“I really don’t understand some people, one would have to have a heart made of stone, to put that little face in a bag & toss it out with the trash! Imagine how horrific it would have been, had the guy not seen the bag move! I’m just praying justice is served now; as the bitch that did this, along with possibly more, needs to pay dearly!”
Michael Upchurch used to not think too much about what was in the bags of trash he dumped everyday as a garbage man.
Then last week he saw something moving in one of the bags. Upchurch stopped the truck from crushing the bag and saved a 6-week-old puppy.
Last Wednesday Upchurch was working collecting garbage in Muncie, Indianawhen he and his coworker, who was also riding on the back of the truck, heard whimpering. They both thought the noise was coming from each other, and then Upchurch spotted something. “Out of the corner of my eye in the bag, it was a blue recycle bag by the way, I seen his head moving. I said ‘Stop the truck,’” Upchurch recalled. “It was a terrible sound. This ole’ doggy here hollering. ‘Save me.’ I guess in doggy talk.”
Upchurch pulled the puppy out. The puppy looked frozen so Upchurch did what he could to warm him up, taking him into the truck and blasting the heat. “I turned on the heat right here with the heat on full blast,” said Upchurch. The puppy was then rushed to the Westview Animal Clinic for emergency care. The puppy has made a speedy recovery and is now at home with his rescuer and new owner Upchurch.
Upchurch has given the puppy the name Garby. “I knew I had to adopt him,” said Upchurch. He and his wife had been discussing getting a new puppy for a while and are thrilled to have Garby safe at home with them. “It’s been great. I’m just happy that (Garby) is safe and alive and we’re going to treat him really well,” said Upchurch’s wife Shelley.
Upchurch’s sister is also happy for her brother and Garby. She is the director of Muncie’s Animal Rescue Fund and is not surprised at all by her brother’s actions. “I was not surprised because my brother, he’s a great guy, and that’s just the kind of guy that he is,” she said.
The woman responsible for throwing Garby away is being investigated by the city’s Criminal Investigations Division. She allegedly admitted to previously throwing away two or three other puppies. “I hope she is haunted by a million pairs of puppy eyes staring at her, each time she try’s to sleep…the heartless bitch!”
She told the director of the Muncie Animal Shelter, Phil Peckinpaugh, that she thought the puppy was suffering from PARVO and had died when she put it in the trash. Peckinpaugh says she has been cited withanimal neglect and animal cruelty. “You would have to be pretty dense to not notice if an animal was breathing or not, it’s not hard, this is just more of a typical excuse, I hope she gets the full force of the law thrown at her!”
After this experience Upchurch is concerned about what might be in other trash bags. He hopes people learn from this, “I kinda hope this will make people think a second before they do this ’cause there’s so much help out there.”
PLEASE PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS ON FACEBOOK & TWITTER – LET’S FIND THE BASTARD WHO DID THIS….PLEASE CONTACT THE POLICE IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS DOG. IF ANYONE CAN SPARE $2 DOLLARS TO HELP PAY HIS VET’S BILLS, IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. If you can’t, don’t worry, your prayers are just as valuable!!Thank you
“WTF…WHY, why would anyone do such a thing? Dear God, I am shaking with rage whilst tears run down my face both in sadness & anger. Such a beautiful dog…who ever did this needs a taste of his own medicine…sick, heartless, cold, evil FXXXXXG BASTARDS!! Watch the video below, look into Bucks face & eyes, imagine how much pain he must be in; yet he all he wants is a cuddle!!.
Buck, shot several times, tied up in a bag & left for dead!!
Someone shot the dog several times in the face with a shotgun, tied it up in a garbage bag and left it for dead.
Someone spotted the trash bag moving on Bulldog Lane in Conroe Saturday morning. They ripped it open and the bloody dog stumbled out and collapsed.
Tami Augustyn took the dog to an emergency clinic where veterinarians discovered buckshot lodged in both eyes, his mouth, gums, shoulders and neck.
They’re calling the mixed breed dog Buck and say he’s making a remarkable recovery.
Vets say Buck’s prognosis is good, but the injuries to his eyes may cause permanent blindness.
This isn’t the first time Augustyn has rescued a dog in trouble.
“Dogs love unconditionally. You’ll never find anyone or anything that loves you like a dog. Why would you injure something like that? I don’t understand,” she told Montgomery County Police Reporter Scott Engle.
Augustyn said Buck’s medical bills will likely top $5,000 and she’s trying to raise money to help pay for them.
