  • Footage shows dozens of puppies and kittens taken from mothers and killed
  • They can be heard screaming in terror as they are restrained by researchers
  • They are later killed and dissected, before bodies are dumped in bin as waste
  • One employee can be heard saying ‘That’s you done, you can go in our bin’
  • Animals are as young as four-weeks-old – and their mothers are also killed

  • MSD says it did not break any laws and adheres to animal testing regulation

Eating: Some had reportedly been imported into the UK from overseas breeding farms at just a few weeks old – causing them to suffer from ulcers, high temperatures and weight loss. Above, dinner time at the centre.

A horrific video has emerged showing puppies and kittens panicking as they wait to be dissected at an animal testing laboratory.

The footage was filmed as part of an undercover investigation by the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (BUAV) at the government-licensed centre.

It shows the animals – some as young as four-weeks-old – screaming, crying and whimpering as they are taken from their mothers and killed.

The video was taken by an investigator, known as ‘Susie’, who worked at the laboratory for eight months until December last year, according to the Sunday Express.

It shows puppies and kittens shrieking in terror as they are restrained by researchers – just seconds before they are given a lethal injection and cut up for examination.

Meanwhile, a black puppy can be heard screaming and thrashing around as two researchers prepare to take its blood at the centre, which is owned by US pharmaceutrical giant Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD).

And a young canine yelps loudly as a female employee struggles to find a suitable vein in his leg in which to inject him.

Oh dear. What a fuss, what a fuss,’ the woman can be heard saying. ‘Perhaps your leg was a bit sore. Was it from all those bleeds? Oh dear, oh dear.’

The employee eventually administers the lethal dose after trying the puppy’s other leg – before commenting: ‘That’s gotcha.’

Family: Many of the animals are born at the laboratory for the sole purpose of being dissected for examination at just a few weeks old – with their healthy mothers (including this dog, above) often killed just hours later Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2571532/Video-shows-distress-puppies-kittens-waiting-dissected-animal-testing-laboratory.html#ixzz2wSICAorm Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook

She then adds: ‘Put up a bit of a fight, didn’t you, yeah?’ The footage also shows scenes of puppies and kittens lying on operating tables as employees insert needles and cutting equipment into their bodies. In one particularly horrific scene, a researcher lifts a motionless puppy onto a table, saying: ‘Yes, this is where it gets messy. Right, OK. Come on then little fella.

Waiting to die: A staggering 92 puppies, 10 female dogs and at least 15 kittens were killed during the project

‘Let’s make sure you have departed before we start getting our bits and pieces.

‘A staggering 92 puppies, 10 adult female dogs and at least 15 kittens were killed during the investigation at the centre, according to BUAV.

However, the undercover investigator managed to rescue two adult dogs, Bonnie and Billie, and a five-month-old puppy, Oliver, during the project – while two others were rehomed.

Many of the animals are believed to have been born at the laboratory for the sole purpose of being dissected for examination at a young age – with their healthy mothers often killed just hours later.

Others had reportedly been imported into the UK from overseas breeding farms at only a few weeks old – causing them to suffer from ulcers, high temperatures and weight loss.

During the eight-month period, the facility also dissected a number of rabbits and chickens, according to BUAV.

Today, Michelle Thew, chief executive of BUAV, said the union had released the video in a bid to add transparency to the public debate about animal testing.

Action: Home Office minister, Norman Baker (above), is believed to have called for a full report into the laboratory’s activities

‘This is a secret the research industry would never want to be released into the public domain,’ she said.

‘Millions of families throughout the UK who share their homes and lives with cats and dogs will be appalled by these revelations.

‘It is unacceptable, not only that these animals are suffering and dying in this way, but that many of them could have been released into loving homes instead of being killed and discarded for convenience sake.’

She added that thousands of dogs and hundreds of cats are used in research every year in UK, despite widespread concern about their use.

Meanwhile, Home Office minister, Norman Baker, told the Sunday Express his department had carried out ‘a number’ of inspections at the  facility over the past year – but added that he has now called for a full report into the centre’s activities.

MSD told MailOnline that it ‘adheres to all regulatory standards of testing and development of vaccines’.

