WAUSAU — A 20-year-old Wausau woman was in Marathon County Jail on Monday on charges that she slit the throat of her boyfriend’s dog after poisoning it with Drano and bleach.

Sean D. Janas appeared in Marathon County Circuit Court and was held in jail on a $2,500 cash bond. She is charged with felony mistreatment of animals, giving poison to an animal and obstructing an officer. She faces more than five years in prison and $30,000 in fines if convicted of all charges.

Marathon County Assistant District Attorney LaMont Jacobson said Janas kept a diary with “disturbing content” in relation to the abuse suffered by the dog, a 4-year-old German shepherdLabrador mix named Mary.

According to the criminal complaint, Janus wrote a number of entries in the diary detailing her ongoing abuse of the dog.

“I need to find a way to kill her without it looking like I killed her,Janus wrote. “ I’ve done lots of things already. I’ve given her drano, bleach and a lot of pain pills lol one night she got all tweaked out because of it, it was so funny.”

In another entry:

I have never hated an animal so much in my life, much less hate one or beat one. But the pleasure I get from watching her whimper in pain and cry out for help as I shove drano and bleach down her throat is like no other,Janus wrote.

According to the criminal complaint, police believe Mary was killed June 4 after suffering months of abuse. A veterinarian told police the dog had been brought to a local clinic on April 11 for treatment after a resident found the animal wandering in the street, bleeding from her head. Mary’s owner reported the animal had been vomiting blood for about a week prior to its death.

Marathon County Circuit Judge Michael Moran ordered Janas to have no contact with animals while the case is pending.

“ I’ve read the criminal complaint, and the diary entries,” Moran said. “If these allegations are correct, they are very disturbing.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Oct. 31.

3 Week Old Puppies Found Abused & Left On Rail-road Tracks – COMMENTS OPEN

Comments Off on 3 Week Old Puppies Found Abused & Left On Rail-road Tracks – COMMENTS OPEN

“OMG…I feel physically sick…this evil MF needs to be found quick…as stated there may be more puppies from this litter…where are they?? Does anyone know if someone in their neighbour hood had a pit bull bitch who was pregnant?? Come on people think??? Until laws change regarding animal abuse; there will always be sick evil people walking amongst us, preying on those without a voice, able to do the unthinkable to animals..then when they don’t get a kick out of hurting animals…they will turn to others…perhaps children...So FXXK this 20 week prison sentence…it does nothing to deter these monsters...LAWS MUST CHANGE!!…PLEASE VOICE YOUR OPINIONS!!

Railroad workers in Albany, NY came across three 3-week-old Pit Bull puppies that appeared to have been intentionally nailed to the tracks.

The puppies were severely dehydrated and malnourished. The railroad workers brought the puppies to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society where the three puppies received veterinary care.

In addition to being dehydrated and malnourished all three puppies had injuries to their back left paws. “One puppy had a hole through her paw, the other one the two middle digits of her rear left were removed, and a third, his entire left paw has been cut off,” The injuries suggest that the puppies were nailed to the railroad track.

Executive Director Brad Shear of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society said. “When this was happening to the first puppy, I’m sure they were just screaming in horrific pain, and then this person did it again, and then they did it a third time. So anyone who would do that is just an incredibly sick person.”

It is obvious that this is an animal cruelty case, as there is no way the wounds suffered by the three puppies happened naturally. Although they are receiving the needed veterinary care, the puppies are not out of the woods. Unfortunately, the smallest of the three puppies passed away on Tuesday. The two surviving puppies likely will need more surgeries. They are expected to make it, but the one puppy will most likely lose his leg.

Shear is not only worried about the two puppies that are still recovering. He is concerned about the puppies ‘mother who only gave birth to them a few weeks ago. Shear also believes that it is very likely there are other puppies from the same litter to be concerned about. It is very rare for a Pit Bull to only have three puppies in a litter, and more likely six or seven puppies were in that litter.

Drifter who skinned cat, wore its tail sentenced to two years in prison

Comments Off on Drifter who skinned cat, wore its tail sentenced to two years in prison

“OMG…praise the lord… hallelujah… a judge who did the right thing…no stupid probation or suspended sentence…an animal abuser ‘Who passed go & went straight to prison’…we need more like him, other states need the same statutes too. This psycho must be mentally or socially disturbed, that or just plain bloody evil; to skin a cat & wear its body parts. I just hope they are able to keep tabs on him when he’s released, if he has no fixed abode, how the cops going to keep up with him? Do you see the empty blackness behind those eye’s, cold, void of any feeling, empathy or sympathy, just inhumane!!”

PHOENIX — An Arizona drifter who skinned a cat and wore its tail and innards around his neck was sentenced to two years in prison on Wednesday.

An Arizona Superior Court judge also sentenced Russell Christopher Hofstad, 25, to four years probation on his release, the Maricopa County Attorney’s office said.

Phoenix Police Dept.
Russell Christopher Hofstad, 25, was sentenced to two years in prison and four years probation over animal cruelty and burglary charges

Hofstad pleaded no contest last month to a felony animal cruelty charge and guilty to a burglary charge.