A Facebook page has been set up for donations and to follow Buck’s progress.
010613 DOG SHOT , TIED IN TRASH BAG TIED TO FENCE LEFT FOR DEAD
Published on 6 Jan 2013
Story shortly, a dog is found in the Conroe area in a trash bag tied to a fence and shot. Left for dead in near freezing temperatures.
A dog has been found sealed up in a contractor’s garbage bag after being shot with a shotgun in the face and left to die.
A good Samaritan, Tami Augustyn, was notified by a friend that a dog had been tied up in a garbage bag and left to die along Bulldog Lane in Conroe, Texas. Tami immediately picked up the severely wounded dog and took him to Animal Emergency Clinic in Conroe, Texas where the dog is being evaluated and stabilized until they close on Monday, January 7th at 8am in which he will be transported to another vet. Under initial evaluation, the dog has been shot in the face, including in both eyes and inside his mouth, with birdshot fragments. This has left the dog either temporarily or permanently blind and will require a specialist to evaluate his eyes. The dog also needs x-rays of his hind legs to determine why he can’t walk.
The dog is affectionately being referred to as “Buck” after Buckshot. A Facebook page “Buck Needs Bucks for his Buckshot Injuries” has been created to follow his prognosis and documenting pictures of his wounds and medical bills. https://www.facebook.com/Buckneedsbucks(Lots of updates here)
Medical costs are increasing rapidly to save this dog (currently estimated at over $3,000) and Tami is asking people to donate by either call Animal Emergency Clinic at 936.539.3800 or via Paypal to TamiAugustyn@hotmail.com.
“WTF…there are some vile, sinister, evil, cold hearted, animal abusing, psycho’s that live amongst us. I’m all cried out, the poor wee thing looks like his whole life has been lived in hell; judging by how timid he is. Somebody purposely broke his bones, by blunt force trauma, then tossed him in a carrier bag, tied it up & threw it out with the trash!! No normal rational, sane person would do such a thing; these people are dangerous.”
“I don’t need to remind you that the worlds most savage brutal killers started off their sick lives by killing animals; these abominations need to be plucked out of normal society & dealt with properly. Stop with the stupid suspended sentences, they are as much use as chocolate fire guards! Prison is too good for most abusers. They should all be put on a desert island, surrounded by sharks, thousands of miles away, far from where decent human beings live!.”
“Somebody must recognise that sad little face, a very timid scared dog…PLEASE I BEG YOU…if any of you know who’s it is or who it belonged to, anything that might lead the police to the monster that did this, please contact them. Imagine if it were your dog, how you would feel?? I may well of got the story wrong, he could be some dear old lady’s lap dog, snatched from it’s own front yard. Don’t feel pressured into protecting the person who did this…if you are, then you are no better than them. Forget them saying they would protect you, if you were in a pickle, bollocks, they would either run a mile or dob you in if it meant saving themselves…So do yourself a favour, rid them from your friendship circle & tell the police!!
” Guys, our collective prayers are needed for this little guy, he has got a lot of mending to do, especially in his heart. I hope all works out well & he ends up being somebody’s little lap dog or the baby of the family!!”
On Tuesday evening, along a Louisville, Ky. roadside, a small dog was found inside of a sealed, plastic bag; thrown away like unwanted trash.

Amazingly, the little dog, not weighing even four pounds, was still alive, albeit injured and sickly. “That’s not much more than my chihuahua weighs, just to give you an idea of how small & fragile he is”
According to the Shamrock Foundation, the dog, now known as “Karma,” has multiple broken bones, was covered in fleas and, is understandably, terrified.

On Wednesday, the rescue organization shared the following update with their Facebook fans:
So this boy suffered criminal neglect before being tied up in a sealedtrash bag and ended up on the side of the road. The fractures are fresh and are from a blunt force trauma – like being dropped or thrown down on concrete. He will be under observation today at Blue Pearl.
Karma is too weak to undergo surgery at this time, and he is on strict crate rest.
Kate Baumgartner, 22, was walking to church inGlen Carbon, IL, on Sunday when she heard a noise coming from a dumpster. She decided to investigate the barking noise, climbing into the dumpster in her Sunday’s best. Inside, Kate found an 8-week-old puppy inside a trash bag.
“I did cry,” said Kate, a student at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. “I didn’t know what I was in for when I got in a dumpster, and there was a living animal, but I was in for a surprise!”