It added that it is obliged by law to test certain drugs on animals, including vaccines for kennel cough, parvovirus and feline calicivirus.

A spokesman said: ‘Animal well-being is core to our mission. All MSD animal health research is performed by qualified, trained personnel.

‘Our facilities are in full compliance with all laws and regulations, and procedures and facilities are regularly reviewed and inspected by relevant regulatory authorities.’

Viewer Discretion Advised –  Born To Die

Published on 1 Mar 2014

A BUAV investigation has uncovered the shocking use of very young puppies and kittens in experiments in a UK laboratory. The investigation carried out at MSD Animal Health has revealed that the animals were between 4 weeks to 6 months old when they were used in testing and killed. This is a secret the research industry would never want to be released into the public domain.

Marshal County Government, APHIS/USDA: Stop The Torture and Killing of Live Domestic Rabbits Used as Hunting Bait: Petition to Sign

Comments Off on Marshal County Government, APHIS/USDA: Stop The Torture and Killing of Live Domestic Rabbits Used as Hunting Bait: Petition to Sign

“All animals are born innocent, but in the wild they learn from the parents, teaching them how to hunt & catch food to survive; thus is the cycle of life. But for dogs born in captivity, they are born with a strong need to love & be loved; all puppies are adorable little fluff balls who adore human interaction! However, the video below just breaks my heart, the little pups are purely fascinated with this new toy, licking & wagging their wee tails. However, their training will commence & the dogs will turn into killers; taught by the owner they will eventually track, lock on, then kill innocent wildlife; which I find despicable!”

We would like thank the Mississippi Legislature and Governor Phil Bryant for passage of S.B. 2504 in 2012 which extends the state’s prohibition on a cruel and inhumane form of staged animal combat called hog-dog fighting. We ask this same respect and compassion be given to the Tame Domestic Rabbits being used as Live Bait for Dog Hunting Training. We the petitioners would like to file Animal Cruelty Complaints on David Wring of Beagles On Fire for the unnecessary, intentional and barbaric torturing of tame domestic rabbits being used as Live Bait to train his breeding hunting dogs and for selling and recommending tame domestic rabbits to be used as Live hunting training Bait by others when there are ethical alternatives.

Sight Chasing Rabbits With Dee & Maggie Pups 2013

Published on 17 Sep 2013 – davidwring1

Rest Of Petition Text:-

Tame domestic rabbits are seen running for their lives banging off of fences to escape packs of hunting dogs until they are succumbed from sheer exhaustion only to be repeatedly attacked until they can no longer fight back.
Rabbits have small, fragile bones that can be easily injured,/backs broken and being Prey animals stress causes them to go into shock resulting in death. It is our opinion that the rabbits in these videos are clearly being tortured beyond survival.
IS MR. WRING CLEARLY PULLING A DEAD BLACK RABBIT OUT OF THIS VIDEO (TUGGING IT FROM THE DOGS LOCKED JAWS ) AFTER IT POSSIBLY DIED FROM SHOCK WHEN HELPLESSLY & REPEATEDLY ATTACKED, BITTEN, THEN “DRAGGED BY ITS FACE”?
How is this barbaric display of horrific senseless cruelty considered acceptable behaviour? Contact with a domestic rabbit in No Way prepares a hunting dog to catch a speedy wild rabbit. This practice is wanton cruelty, pure and simple and there is no logical or practical reason to subject live domestic rabbits to this unnecessary torture and suffering except for entertainment, ignorance, laziness or profit.David Wring of Beagles On Fire proudly invites you to click on his video’s and watch the “Fun” when packs of 6-10 beagle pups are taught to torture tame domestic rabbits (prey animals) by chasing, forcefully cornering, attacking, biting and piling on top of them causing them extreme distress, harm and fear for their lives. There is no possibility for the rabbits to escape from these wired enclosures, as would be the case “if” they were out in the wild.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rx82ayPEd0Mr. Wring claims to have been raising domestic rabbits for the last 2 years as Live Bait to “Train” his dogs within his inescapable training pen. He has increased his operation to the point that he can now sell rabbits to the public encouraging others to also torture, abuse, injure or cause the death of tame docile domestic rabbits in hunting training.
http://www.beaglesonfire.com/hunter-the-retrieving-beagl/rabbits-for-sale.htmlA domestic animal does NOT exhibit the same hard wired survival instincts that a wild creature does and therefore will not know how to escape from its predator – in this case, packs of hunting dogs. A domestic rabbit’s instincts are watered down due to the genetic manipulation of its gene pool, when you put a live domestic rabbit in the same pen with predators, you have just committed murder. That rabbit has no clue how to defend itself (and it can’t) causing an elevated heart rate, rapid respiration, its adrenaline will go full tilt, and its lactic acid will build rapidly.

