This is on fire — in days over a million have joined! But we need everyone to make this even bigger before it’s delivered to ministers. Forward the email below:

It’s a horror movie – hundreds of pregnant horses are hooked up to machines that drain their blood, even until death! All so big drug companies can sell their hormones to industrial pig farmers!! EU ministers meet in days and could ban this disgusting trade. Let’s jolt them into action with a massive call – sign the petition, and tell everyone!

Dear friends,

It’s straight out of a horror movie: hundreds of pregnant horses hooked up to blood-draining machines, some so weak they collapse and die. But we can stop this right now.

The industrial horse torture is driven by European pharmaceutical companies who use the blood to speed up factory farming! The EU has said it’s considering action, but so far nothing has happened.

No more horses need to die! Ministers are meeting next week — let’s light a fire under the EU with a massive petition demanding they ban the abusive pregnant horse blood trade. Add your name to the petition below and tell everyone:

Click to sign the petition

To the EU Parliament, Commission, and Council:
We call on you to ban the import to Europe of any goods produced using techniques which are cruel and cause suffering to animals. As a world leader in animal welfare, Europe should apply its own standards to products it imports.

Click to sign the petition

Death is far from the only horror: so much blood is taken that it can lead to shock and anaemia. And because only the blood of pregnant horses is valuable, they’re often forced into repeat pregnancies and abortions.

Demand is driven by pharmaceutical companies who sell the hormone found in pregnant horse blood to factory farmers to get pigs and other animals in “heat” on demand — another layer of abuse in this sorry story.

If we shine a light on this horror by raising a massive global outcry now, we can help get a ban of all products made from the suffering of animals — making it difficult for companies all over the world to make big profits from this disturbing industry. Add your name to the petition above then forward this to friends and family — let’s build pressure on the EU to act!

Click to sign the petition

Horses are full of beauty, grace and majesty — it’s hard to understand how people could be so cruel. But when we come together in massive numbers to protect animals from the horrors they face every day, we can do incredible things. Let’s do it now for these horses who need us to be their voice more than ever.

With hope,

Oliver, Rewan, Bert, Ari, Camille, Nataliya, Ricken and the entire Avaaz team

Monstrous children glue puppy’s eyes shut for ‘kicks’

“Sorry first news story I’ve posted in a very long time due to illness, hopefully as things improve, I will do more posts. Although keeping it pretty basic for now, apologies for any errors, not up to usual standard, still finding it hard!”

“WTF…Just think; these could be the kind of kids that could lead this nation in the centuries to come! Some will no doubt go on to commit more animal abuse, rape, murder etc. as is well documented; those who commit animal abuse as children usually go on to become psychopaths! What makes kids do this? Is it the parents fault or kids getting access to on-line media through gaming etc. that contains sick & downright evil & violent content. I don’t know, but I do know these kids need finding & be told just how wrong animal abuse is. I was sickened at the thought of kids doing this, so I just had to post in-case anyone knows the culprits.!! Link to help Sadie below; praying this little one will not loose her sight!!”

“Evil kids were bored and allegedly glued the puppy’s eyes shut. The damage to her eyesight will be assessed this weekend.  Rescue Dogs Rock NYC”

DESPICABLE ACT OF CRUELTY BY BORED CHILDREN!!

In a disturbing act of animal cruelty, a ten-pound puppy suffered one of the most horrendous acts of torture imaginable. According to Stacey Silverstein, of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, the tiny, ten-month old puppy’s eyes were glued shut. “A group of kids, we are told, glued both of her eyes shut for kicks! This is one of the scariest abuse cases we have seen in a very long time,” stated Stacey.

The egregious act of cruelty occurred in Henderson, North Carolina; the offenders have not yet been identified. Luckily the Friends of Vance County Animal Shelter came to Sadie’s rescue and contacted Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for help. Everyone who has met this little dog, comments about her sweet disposition. Sadie is scheduled to be transported to New York City this weekend where she will be evaluated by veterinarian specialists and treated appropriately. Follow her progress on the organization’s Facebook; or click link below.

Research has consistently shown that children’s acts of animal abuse closely correlates with bullying, corporal punishment, school shootings, sexual abuse, and developmental psychopathic behaviors. Animal abuse can be an indicator and a predictor of other violent acts. Parents in the Henderson area are being asked to carefully watch their pets and their children.

“We can only hope these children are caught and punished quickly! What will they do next time they are bored? Sounds like some future serial killers in the making! Top three warning signs for parents: bed wetting, starting fires and torturing animals,”

Stacey explained. If anyone has any information about this heinous crime, you are asked to call authorities. (sorry doesn’t give a number but if you know or suspect anything, I suggest contacting those that rescued Sadie)” Information will be kept confidential. Help Sadie find justice.

Backers of the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation anti-videoing legislation — “ag-gag” — have already lost the war, even if the legislation passes. Especially if it passes.

Their best hope is to change strategy.

Senate Bill 1337, which has passed the Senate, bars a person who “without the facility owner’s express consent or pursuant to judicial process or statutory authorization, makes audio or video recordings of the conduct of an agricultural production facility’s operations.” More specifically, it’s intended to ban (though various existing laws already theoretically do) the videotaping of what happens to livestock in concentrated animal feeding operations.

This is significant in Idaho, home to some very large CAFO operations in the Magic Valley and southwest. The new bill would punish violators with up to a year in jail or a $5,000 fine; critics note that’s the same as the state penalty for animal abuse.