Her mother’s neighbour is a veterinarian, so Kate took the puppy for a short check up on Sunday morning. “I made it to the vet but didn’t make it to church,” Kate said.
Kate believes the puppy is a Shepherd-Boxer mix and plans to take her in for a full veterinarian check up and shots, but from the puppy’s first assessment by the neighbour more medical care may be required. The neighbour suspects that the puppy has bruised ribs and a tail that has been broken at least once.
Regardless of what condition the puppy is in, Kate is ready to provide whatever care the puppy, named Layla, may need.
“I would suggest if anyone know’s of a litter looking similar to the above, or know’s of someone else having one, to inform police! Some BxxxxxD put the puppy in a trash bag alive, after hurting it, then without a care tossed it out with the trash! They must be found & punished, doesn’t take a massive effort; if everybody just thinks about whether they have seen others like the puppy above!
The address the pups came from may be the same. Either the owner dumped it as a runt, or after it was injured or someone else purchased it, then realised they didn’t want it so tossed it out. It’s the address of where those puppies came from, that may give police a link as to who so carelessly hurt the wee thing then threw it out with the trash!!”
“I can’t believe it doesn’t say to contact local police in the article!!!”
“September 19th 2012 – I don’t believe in counter violence to settle old scores etc. But boy oh boy, what I wouldn’t give to spend 5 minutes alone with those that did this along; with half my followers! I just can’t imagine those that did it, blending in with a normal family life…they are EVIL; therefore should stick out like a bloody sore thumb! What is the world coming to when your own dog isn’t safe within your yard? These MF‘s must drive around looking for possible dogs, the gentle ones that will come a running with tail wagging…breaks my bloody heart to think of it! R.I.P Ridge, finally no more pain, just lots of lovely juicy bones & fields to run around; with all the other special ones that crossed Rainbow’s Bridge x”
“Please if you have any information which might help this case, no matter how small or insignificant. please contact the police; no other dog should have to die this way!”
A dog located within the confines of his own family‘s fenced yard should be safe. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.
A microchip embedded in the young dog’s body allowed the authorities to determine who that family was, and piece together what had happened prior to Ridge’s untimely death.
Until the day that he was stolen, Ridge was a beloved friend and playmate to his family’s two young children, ages 4 and 5.
But unscrupulous people stole Ridgefrom his gated, fenced yard and abused him until the day that he was dead and thrown away.
stolen as he played in a locked and gated back yard, used as bait, starved, neglected, abused, burned and tossed out of a moving car window
Along with the heart-wrenching description of the torture that Ridge was subjected to, is a dire warning to pet owners, “Protect Your Pets! Pet Theft is again on the rise.”
Dog fighters, searching for so-called “bait dogs,” do not follow rules. They do not respect boundaries, and last, but certainly not least, they do not care.
Protect your pets, help spare them from being tortured and killed like Ridge.
According to the NJSPCA, an investigation is underway into this innocent dog’s horrific death.
“Who in their right mind would do such a stupid & gruesome stunt? It’s sick, just because the animal was probably dead when it was taped is irrelevant. Whoever did it, wanted people to be shocked by the site…who know’s what else they will do. So if you know who did this, please ring the number below! Wonder if it would be different if it were a puppy hanging there instead?”
GUELPH— The Guelph Police are treating the case of a raccoon being taped to a city traffic light post as an animal cruelty investigation.
Raccoon case Brooke Dumouchelle, an animal control officer with the Guelph Humane Society, pulls off the tape holding up a dead raccoon to a stop-light pole at Watson and York roads on Tuesday morning. Police and Dumouchelle have no idea who taped the raccoon to the pole, or why.
The Guelph Police and Guelph Humane Society responded Tuesday to a case of a raccoon being taped to a traffic light post on the city’s east side, at the intersection of Watson Road South and York Road.
A humane society officer removed the dead animal at about 9:30 a.m. It was taken away in a black garbage bag.
“At this point, we’re not suspecting foul play,” said Deb Gray, operations manager of the Guelph Humane Society. She said the animal was likely dead before being put up on the post. These animals will put up a fight and the taping job is too clean for it to have been done while the animal was still alive, she said.
Gray estimates the animal is around five months old and does not show obvious signs as to how it died. It could have been struck by a car, she said.
“It might have been some strange little prank.”
No note or any explanation seemed to have been left with the animal. Some people who noticed the sight at first thought it was a toy stuffed animal. The raccoon was bloodied and surrounded by flies when it was removed.