A domestic rabbit does not have the natural coat (camouflage) that a wild animal has, and therefore teaching a beagle to hunt a domestic animal most certainly does not encourage its hard wired instincts.

The Beagle is a scent hound with a natural hunting instinct and it is his genetic make-up to hunt. These hard wired instincts carry from generation to generation and therefore teaching a Beagle to hunt and chase domestic rabbits by scent is not necessary or useful because the domesticated rabbit is a descendant of the European Rabbit and does not share the same scent as our wild rabbits.

Ethical Alternatives in Lure coursing are honored and used by Beagles Unlimited and the American Kennel Club that do not involve the torture of sentient, intelligent creatures. The artificial lure is made to look like a live animal where the lure is dragged across the ground at a high rate of speed, with a set number or turns and changes in direction to simulate the movements of a live animal or “game.”

CRUELTY TO ANIMALSDOG TRAINING—

The use of a Live Rabbits in the training of greyhound racing dogs has been outlawed in most States because such action causes the animal to be tortured and tormented, causing unnecessary pain, suffering and death. It has even been outlawed to kill and use dead rabbits.
Torturing of an animal for the purpose of training hunting dogs would also appear to be needless knowing there are ethical alternatives and therefore making it a crime for any person to come within the scope of the statutes prohibiting cruelty to “animals.”

§ 2156 – Animal fighting venture:- Prohibition

In this section – (1) the term “animal fighting venture” means any event, in or affecting interstate or foreign commerce, that involves a fight conducted or to be conducted between at least 2 animals for purposes of sport, wagering, or entertainment, except that the term “animal fighting venture” shall not be deemed to include any activity the primary purpose of which involves the use of one or more animals in hunting another.

The following section constitutes Mississippi’s anti-cruelty and animal fighting provisions, which were recently amended in 2011. The pertinent anti-cruelty law, § 97-41-1, states that any person who intentionally or with criminal negligence overrides, overdrives, overloads, tortures, torments, unjustifiably injures, deprives of necessary sustenance, food, or drink, cruelly beats, or needlessly mutilates any living creature, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

§ 97-41-1. Cruelty to living creatures

Except as otherwise provided in Section 97-41-16 for a dog or cat, if any person shall intentionally or with criminal negligence override, overdrive, overload, torture, torment, unjustifiably injure, deprive of necessary sustenance, food, or drink; or cruelly beat or needlessly mutilate; or cause or procure to be overridden, overdriven, overloaded, tortured, unjustifiably injured, tormented, or deprived of necessary sustenance, food or drink; or to be cruelly beaten or needlessly mutilated or killed, any living creature, every such offender shall, for every offense, be guilty of a misdemeanor.

§ 97-41-2. Seizure of mistreated animal

(1) All courts in the State of Mississippi may order the seizure of an animal by a law enforcement agency, for its care and protection upon a finding of probable cause to believe said animal is being cruelly treated, neglected or abandoned.

The Animal Welfare Act was signed into law in 1966. It is the only Federal law in the United States that regulates the treatment of animals in research, exhibition, transport, and by dealers. The event of hunting training is conducted by a Dealer of hunting dogs, considered a sport which involves the use of one or more animals hunting another and the rabbits are being used as Live Bait which directly relates to Animal fighting venture prohibition.

We the petitioners request the USDA and Marshall County, Mississippi to investigate proper licensing regarding Beagles on Fire i.e. Dealers license, License to sell animals online and Business License.

According to David Wring’s Website; his dogs are sold for $600 each and can be bought on the Internet, he also sells domestic rabbits.
Credit Card Purchases: http://www.beaglesonfire.com/credit-card-purchases.html

Code of Federal Regulations Nov 6, 2013, Part 2, Subpart A – Licensing / 2.1 state that dealers selling over $500.00 with more than 4 breeding does requires licensing.