Similar legislation has been proposed, most often failing to pass, in more than a dozen states; a Utah law is being challenged in the courts.

The Idaho bill was specifically prompted by a video shot in 2012 at Bettencourt Dairy at Hansen, showing workers beating on livestock. Last week another video shot at an Idaho CAFO, which added animal sexual abuse to the mix, was released. Both have had many, many views, and they’ve gone viral on social media.

We can’t know if the videos alone would have generated massive international attention. We do know the videos, combined with legislation to ban shooting more of them, has sent interest in the subject sky high in news reports nationally and overseas.

The story is irresistible: An attempt to keep the lid on what people have already seen. But memories aren’t so easily erased. Nor is the technology, which keeps moving in the direction of disclosure, as privacy advocates regularly remind us.

Among other responses to the bill are petitions — some inside Idaho, some by national animal advocacy groups. Petitions usually do little by themselves, but they can assist organization efforts, and they keep the subject visible.

Not only are smaller and relatively hard-core groups like Mercy for Animals, which released the Bettencourt videos, involved in this, but also larger and better-funded groups like the Humane Society of the United States. The subject of CAFO livestock has gone mainstream.

If you doubt that, watch the latest series offering from Netflix: The satirical but pointed “Farmed and Dangerous.” The initial plot hook involves an exploding cow. Once issues like this get into cultural discussion, national regulation and legislation may, in time, follow. It’s in the spotlight now.

The Magic Valley has benefited recently from arrival of a number of food processors who came there largely because of the easy supply of dairy products. Don’t be surprised if boycotts of some of them start — and lead to business responses. To see this playing out, Google the Wiese Brothers Farms in Wisconsin and read about the videos and other reports that led a frozen pizza company to cut all ties with them.

Nor is that all. If SB 1337 is signed into law (as seems likely), watch for this: An activist who deliberately violates it, shooting more video, intending to get caught, and insisting on a very public trial that could draw more national and international attention, kicking in the cycle all over again.

The problem for livestock operations is not insoluble. The simplest out is to improve and closely monitor operations, then throw open the doors for public viewing.

Some CAFO advocates have argued that much of what has been shown on the videos has been unusual aberrations, that most livestock is treated better before slaughter than the videos suggest. An open-door policy would be the one practical way to prove it.

Some of what inevitably happens in the best of meat processing businesses is of course difficult for many people to stomach, but the operators could fairly argue that if you want your meat at the supermarket, this is how it has to get there. Since most people do want their steaks and burgers, the argument might settle down, on at least higher ground than it occupies now.

Legislation has its uses. But CAFOs here have among other things a public relations problem, and these kinds of laws seldom are much help with that.

An investigation by ADI into a Korean “attraction” that forces monkeys to perform in degrading shows has revealed shocking conditions behind the scenes.
At the Monkey School, which is located in Gamgyori in South Korea, ADI found:

  • Monkeys kept in squalid and barren conditions, including mothers and their young babies
  • Traumatized animals exhibiting abnormal behaviour, such as constantly spinning around and biting themselves
  • Some monkeys isolated in tiny cages, others crammed together
  • Animals hit during training and dragged along the floor
  • Disgraceful contempt for a monkey as it tries to escape with its hands tied behind its back, falling onto its face, as workers laugh at its predicament and terror

These disturbing findings highlight a life of extreme neglect and cruelty for these intelligent and sensitive animals – an all too common occurrence for performing animals which ADI has revealed time and again, suffer terribly behind the scenes.

On seeing the footage, Sharon Shaw, Director of Lakeview Monkey Sanctuary in the UK said: “All aspects of life for primates at Monkey School are appalling, from the inadequate and atrocious housing conditions, the physical and psychological torture, to the lack of empathy and respect shown by the staff. The poor animals who are unlucky enough to live there endure a barbaric, unnatural life.”

During the public shows, monkeys are made to wear clothes, ride around on a motorbike, do handstands, jump through hoops and respond to commands as directed.

It is shameful that these intelligent, social and emotional primates are terrorized and forced to undertake such degrading tricks – especially in light of modern understanding of primates and their use of tools, language and self-awareness – abilities which, at one time, were considered to be unique to humans. This also sends the worst possible message to children about respect for the other intelligent species that share our planet and how we should treat, and protect, animals.

The terrible suffering of the animals at Monkey School – and establishments like them – must stop.

ADI is working with our campaign partner Korea Animal Rights Advocates (KARA) to encourage the Government and people of Korea to reject the cruel and unnecessary use of animals in entertainment.

We are supporting new legislation, the ‘Zoo Act’, proposed by Congresswoman Chang which, if passed, would ban animal performances and set minimum welfare standards and inspections for places that exhibit captive animals.

Highlighting the need for the legislation, Congresswoman Hanna Chang: “As seen in the ADI footage, it is hard to imagine the pain that monkeys have to go through for humans every day. This clearly shows that it is now time to have regulations to monitor the welfare of animals in captivity in Korea.”

Congresswoman Chang’s proposal has strong support from animal protection organizations. ADI and KARA have joined over 80 national and international groups in sending a joint letter to the Government stating support for the draft law.

It is time to end the exploitation of, and brutality towards, animals used for entertainment.

Help us campaign to end animal shows in Korea, and around the world.