According to the criminal complaint, police arrested Hofstad in January after he broke into a Phoenix warehouse used as a music venue.

Cops: Man skinned and ate cat, used tail as necklace

Officers found the skinned and gutted remains of a cat inside, and Hofstad wearing the cat’s tail and a piece of its “internals” around his neck on a rope, with his face painted.

Police said he had eaten parts of the cat, while some of its other internal organs were kept in a cooler.

Hofstad told police he had recently been released from jail and had nowhere to live.

He said he had not eaten in a few days, so he hit the cat with a stick and then stabbed it.

He planned to stuff the animal and save the skeleton “for a decoration for a party.”

Man accused of burning, beating dogs

Comments Off on Man accused of burning, beating dogs

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – In a shocking case of animal cruelty a man is accused of burning and beating his dogs so badly one is now dead. See video at link below.

Chaves County sheriff’s deputies said there’s no question in their minds who did it since they found the dog’s owner with a bloody baseball batstill in his hand.

Luis Baltazar

Neighbors said the noise tipped them off that their neighbor, Luis Baltazar, 47, was abusing his dogs, but no one knew just how bad it was until after they called police.

The wounds the dogs received are disturbing.

“It turns my stomach,” said Tammie McKee, Roswell Animal Shelter kennel manager.  “It sends chills through my spine.  It makes my hair stand up

A female pit bull has severe burns across her back, evidence of extreme abuse she and three other dogs endured.

“We woke up to him hitting the fence, and then we walked outside and we heard a dog crying like if something was wrong with him,” said one neighbor, who did not wish to be identified.  “And all of a sudden we just heard him like not bark anymore.”

Neighbors called the Chaves County Sheriff’s Department. When deputies arrived, they found Baltazar armed with a bloody baseball bat and one of his dogs clinging to life.

“We interviewed him to try and determine what was going on, and it appeared he was just mad that the dogs were barking,” recalled sheriff’s Lt. Britt Snyder.  “(That) is what prompted him to go out there and beat this one particular dog just, almost to death with a baseball bat.

Animal Control officers said that dog was beaten so severely they had to put her down.

Another dog Animal Control officers believe to be a shepherd cross has old wounds on its back and head; some appear to be burns. Officers are still trying to figure out what caused them.

The second surviving pit bull had lacerations on his leg.

“No excuses for this whatsoever, none,” McKee said. “Dogs can’t speak, they don’t know any better.

“You train your dogs to do what they’re supposed to do as you would raise a child, you teach them, and it’s just a shame.”

Baltazar’s neighbors said they had no idea how bad it was.

I don’t understand how somebody so cruel can beat a dog, or burn a dog, but why?” the neighbor said.  “What did the dog do to you?  Why take it out on a dog?”

McKee said the three surviving dogs from Baltazar’s property do not bark in their kennels. She said she believes they are afraid to make any noise.

Baltazar is charged with extreme animal cruelty and was released on bond Friday morning.

Animal control officials said a vet will look at the animals and determine exactly what caused the burns. Baltazar was convicted of battery in the past and completed an anger-management course as part of his sentencing.

Police on Luka Magnotta’s Trail For Animal Abuse – Before slaying: landlord

Comments Off on Police on Luka Magnotta’s Trail For Animal Abuse – Before slaying: landlord

“Perhaps if the police had taken note of the thousands of calls, the many emails (including mine), informing them of his sick behaviour with animals…the human tragedy could have been averted.”

MONTREAL – Police were hot on Luka Rocco Magnotta’s trail just weeks before he allegedly killed and dismembered university student Jun Lin, according to a former landlord.

In this photo provided by Montreal Police, Luka Rocco Magnotta is taken by police from a Canadian military plane to a waiting van on Monday, June 18, 2012, in Mirabel, Que.

Canadian law enforcement had tracked the 29-year-old porn actor and stripper to a Montreal apartment building as recently as March, says Magnotta’s former landlord.

He said a police detective phoned asking about Magnotta. But the query came too late — Magnotta had moved out about two weeks earlier.

While they never explained why they were calling, Toronto police have stated that they had already been investigating Magnotta on allegations of animal cruelty for more than a year.

According to the landlord, they nearly found him.

“I think they were on to this guy,” said the superintendent, as he stood in front of the apartment building in the city’s blue-collar Point St. Charles district. He spoke on condition of anonymity.

“To myself, I said, ‘I’m glad he’s out because the cops are looking for him now.’ “

The police phone call came roughly two months before Lin’s death in late May. Magnotta has been charged with first-degree murder in the grisly crime, which has shocked people around the world, and to which he has pleaded not guilty.

His former landlord said he gave up his furnished, second-floor bachelor apartment at the end of February, about two months after moving in. It was an abrupt departure — he only advised the superintendent about a week before he packed up.

Magnotta indicated that he was moving back to Toronto. In fact his next known address, the alleged scene of the killing, was only a few kilometres away in west-end Montreal.

“The police called and I told them he left for Toronto,” said the landlord, who added that the call came from an Ontario police force — he just couldn’t recall which one.