Subpart A (c) (e) states failure of any person to comply with any provision of the Act, or any of the provisions of the regulations or standards in this sub-chapter, shall constitute grounds for denial of a license; or for its suspension or revocation by the Secretary, as provided in the Act

If the breeder has more than three breeding bitches and is selling the litters wholesale, he must be licensed under the Animal Welfare Act and must be in compliance with standards specified under the Animal Welfare Act.

What happens when a rabbit is picked up by the scruff?
Their skin is made up of three layers, the epidermis, the dermis and the subcutaneous. Just as in our human skin, rabbits’ skin is plentifully supplied with nerves, which allow them to feel your touch; temperature; and pain. The subcutaneous layer consists of fat, connective tissue, blood vessels and nerves. This layer helps hold the skin to the muscle tissue. When you lift a rabbit by the scruff the skin is torn loose from the muscle tissue.

VERY IMPORTANT

ABOUT THIS PETITION:

AstraZeneca plc is a British-Swedish multinational pharmaceutical and biologics company headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It is the world’s fifth-largest pharmaceutical company measured by 2009 prescription drug sales (after Pfizer, Novartis, Sanofi, and GlaxoSmithKline) and has operations in over 100 countries, including research facilities in Södertälje, Sweden.

Like every pharmaceutical company, AstraZeneca conducts experiments on animals. According to AstraZeneca’s own website, in 2011 AstraZeneca has used approximately 398,000 animals, including those used by external contract research organisations on their behalf. Approximately 76% (302,480) were rodents, 22% (87,560) were fish and the remaining 2% (7,960) included chickens, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, primates, pigs, goats and sheep. In 2010, AstraZeneca “used” 429,000 animals and in 2009, 410,000 animals were “used” for the purpose of testings and experiments.

In February 2012, Swedish newspapers announced that Anglo-Swedish pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca is closing its research facilities in Södertälje, south of Stockholm, as part of a major restructuring, resulting in the loss of around 1,000 Swedish jobs. Over the past two years, the big pharmaceutical giant divested much of its operations in Sweden and this has also affected their laboratory facilities and experimental animal activities.

Since then, the future of the Beagles that are currently still being held in their kennels outside Örkelljunga, is uncertain given that the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has consistently refused to give the dogs a chance of a new life, by releasing them into the care of skilled and engaged people who have offered to adopt them.

By signing our petition, the message that you can read below, will instantly be sent to the decision makers at AstraZeneca.

Subject: Please set the Beagles free!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have learned from the Swedish organisation Animal Rights Alliance, through their campaign “Låt Astrahundarna leva!” that the future of the experimental dogs that are currently still being held in your kennel in Rååhöjdens, outside Örkelljunga, is uncertain, given that you have consistently refused to give the dogs a chance of a new life by releasing them into the care of skilled and engaged people who have offered to adopt them.

We have also learned that – after reconsideration – you have scrapped your plans to kill these unfortunate dogs who were born into a life of over stimulation, abuse and exploitation, and that you intend to sell them to painful animal experiments in the UK instead.

We beg you to give these dogs THE chance of their life. Please set them free and give them in the care of the good people who have offered to adopt them so that they can experience the joy of having a loving family – something they have been deprived of their entire life.

Although unwillingly, these poor unfortunate souls have served you loyally until now. Please have mercy on them and set them free. They have suffered enough in your laboratories at the hands of your scientists; please let them live out the rest of their lives in peace, surrounded by the love of the caring families that await them.

The world is watching and is following your company’s decision in this matter. Please make the humane choice and show the world that you are capable of compassion, too.

We thank very much you in advance and we wish you, your loved ones, and the entire staff at AstraZeneca a very happy New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Arrest Over Second Seizure Of Pups

Comments Off on Arrest Over Second Seizure Of Pups

A 46-year-old man has been arrested at Dublin Port after the search of a van led to the discovery of 56 puppies.

Image from Sky News

This is the second foiled attempt this week to traffic a large number of puppies bred in illegal Irish puppy farms to the UK.