Take action!

  • Michael the 18-month-old lion ‘got his head stuck between steel cables’
  • Zoo denies negligence saying animal must have been ‘playing around’
  • His body has disappeared and police have not been able to examine it
  • More than 40 animals died at zoo between July and September last year
  • Previous expose revealed dead giraffe had 20kgs of plastic in its stomach

Tiger’s digestive tract rotted after being fed meat laced with formaldehyde

The world’s cruellest zoo has claimed another victim after an African lion was found hanging in its cage, it emerged today.

Shocking: Michael the lion is found hanging in his cage after apparently getting his head stuck between steel cables at Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia which has been heavily criticised for its treatment of its animals

The Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia, which has outraged MailOnline readers around the world after an expose on the treatment of its animals, is being investigated by police following the death of the 18-month-old lion called Michael.

But the lion’s body was removed before police were able to examine it and cannot now be found.

A senior officer declined to say whether it was believed the zoo was trying to hamper the investigation.

Michael was found strangled in his cage after his head became stuck between steel cables, the Jakarta Globe reported today.

The tragedy comes just 24 hours after it was learned that a wildebeest died in its enclosure from a stomach problem, although the zoo said that the wet weather was partly to blame.” well of course they are not going to say otherwise!!”

The death of Michael the lion is certain to cause further demands from animal lovers around the world for urgent action to be carried out at the zoo.“Yes indeed, please sign the petition below, thanks; on behalf of the animals “

Closing it down, however, is not an option because no other zoo has expressed an interest in taking the animals. “Really? I can’t believe that?”

Latest statistics, covering the months between July and September last year, reveal that 43 animals died at the zoo during that period. “43 animal deaths, surely that is enough grounds to take away all the remaining animals & find them homes were they can behave in & on their natural habitat”

Horrific: Chained by three legs, this juvenile male elephant was one of several animals which featured in a recent expose for MailOnline last month that has outraged readers around the world

Among those which have died there previously is a giraffe that was found to have 20 kilograms of plastic in its stomach and a Sumatran tiger found to have a rotten digestive tract after being regularly fed meat laced with formaldehyde.

In the wake of Michael the lion’s death, zoo spokesman Agus Supangkat denied that his death was caused by zookeepers’ negligence.

We are still investigating how the steel cables could entrap the African lion’s head,‘ he told the Globe.

‘Michael was relatively young. He was only one and a half years old. It could be that he was playing around and somehow his head got stuck.’

Mr Agus said each of the zoo’s lions – there are now only four left – spends its days in two different cages.

Each morning, the lions are taken to a display cage where visitors can view them. Then, in the afternoon they are moved to another cage where they sleep, said Mr Agus.

He explained that the zoo used steel cables to secure the cage so zookeepers did not have to manually open or close the cage door with their hands.

This, he said, was a safety precaution to prevent the keepers being injured.

Michael was sent to the zoo last March by the East Java Natural Resources Conservation Agency

Emaciated: This camel’s ribs were plain to see as it ate grass in its enclosure when reporter Richard Shears visited the zoo last month

Surabaya Police detectives chief Senior Commander Farman told the Globe that a team of officers had visited the zoo to gather evidence but the corpse was missing.

He said that if the lion’s body could be found ‘we are going to wait for the autopsy results, then we can further examine the case.’ “Well somebody knows where the body is, probably the one that killed it, or found it dead, so I suggest the police move up a gear & kick some Ass!”

Dwindling numbers: A zoo spokesman said each of the lions – there are now only four left – spends its days in two different cages, one for displaying to visitors, the other for sleeping

A MailOnline investigation into the zoo before Christmas found numerous cases of animals living in miserable conditions, including a young elephant that was chained by three legs, one of which was ulcerated because of its tight shackles.

Dozens of petitions were started pleading for the zoo to be closed and animal rights groups have added their voice to the demands.

Exposed: A MailOnline probe before Christmas found several cases of animals in miserable conditions

But a management team, headed by the Surabaya Mayor, Mrs Tri Rismaharini, has resisted improvements saying they want to retain the original structures erected by Dutch colonialists in 1916.

News Link:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2535918/Lion-hanging-cage-latest-victim-wretched-Indonesian-animal-park-dubbed-zoo-death.html

“WTF…only a non caring animal lover would say such a thing; all zoos have to be updated to fulfil regulations etc. protecting the animal & the public. But the animals should also be allowed to exhibit normal  behaviour; to do so they better make a start & build cages that give the animal a sense of freedom, to allow natural behaviour.

I believe all animals, whatever they do or where ever they are; are entitled to the 5 F’s

Five Freedoms

The welfare of an animal includes its physical and mental state and we consider that good animal welfare implies both fitness and a sense of well-being. Any animal kept by man, must at least, be protected from unnecessary suffering.

We believe that an animal’s welfare, whether on farm, in transit, at market or at a place of slaughter should be considered in terms of ‘five freedoms’. These freedoms define ideal states rather than standards for acceptable welfare. They form a logical and comprehensive framework for analysis of welfare within any system together with the steps and compromises necessary to safeguard and improve welfare within the proper constraints of an effective livestock industry.

1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst – by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.

2. Freedom from Discomfort – by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.

3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease – by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.

4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour – by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind.