The animal was taped up, with clear packing tape, more than one metre off the ground. It was bound so that its underside was against the post. Passing motorists and area business peoplealerted authorities to the grisly scene.
Guelph Police communications officer Const. Mike Gattosaid the case began as an animal cruelty investigation, but there is not likely to be criminal charges laid if the animal was dead when it was taped to the post.
“At this point, it is believed that the animal was not hurt intentionally in any way,” he said. “However, obviously, we would like to speak to the people who decided to attach this dead animal to the pole.”
Police are asking anyone with information regarding this case to call Const. Brent Estabrooks at (519) 824-1212 ext. 7259, or to leave an anonymous tip withCrime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Leavenworth, Kan. — The two men who were arrested over the weekend in Leavenworth after a wounded dog was found in a garbage bag have been formally charged, a prosecutor said.
Joshua Elliott, 24, and Gerald Halstead, 23, each face a felony count of cruelty to animals, according to County AttorneyTodd Thompson.
Joshua Elliott
Gerald Halstead,
Thompson said the men appeared Monday in Leavenworth County District Court and may be back in court Wednesday.
The two men were arrested Sunday in the 1500 block of Choctaw Street.
Police were called to the area after someone was seen carrying a garbage bag into the woods, which witnesses thought was suspicious, according to Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens.
At the scene, police found the garbage bag. Inside was a small beagle. Kitchens said the animal was severely wounded and bleeding.
Because of its injuries, the dog was put down.
One of the suspects reportedly told police the dog had been shot accidentally at a residence in the area after there had been heavy drinking. Kitchens said the dog appeared to have suffered other injuries.
“It was very clear the dog had suffered a number of serious mortal wounds,” Kitchens said.
He said there was at least one witness who reported previously seeing the dog being abused.
Leavenworth Animal Control removed three other dogs from the residence.
Police Lt. Kevin Crim said he is not aware of any injuries to these dogs.
Spokane County animal protection offers are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a horrendous case of animal cruelty.
A cat had to be euthanized on Monday after SCRAPS officers found it shot in the head in a dumpster at the Viewpoint Villa Apartments, 5911 E. Woodlawn Ave., in Spokane Valley.
A woman had reported a cat screaming from the dumpster, and the apartment manager found the bleeding, injured feline inside a garbage bag wrapped in a blanket.
The cat was taken to a veterinarian and euthanized. Investigators say the cat also sustained traumatic injuries to its body.
Anyone who may have seen or heard something is asked to call (509) 477-2532 immediately. Your name and contact information will remain confidential with SCRAPS.
“To think, a living, breathing, intelligent mammal, who gives birth to live young, & produces milk to feed them, nurtures them, keeps them from harm etc. could then do such a crude & heartless act in such a brutal & uncivilized way! Yes, I’m talking about the bloody human who did this, animals are far more humane than we are!!!”
The Montgomery County Resource Center investigates more than 1200 cases of dog cruelty every year. Now, a West Carollton woman is calling on the animal shelter for help.
Dumped in the trash bin!
“It does disgust me. I cried. It was really heartbreaking.,” said Chelsea Adkins.
She and her husband tossed out their trash Sunday evening at their apartment complex on Wendy Way, when they heard a noise coming from inside atrash bag in the dumpster. When they opened it, they found a tinypuppy inside.
“We took the trash bag out and went through it. She was on the bottom, covered with food, beer bottles, and some of their mail,” said Chelsea.
She’s shocked someone could be so cruel.
“People are evil. I don’t know how anybody could do that, especially to a baby, a newborn. She can’t even see yet,” Chelsea said.
Chelsea said she took the puppy to three different vets and they all say she’s healthy. She plans to give the puppy a good home, “We’re in love with her. We can’t get rid of her, especially after taking care of her.”
But, she still wants the person responsible for throwing this puppy away to pay.
“I’m just hoping that they get caught. I don’t want them to do it again and somebody just not notice it and a puppy just lay in there and die,” said Chelsea.
She contacted The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center Wednesday night. Investigators are expected to come out to her apartment Thursday.

Simmons threw a dog out of the house, breaking its leg, according to the report. Simmons’ girlfriend got angry and broke her car window, and Simmons grabbed her and hit her several times, police said.
Simmons later killed the dog’s six 2-day-old puppies, according to the report. The carcasses were found in a trash bag in the kitchen, police said.
