FSA said.
It added: “People have been asking whether it is safe to eat any frozen meat products at the moment.
“There is no reason to suspect that there’s any health issue with frozen food in general, and we wouldn’t advise people to stop eating it.”

Findus Beef Lasagne Meals 100% Horsemeat Shoppers who have bought the ready meals have been advised not to eat them and to return them to the shops. 9:51pm UK, Thursday 07 February 2013 Findus.

The FSA said there was no evidence of a health risk from the contaminated lasagne, but has also ordered Findus to test the products for the veterinary drug phenylbutazone, or “bute”.
“Animals treated with phenylbutazone are not allowed to enter the food chain as [the drug] may pose a risk to human health,” it said.

Findus’s affected products were made by a third-party French supplier, Comigel, which had alerted the company to concerns that the beef lasagne product did not “conform to specification”.
The FSA said Findus had tested 18 of its beef lasagne products and found 11 meals containing between 60% and 100% horsemeat.
Findus had withdrawn its beef lasagne in 320g, 360g and 500g sizes as a precaution on Monday.
The company said: “We understand this is a very sensitive subject for consumers and we would like to reassure you we have reacted immediately. We do not believe this to be a food safety issue.
“We are confident that we have fully resolved this supply chain issue. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused.”
It said all its other products had been tested and were not affected.
A statement from the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA) said it “deplores the latest reported incidents of gross contamination of someprocessed meatproducts“.
“The BMPA has urged its members to be vigilant, and to review their raw material and ingredients-sourcing procedures in order to ensure that they meet their responsibilities to produce safe food and to describe and label their products accurately.”
Supermarket chains Tesco and Aldi have also withdrawn some beef products
Earlier this week, Comigel had advised Findus and Aldi to withdraw Findus Beef Lasagne and Aldi’s Today’s Special Frozen Beef Lasagne and Today’s Special Frozen Spaghetti Bolognese.
An Aldi spokesman said its products had been withdrawn immediately and the retailer was carrying out its own investigations.
“The products will remain withdrawn from sale until we are confident that the meat content complies with the specification presented to us,” he said, adding that customers could claim refunds by returning packaged products.
Tesco also decided to withdraw Everyday Value Spaghetti Bolognese.
The Tesco product was produced at the same Comigel site but there was no evidence of contamination, the supermarket said.
It will take months and months of special care to restore this puppy’s health but we will not fail her. The indifference to these animals will not win in Tunica County.
We are here and we will heal this innocent baby. Even when I was taking these pictures, her little tail was wagging against the kennel.
How these dogs can be so forgiving, I will never understand. That is why we as humans can learn so much from these animals. They teach us to be kinder human beings.
Noel is being treated by a veterinarian for her deluge of maladies.

His name is Tidus, and what happened to him, could happened to your dogâŚ
Two weeks ago, Tidus was happily playing in the park with his owner, a normal evening walk/play socializing with other dogs⌠All of a sudden, Tidus was nowhere to be seen.
His owner looked everywhere for him. He was wearing his collar, tag with telephone number, microchip, surely if he was lost he would be found and returned to her⌠Minutes passed, one hour and there was no trace of Tidus. The park and every adjacent street are combed. There was no trace.
Someone says he has seen a group of youngsters walking towards a solitary part of town walking with a tail wagging dog.
Tidus was found three hours later, and nothing could prepare itâs owner for what she was about to find.
There he was, tied to a fence, she called him but he doesn’t come, he twists and whimpers in agony.
Tidus had been burned alive. Someone dozed him in alcohol and set him alight.
Judging by the extent and depth of the burns, for a time that must have seemed like an eternity Tidus was transformed into a ball of fire. 75% of his body presents third degree burns, both the epidermis and dermis have been consumed by the fire.
The brutal attack happened two weeks ago. During this time, the impoverished owner tried to reach out for assistance, but no one helped. The offers of help she received never materialized, some people sent her gaze, others towels, serum, gave her suggestions on how to tend the wounds herself, but no one offered help to take the dog to a vet.
Two weeksâŚÂ two weeks living as walking burnt skeleton, in excruciating agony, barely able to eat, every single move hurts⌠no treatment.
Tidus has lived in hell for two weeks, but the wait is over now.. Yesterday night we heard about his plea and immediately took action. It was late at night when he arrived to our clinic, the stench of rotten flesh engulfed the room instantly.
Tidus is now on intensive care. He is receiving IV, painkillers, anti-inflammatory medication and antibiotics. We must bring the pain down to manageable levels, keep him hydrated, and stop the spread of infection before starting work on how to get his skin back naturally or through skin grafts. But for now, the challenge is to stabilize him and keep him alive.
This morning Tidus received a blood transfusion from one of my own dogsâŚ
Tomorrow we will start the painful process of cutting the dead skin, cleaning the area and carefully treating the burns section by section. The healing process will take months.
We are Tidus last hope. His last chance, his last shot at life. After us, there is nothing but pain and death for this little brave dog.
Please help us offer him a second chance. Help him prove the world that he is a big and strong brave dog. He has survived two weeks with little to no care.. We must help him. I cannot think of more worthy cause today âŚ

Update November 28
Today it has been an incredible day for Tidus. We would go as far as saying that this has been the first day since those criminals burned him alive that he experienced something similar to peace and comfort.

Right now our priorities are to strengthen his immune system so that we can avoid widespread infection. We are using antibiotics and painkillers and their effect has given Tidus the first few hours of deep sleep in a very very long time.
Tidus condition, however, remains critical. His blood levels are horrible and although he is fighting infection as hard as he can itâs too early for us to say that heâs out of danger. Once heâll be totally stable and on the way to recovery we will start looking into the best possible option to treat and repair his burned skin. For now Tidus is being treated with a special cream, honey-based, that works wonders for burn patientsâŚ

Some of you ask me, is he in pain? Wouldn’t be better to gently put him to sleep? The answer is yes, he is in pain, now, but he wonât be in pain in the future, and would it be better to kill him? Better for whom? For Tidus? No. He wants to live, heâs eating, heâs fighting, heâs someone that has seen a crime committed upon him and he needs help, not a needle in vein.
We are a rescue group, we rescue, we treat, we heal⌠killing is far too easy, doesn’t even require much thinking or skill. Everyone could kill Tidus, thatâs easy⌠not everyone can cure him⌠ Thatâs what Letâs Adopt Global stands forâŚ