5. Freedom from Fear and Distress – by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.

Now I bet not many facilities can attest to the above, but they should; a simple act to follow! Surely if an animal is going to be used by humans for entertainment or killed for its meat; it is entitled to a decent life, before its last breath!!!! Living in the countryside, I’m just glad I see animals in fields  & know that I can look them in the eye , & say sorry you’re going to be slaughtered; but I shall never eat you or your friends”

Raw: Horrifying footage of starved Sumatran Tiger in ‘World’s Cruellest Zoo’

Published on 27 Dec 2013 – CCTVNEWS24/7

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TO UNDERSTAND THE URGENCY IN HELPING THESE SUFFERING ANIMALS!

Horrifying footage of starved Sumatran tiger in ‘world’s cruellest zoo’ AP visited Indonesia’s Surayaba Zoo, where 50 animals have allegedly died in the last three months. One giraffe died with 20kg of plastic bags in its stomach.

World’s cruellest zoo: Shackled elephants, starving camels, 150 pelicans crammed into one cage – and a death toll that rises daily.

More than 50 animals have died in the last three months at Indonesia’s Surayaba Zoo, a former keeper has claimed
One giraffe died last year with 20kg of plastic bags in its stomach after they blew into its cage and weren’t cleared.

In another case, a Sumatran tiger’s digestive tract rotted away after it was routinely fed formaldehyde-laced meat
A Zoo spokesman defended the attraction, branded the worst in the world, but admitted: ‘We also have issues’

The young elephant has tugged at his shackled hind leg so often that the manacles have cut through the flesh, leaving it raw.

Not that freeing himself would help. A chain on his left front leg means he can move neither forwards, backwards nor sideways.

The elephant’s owner has tethered the youngster because he prefers to tend to his small shop in the grounds of the Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia.

Money comes first. And so, day after day, week after week, the elephant stands there, being released from his chains only at the end of each day.

Anyone finding the scene depressing, and who turns away to look for more happy animals in the zoo would eventually leave, as I did, utterly depressed.

Surabaya Zoo has been branded the worst in the world and when I walked through this animal torture ground I was left in no doubt its reputation was well-earned.

I live near Sydney harbour where it is a joy to watch pelicans gliding low across the waters of Blackwattle Bay. But at the Surabaya Zoo I could only shake my head in despair at the sight of more than 150 pelicans jammed into a cage, trying to share a small pool of water, so tightly packed that they could not even spread their wings, let alone fly.

‘How many pelicans does this zoo need?’ I asked a keeper. ‘They’re not endangered. There’s no need to keep this many penned in.’ He knew what I said, but I received only shrugs.

Each step took me through a macabre animal dungeon. While I saw dishes of chopped vegetables for the primates, the ribs of several large animals could be seen. One camel in particular appeared appallingly thin. A Capuchin monkey I came across appeared to almost plead to be released.

In another cage, a sad rhinoceros horn bill looks up at the blue sky, trying to take off from its perch, but there is no room to flap its wings.

Well over 50 animals have died here in the past three months, says Tony Sumampau, a former member of the zoo’s temporary management team, who had finally left in despair. ‘The keepers have stalls that they run selling food and drinks and it’s more important for them to make money than it is to be taking care of their animals.’

The zoo, was opened in 1916 during Dutch colonial rule, and next to nothing has been done to improve it. Instead, more and more animals have been packed in.
A report by an independent team set up by Indonesia’s forestry ministry called for the animals be moved to other zoos but nothing has been done. Other zoos refuse to take the animals because of their condition and the fear that many of them carrying diseases.

The state of the zoo’s animals came to world-wide attention following the death of a giraffe in 2012 that was found with no less than 20 kilograms of plastic bags in its stomach. They had blown into its enclosure and the keepers had not bothered to pick them up.

The giraffe’s death would possibly have faded from the world’s conscience had it not been for the discovery of a dead female orang-utan, Nanik, in its enclosure a few weeks ago. Orang-utans, an endangered species, live up to the age of 60 in captivity, but Nanik was just 12 years old when she died, a large tumour being found in her intestines.

Sitting alone is another orang-utan. I cannot believe what I see — she is chewing on the yellow top of a marker pen someone has thrown at her. She pushes it forward between her lips, then sucks it back into her mouth. I fear she will soon swallow it. Beside her, rats scurry in and out of holes around her!

I stare at a Sumatran tiger — or rather just its face — as it peers out from behind the bars of its stone living quarters. One of its brothers, I was told, had been seriously ill with its digestive tract rotted away due to the formaldehyde-laced meat it had been fed. An African lion is reported to have died in pain, adding to the zoo’s shameful catalogue of deaths from starvation, mistreatment and other unnatural causes.

Just A Few Petitions to stop this abuse:-

“These important signatures are to support shutting this zoo or getting some sort of management in that can raise the welfare of the animals: & getting rid of those that just don’t give a shit about the animals, just their pay packet!!”

World’s cruellest zoo: Shackled elephants, starving camels, 150 pelicans crammed into one cage – and a death toll that rises daily

  • More than 50 animals have died in the last three months at Indonesia’s Surayaba Zoo, a former keeper has claimed
  • One giraffe died last year with 20kg of plastic bags in its stomach after they blew into its cage and weren’t cleared
  • In another case, a Sumatran tiger’s digestive tract rotted away after it was routinely fed formaldehyde-laced meat

A Zoo spokesman defended the attraction, branded the worst in the world, but admitted: ‘We also have issues’

The young elephant has tugged at his shackled hind leg so often that the manacles have cut through the flesh, leaving it raw.