The dogs have been cared for by the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) since their discovery on Thursday.

The animal welfare organisation said this brought the total number of pups seized to 92 in just three days.

The latest discovery includes mainly small breeds, aged between six and 10 weeks.

Gardaí have since released the suspect, pending further enquiries.DSCPA chief executive Brian Gillen is warning people buying a puppy to be vigilant against trafficking.

This second seizure in a week has to make people aware of the problems of buying from an unreliable source.“Do not buy from the boot of a car or a van and always arrange to meet the puppy with its parents at the breeders home – the conditions the mother is living in is a good indication of the health and welfare of the animals.”

On Tuesday afternoon, gardaí uncovered 36 animals in two cars in the Coolock area of Dublin.

Twenty-five Jack Russells and a number of other breeds including Cocker and Springer Spaniels, Terriers, Beagles and Labradors were found inside boxes in the back of the vehicles, which were stopped on the Old Malahide Road

Two men arrested in connection with animal cruelty were subsequently released

Suspects charged in animal cruelty case

Comments Off on Suspects charged in animal cruelty case

Leavenworth, Kan. — The two men who were arrested over the weekend in Leavenworth after a wounded dog was found in a garbage bag have been formally charged, a prosecutor said.

Joshua Elliott, 24, and Gerald Halstead, 23, each face a felony count of cruelty to animals, according to County AttorneyTodd Thompson.

Joshua Elliott

Gerald Halstead,

Thompson said the men appeared Monday in Leavenworth County District Court and may be back in court Wednesday.

The two men were arrested Sunday in the 1500 block of Choctaw Street.

Police were called to the area after someone was seen carrying a garbage bag into the woods, which witnesses thought was suspicious, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.

At the scene, police found the garbage bag. Inside was a small beagle. Kitchens said the animal was severely wounded and bleeding.

Because of its injuries, the dog was put down.

One of the suspects reportedly told police the dog had been shot accidentally at a residence in the area after there had been heavy drinking. Kitchens said the dog appeared to have suffered other injuries.

“It was very clear the dog had suffered a number of serious mortal wounds,” Kitchens said.

He said there was at least one witness who reported previously seeing the dog being abused.

Leavenworth Animal Control removed three other dogs from the residence.

Police Lt. Kevin Crim said he is not aware of any injuries to these dogs.

Pooch Found In Trash Bag Adopted

Comments Off on Pooch Found In Trash Bag Adopted

“It was a classic tale of love at first sight Thursday as a Livonia woman finally got to meet her newly adopted pet at the Michigan Humane Society in Detroit.

The Michigan Humane Society is currently caring for Gladys, a 2-year-old female Beagle who was dumped in a trash bag on the east side of Detroit. Anyone with information is asked to please call (313) 872-3401. There is a $2,500 reward and your anonymity will be respected

As Stephanie Elliott, 27, hugged Gladys, the recently abandoned beagle whose sad story touched the hearts of many, she vowed to provide her with a good home and lots of tender loving care.

The 2-year-old beagle was discovered in a sealed trash bag in an industrial area on Detroit’s east side earlier this month. More than 100 people offered to adopt her. She has been recuperating at the Humane Society.” – freep

Authorities believe the pooch had been abandoned for several days, and she may have suffered physical abuse because the poor thing was in severe pain when the Humane Society picked her up.

It’s takes as much time and energy to drop an unwanted animal at an animal shelter, as it does to drive to an industrial area and dump it in a garbage bag.

There is simply no excuse or rational explanation for animal cruelty; I hope someone will respond to the $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for abandoning the beagle, named Gladys.

I’ve adopted two dogs from the Humane Society, and they have provided me with years of love and companionship. One of my mutts has passed away, and I wouldn’t sell the other one for a million bucks. The monster who threw away Gladys like so much garbage, doesn’t realize that he threw away the kind of love and loyalty that you can’t buy with all the money in the world.

This is a story with a happy ending, Stephanie Elliott who adopted Gladys has a lot of experience raising dogs, and she has already fallen in love with the pooch.

There are many puppies and adult dogs in animal shelters, and they are also waiting for a happy ending. Visit an animal shelter today, and adopt a pooch who will provide you with years of entertainment, love, loyalty and companionship.