Conditions: A former keeper said more than 50 animals have died at the zoo in three months. This calf’s owner tethered it because he preferred to tend to his shop

Not that freeing himself would help. A chain on his left front leg means he can move neither forwards, backwards nor sideways.

The elephant’s owner has tethered the youngster because he prefers to tend to his small shop in the grounds of the Surabaya Zoo in Indonesia

Cramped: This Sumatran tiger groaned as it sat in a brick hutch. One tiger last year died after its digestive tract was rotted by the formaldehyde-laced meat it ate

Overcrowded: One aviary appeared packed to the brim with a mixture of herons and ibises, while another had 150 pelicans crammed into one cage together

Marooned: A Moor macaque sat on its own on this island, surrounded by water with no trees to climb – only a chopped-down stump where a tree once grew

In another cage, a sad rhinoceros hornbill looks up at the blue sky, trying to take off from its perch, but there is no room to flap its wings.

Bleak: This stark enclosure including a tank full of dirty water contained a solitary African pygmy hippo, pictured – which ironically enough was named Joy

The state of the zoo’s animals came to world-wide attention following the death of a giraffe in 2012 that was found with no less than 20 kilograms of plastic bags in its stomach. They had blown into its enclosure and the keepers had not bothered to pick them up.

The giraffe’s death would possibly have faded from the world’s conscience had it not been for the discovery of a dead female orangutan, Nanik, in its enclosure a few weeks ago. Orangutans, an endangered species, live up to the age of 60 in captivity, but Nanik was just 12 years old when she died, a large tumour being found in her intestines.

Sitting alone is another orangutan. I cannot believe what I see – she is chewing on the yellow top of a marker pen someone has thrown at her. She pushes it forward between her lips, then sucks it back into her mouth. I fear she will soon swallow it. Beside her, rats scurry in and out of holes in an embankment.

Rat-infested: A female orangutan played with a plastic marker pen in her mouth while a rat, bottom right, poked its head out of one of several holes on the bank

BPD Investigating Puppy Set on Fire

Comments Off on BPD Investigating Puppy Set on Fire

“Why does this not surprise me…because I have seen so many innocent sentient beings; who have been treated in such a heinous despicable way! The Sxxt or Sxxt’s that did this, even if it turns out to be little rug rats…should pay dearly!”

“By that I don’t mean a slap on the wrist, I mean a punishment that will make them think twice about doing this again…sometimes the only way is a shock factor…so set the little shit that did this on fire…see how long he will last before someone kindly doused the flames.”

“Sorry if that seems a bit harsh, but crimes like this are happening everyday around the world. The only reason why… is because the Fxxxxxg Sxxt heads that do this kind of fxxxxd up shit… know nothing will be done if they are caught…so I suggest they try a different approach!!!”

Updated Oct 30, 2012 at 6:50 PM Buffalo, NY (WKBW) – A puppy, running around caught on fire, was found Monday evening in a Buffalo neighborhood.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

Remarkably, that puppy is still alive — and now police are investigating this case of animal cruelty.

At just 16-weeks old, the little Jack Russel Terrier does not even have a name. However, the images show a heartbreaking life.

Burned from head-to-toe, a neighbor saw him on fire on the 200 block of Herman Street in Buffalo.

Mary Baldwin, she called 9-1-1 at first thought it was a paper on fire — and then questioned maybe a house. She says “and then I saw the little feet running and I said no that’s a dog, that’s a dog!”

Baldwin says a man across the street then smoldered the flames.

Police found the little Jack Russel Terrier in a backyard, where neighbors say there’s a whole litter of puppies.

The puppy is now recovering at the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital.

Veterinarian Dr. Rebecca Wagner says “We had to treat him with shock, fluids and certain medications to help get his blood pressure up.”

The Buffalo Police Department, Buffalo Fire Department and Buffalo Animal Control are investigating.

There is a chance the puppy had been doused in lighter fluid.

Mike DeGeorge, with the City of Buffalo, explains “When the puppy was brought here, there was the smell. Other than that I would just say it remains under investigation.”

His fur coat is charred, ears crinkled back and eyes swollen shut. Wagner explains “His eyes are completely swollen today and it’s going to be worse in the next five days or so.”

The next five to seven days will determine the little puppy’s fate.

Veterinarians do not know yet if he will make it — but they have hope.

“He was completely white and ghostlike when he came here,” Wagner says. “Now he’s a little more pinkish.”

It will be expensive for the Buffalo Animal Shelter to care for the burned puppy. No one knows his name or who he belongs to. He did not have any tags or identification.

If the puppy recovers, the shelter will put him up for adoption.

Several people have reached out to Eyewitness News asking how they can help.

The phone number for the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital is 716-852-1112.

There are no arrests or known suspects in this case. Anyone with information should call or text the Buffalo Police Tipline at 716-851-5694.

Bestiality: On the increase in Nigeria – Animals Should Be Protected Under Brambell’s 5 Freedoms

Comments Off on Bestiality: On the increase in Nigeria – Animals Should Be Protected Under Brambell’s 5 Freedoms

I did my first post on Bestiality Brothels in the EU way back in July, which I found disgustingly sickening, but without the voices of animal advocates etc; animals will suffer in silence & I can not allow that. Since that post I have covered several on the topic, but it never gets easier to post, especially as I read the entire post first; so I can then highlight certain sentences or phrases I deem important.”

“Only the other day I did a post about a woman, apparently arrested for sodomising her dog. I don’t normally allow comments because I don’t have time, I would spend far too much time reading & writing comments, then be in too much pain to post stories.”

“However, due to the disturbing nature of the post, I allowed comments. Almost immediately, I got 2 comments from the woman’s daughter, professing her innocence in the matter! Perhaps she didn’t do it, but surely she must have known it was going on? I have seen pictures of sodomised dogs, it’s very noticeable; especially when the dog is near death due to internal injuries…so I don’t know how she missed the signs! Read the comments yourself, see what you make of them, leave a comment if you so wish.”

In my opinion, anyone who thinks bestiality is normal or acceptable…needs serious help to make them see what they are doing is wrong, it’s both immoral & socially unacceptable. If & when Animal Abuse Registry’s are enforced, any person caught sodomising an animal should have their name on it. Animals have rights, the 5 F’s sometimes referred to as Brambell’s Five Freedoms.

“This applies to all animals, irrelative of breed! The 5 F’s should be considered as standard worldwide. Heinous act of zoophilia, bestiality or sodomy is not ..normal people don’t see animals as sexual partners

The Farm Animal Welfare Council adopts this concept & I see no reason why bestiality can’t be included. We have a duty to protect animals from humans who seek them out as willing or equal partners”.

The welfare of an animal includes its physical and mental state and we consider that good animal welfare implies both fitness and a sense of well-being. Any animal kept by man, must at least, be protected from unnecessary suffering.

An animal’s welfare, whether on farm, in transit, at market or at a place of slaughter should be considered in terms of ‘five freedoms’.

(A resting area – being able to relax;  not be on guard in constant fear from perverted humans )

3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease – by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment. (This must include freedom from humans using said animal unnatural carnal copulation for personal pleasure)

4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour – by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind. (In company of their own kind, not humans seeking personal pleasure)

5. Freedom from Fear and Distress – by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering. (This must include freedom from humans using said animal for their own sexual gratification)

With the increase in cases of bestiality among Nigerians, it is unclear why the culprits abandon the natural man-woman sexual relationship for the unconventional means of satisfying their libidos.

It is also foggy as to what could be the sexual attraction of man to animal or the sense behind the call for legitimisation of bestiality in some countries, more so  when the Senate in the United States recently passed into law bill legalising sodomy and bestiality in the U.S. military, thus giving soldiers ample opportunity to practise it freely without facing prosecution.

A U.S. born zoophile was quoted in an online text as saying that there was nothing bad in zoophilia, hence the need to have it legitimised. Said he: “I believe that bestiality, as a sexual choice, should be given the same legal rights and social respect as the heterosexual and homosexual human-human relationships.  I am a practising zoophile who regularly engages in group sex with my fully-matured Rottweilers (both male and female) who willingly and often actively reciprocate the intimate eroticity. We all enjoy it immensely, so what’s wrong with it?”

Another zoophile in the U.S., Carlos Romero, who was arrested for having sex with his donkey, told an online news medium that he practised bestiality because he never felt comfortable around people, and that he was not,”a people person.”

Animals, according to him, “are usually there for you, and their feelings are 100 per cent honest, compared to humans who stab you in the back, give you diseases, lie to you and are promiscuous.”

To Tunde Aramide, a zoologist and animal rights activist, no reasonable person could justify bestiality.Apart from being barbaric, unnatural, repugnant and unjustifiable, those who practise bestiality are abusers of animals who capitalise on the nature of these animals to take undue advantage of them. Bestiality, if you consider it critically, is synonymous with animal rape and other forms of sexual abuse against them. It is illegal and those who do it should be prosecuted.

“Though sexual behaviour of individual persons is always considered a private matter and confined to the realm of morality, no society approves of cross-species sexual intimacy. Those who abuse animals sexually or otherwise are guilty of God’s judgment, because God never wants them exploited. The animals are defenseless and voiceless, yet their basic rights to good living condition should, at least, be respected,” he added.

On why bestiality is on the increase in the country, those who speak with Sunday Tribune, said inability of many in Nigeria to see animals as creatures with defined rights had contributed to the rise.

Mrs Yewande Ogunleyin, a lawyer, said those who practised bestiality were “crude and insane persons who never see sexual molestation of animals as unlawful or unnatural. Their sense of judgement is impaired, so they can’t think properly.

Citing section (214) subsection (2) of Criminal Code, she disclosed that animals too enjoyed the protection of the law as, “any person(s) who have carnal knowledge of an animal… is guilty of felony and liable for 14 years imprisonment.

According to Johnson Oyeleke, a clinical psychologist at the Department of Psychology, University of Ibadan, bestiality is an issue bordering on personality problem, saying those who engage in it behave like animals because their perception of normal things has been impaired.

“It is purely a personality problem. Those who claimed it is their nature to engage in bestiality need clinical assessment to ascertain whether they have personality problem or not. What is the underlining factor that makes you attracted to animals in the first place?

“It shows that they  have some problems inside of them. When they come, there are some tools clinical psychologists will apply on them that will bring out those underlying factors that make them attracted to animals.”

Most clerics, who spoke with Sunday Tribune, said incidents of man sleeping with animals had spiritual implication. Some of the zoophiles, according to Pastor Ayo Adejugbe of Living Faith Church, Ibadan, “sleep with animals as a spiritual prerequisite of money-making rituals. This may sound unreasonable to those in the West, but no African, I’m sure, will dispute this.”

An Islamic leader, Alhaji Ganiyu Olujimi, said, “Islam forbids bestiality. Allah forbids any intercourse between man and animal. Those who do it are not Muslims, they practise it for spiritual reasons, probably to acquire power or money. It is not ordinary.”

High Chief Yemi Elebuibon, described bestiality as inhuman and barbaric, adding that it had no basis in African traditional religion.

“You can’t rule that out in the society, because there are goats and dogs among humans too. There is no corpus of Ifa that is in support of people sleeping with animals in order to get rich.”

A demographer with the National Population Census (NPC), Ms Beatrice Daniel, said the age bracket of zoophiles in the country ranged between 25 and 50, noting that this is suggestive of certain lopsidedness in the society and mental confusion of youths in the country.

“What is happening suggests that those who do bestiality are in for it for a purpose. It may be argued that they are insane or have other forms of psychological problems. The fact, however, remains that this society rebuffs discipline and rewards corruption or immorality and permissiveness.

Acquiring power or money with little stress holds a great appeal to these youths. If sleeping with a goat will bring money or power to somebody wallowing in poverty, he will definitely agree to sleep with as many goats as possible. It is not ordinary, and I believe people do it for a purpose other than seeking for mere sexual gratification.”

Though many are of the opinion that zoophiles need medical treatment and psychotherapy, many also believe that more of them need to be put on trial for a deterrent effect, because allowing zoophilia and zoophiles to go unpunished in any sane society weakens the moral foundation of such a society.

They can contract zoonotic diseases —Prof Oyeyemi

BESTIALITY seems to be on the increase among Nigerians these days, what do you see to this?

Professor Matthew Oyeyemi, Department of Veterinary Surgery, Univesity of Ibadan

With what we have heard and seen here, there are two categories of people that practise bestiality, those who do it for ritual purposes and those who are involved in it for pure immoral reasons.

What do you think should be the roles of animal rights activists in preventing sexual abuse of animals?
It is something that is just coming up; it is true that animals have rights. For example, you don’t maltreat them, you don’t mate animals of different species, it is unlawful and unnatural. It is only animals of same species that should be mated. If somebody violates animal rights, it has punishment under the law. Those in charge should ensure that whoever that abuses animals sexually should be punished or made to face the wrath of the law. They should be apprehended and punished.

Are you saying there is a particular legislation that protects the rights of animals in the country?
There are animal rights, but I may not be specific about this, because it is just a new thing that started to happen in our society. The first case that happened was reported about three years ago.

Could you brief us about the specific rights of animals, what rights do they enjoy under the law?
Under the law animals are supposed to be fed; they have rights to good housing; you don’t perform euthanasia on animals or test dangerous drugs on them. You don’t kill them anyhow.

Does bestiality have any health risks, especially on the part of humans who engage in it?
Yes. There  are  venereal diseases among animals which could be passed onto human beings through sexual intercourse. There was the case of a man caught around 1.00 a.m. having sex with a cow, I wouldn’t mention the place because it is still under investigation. We were  contacted to give professional advice on the issue. The guy was admitted to hospital with his manhood swollen and bruised. He  was diagnosed with a venereal disease which he  contracted from the cow.  The  man confessed to having slept with the animal. So, when there is an intercourse between an animal and man, the man is at risk of contracting venereal and other  dangerous  diseases, like campylobacteriosis, toxoplasimosis.

Do animals feel sexually attracted to human beings?
Unlike human beings, animals have time of sexual arousal called heat. During their heat period, they are aroused sexually and any animal that climbs on them at that moment can have sex with them, but we don’t encourage that because animals of different species are not allowed to mate.

Zoophiles didn’t go through proper socialisation —Dr Olley

COULD you tell us what bestiality means?
First and foremost, bestiality is a sexual deviation; it is one of the classifications of improper or unconventional sexual behaviour. Essentially, sexual deviation occurs when there is an unconventional sexual gratification. The conventional way  for sexual gratification is when there is sex between man and woman, in other words, when the female and male genders meet.

Dr Benjamin Olley, clinical psychologist, Department of Psychology, UI

However, there are people who receive sexual gratification through unconventional means. That is why they are called sexual deviants, and there are several of them; masochism, sadism, paedophile, voyeurism.

Bestiality, in essence, means receiving sexual satisfaction by sleeping deliberately with animals. It could be any animal, dogs, apes, chimpanzees etc. As a matter of fact, there is  a theory that states that the  source  of HIV/AIDS is traceable to  a sexual intercourse between a man and chimpanzee. The disease  got transmitted from the animal and it started spreading according to the theory.

In Nigeria, we have had one or two cases of humans sleeping with animals; it may not be for sexual satisfaction per se, it could be for commercial reason, like making prostitutes to sleep with dogs. But bestiality essentially happens when humans sleep with animals deliberately with the aim of having sexual excitement. It is a sexual disorder and a psychiatric condition any human being can suffer from.

What psychological factors could make one engage in the sexual practice?
Several reasons could make one engage in bestiality. It could be because one is suffering certain unresolved conflicts from childhood, it could also be  as  a  result of  lack of sexual outlets (I mean when  you  are  confined to an environment where interaction with your fellow human beings is difficult and the the only source  of  sexual attraction is an animal close by). It could be a trait of anti-social personality disorder, or a symptom of mental retardation, mentally-retarded people could lose their sense of judgment and as a result sleep with an animal.

It could also be a personality problem occasioned by one’s inability to speak or interact normally with fellow human beings. In this part of the world, one cannot rule out the possibility of supernatural forces. In other words, one could be under a strong spell to engage in bestiality. Nevertheless, the sufferers should be  made to receive adequate treatment, in form of psychotherapy or proper medical treatment.

You made mention of unresolved conflicts as a contributory factor to why many engage in bestiality, would say there are certain social forces that create or trigger  these conflicts within an individual?
According to Sigmund Freud in Psychoanalysis, a school of thought in Psychology, there are some infantile unresolved conflicts that we are not aware of, but they determine some of our behaviours. They are not spoken of, yet they are embedded right in our subconscious level and later find a way of escaping through our errors and mistakes. There are some past experiences we project into the present behaviour, and we are  not conscious of them. We need to resolve those conflicts or what Freud called “sexual pleasures or instincts” before we can do things in a worthy manner.

The sexual instinct in man will want him to satisfy his urge immediately without thinking about the consequences, but we need to teach people to  delay  their  urges. It is not everything you want you can have access to. This is one of the reasons people can’t prevent corruption. You want something you can’t afford immediately, but can’t wait till you can afford it and, as such, you do so many anti-social things just to satisfy that need. Some people are like that, because they didn’t go through proper socialisation, their consciences are not well-developed. These are the people who have unresolved conflicts in them which ought to have been resolved in time past. If you don’t resolve certain things at your tender age, you will carry  them over and begin to manifest them in your adult behaviour.

Is it right to call bestiality a sexual orientation, just like LGBT  since most people who practise it believe that their bodies are naturally conditioned to making love to animals?
Homosexuality or lesbianism is not a sexual deviation. Even though it is unconventional to some people, it is not a psychiatric condition. Depending on the school of thought you operate, homosexuality is an opinion or sexual feeling you have for someone like you. It is an orientation; it is different from bestiality. Bestiality is an unconventional means of sexual gratification.

Dog Owner Charged in Animal Sodomy Case – Your Comments On This??

“SICK BITCH (what else can I call her?)…Something is not quite right here, there is more to tell on this story! There is only one way a dog or any animals suffers from wounds like that.. SOMEBODY PURPOSEFULLY SODOMISED the poor animal. Remember this face & the name because this bitch has a lot to answer for! SHE MAKES ME FEEL PHYSICALLY SICK! “

Waterbury police arrested Dawn Dempsey, after her dog had to be put to sleep from injuries believed to be caused by sodomy.

Waterbury police have arrested a woman whose beagle was put to sleep earlier this week from injuries that police said appeared to have been caused by sodomy.

Police said Dawn Dempsey, 38, of Royal Oak Drive, brought her dog, Riley, to Mattatuck Animal Hospital on Monday and brought it home the same day, police said.

She told an animal control officer that the female dog appeared to be dead, police said.

The dog was alive, but suffered from severe injuries that appeared to have been caused by sodomy and had to be euthanized the same day, according to police.

Dempsey told the animal control officer that Riley was a stray she found it wondering nearby, police said, but the story neighbours told contradicted that.

They said Dempsey had the dog for several years and she later admitted to owning Riley for at least a year, according to police.

More arrests are expected.

According to police, Dempsey knew of the abuse and did nothing to stop it.

She was arrested on Monday and charged with cruelty to animals. Bond was set at $2,500 and she was released from custodyaccording to court records

Dempsey is due in court on Oct. 31.

Dogs were living in their own faeces – SPCA

Comments Off on Dogs were living in their own faeces – SPCA

“Yet another knob head that needs proper punishment. The SPCA can’t go on holding the hands of these merciless bastards. He knew those poor dogs were living in filth, yet he chose to brush it aside. The poor dogs gave him all the pups they could, they  have nothing left to give now…apart from love…& I pray they all get to feel the sun on their backs, the grass under their feet, & the loving tender arms of someone to share their lives with.”

“This man deserves nothing less than a prison sentence (A PROPER ONE) not a suspended one, really, what’s the bloody point in them?. Get his heartless ass kicked in jail & make him pay for the treatment of every one of those poor dogs that gave their whole lives for him…Let him spend the same amount of time, he forced those little dogs to spend locked up in caged…in prison!!”

Johannesburg – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) confiscated 55 Pomeranians from a backyard breeder in Meyerton, Gauteng, on Monday.

The owner of the house would face charges of animal cruelty and obstruction of justice, said SPCA Vereeniging manager Marlien Pieterse. “So what’s his name…so we can shame the bastard?”

The small dogs were living in their own faeces and urine. Most of them had few or no teeth left due to a poor diet.

The Meyerton police were called in when the owner of the Riversdale home refused to allow the SPCA access to the property.

“The inspectors tried to educate the owner and numerous warnings have been issued in the past. “Sod the warnings, why give these people a second chance to abuse when you know they have already done it! How many times can they abuse until something is done??”

“The owner chose not to comply nor improve the living conditions of the dogs,” Pieterse said. – Sapa
