“WTF…ABSOLUTELY SICKENED…I was in two minds whether to post this because of the graphic content & the reaction it will raise; but we have to speak up for those who cannot! The depth of my hatred and disgust for the human race gets worse every single day. I cannot comprehend the pain & suffering this poor dog went through at the hands of a human being; nigh monster!! The sick minded POS that abused Laura, is not fit enough to scrape shit off shoes with his/her tongue; never mind breathe the same air as normal beings! I hope whoever did this is found & quickly, they need to pay big time! Evil generally seeks its own benefit at the expense of others and is based on general malevolence!! Whoever did this I hope they suffer a life of pain & abuse; it’s nothing less than they deserve!! PLEASE if anyone recognizes this dog, or knows who it belongs to, please contact your local police or http://www.lasthopek9.org or https://www.facebook.com/LoveForLaura

“Kudos to those taking care of Laura; I know they are doing everything possible to return Laura to good health…please see Laura’s Facebook page for updates etc!”

Laura was scheduled to die at the Brooklyn Animal Control Center in NYC. A fate that so many face, but to think that Laura almost didn’t make it out of there is unfathomable.

Volunteers reached out to Last Hope K9 Rescue in Boston, Massachussetts to intervene and they immediately took actionhttp://www.lasthopek9.org/donate/

At the vets, Last Hope K9 Rescue learned that Laura had human bite marks on several areas of her body. She presented with redness and swelling around her eyes, wounds on her front and hind legs and mouth.

While these wounds are horrific enough, the depth of Laura’s abuse was much deeper. What was initially thought to be a mammary tumor and prolapsed uterus ended up being a sexually transmitted disease.

During her examination (by a male vet), Laura tucked her head in behind his neck and let out a loud sigh as he examined her backside. The doctor said it was like she was almost embarrassed. Despite the pain she must have been in, Laura never snapped or acted out, she just patiently sat there. To imagine that she endured this abuse for an extended period of time is no consolation.

Even with this level of repeated, unimaginable abuse, Laura is forgiving. She wants nothing more than the love and acceptance of people, despite the injustices bestowed upon her for who knows how long. Laura’s recovery and treatment will take at least 6 month.

In the shelter, Laura’s abuse was evident, but it wasn’t until she was examined by our vet that we truly came to understand all that Laura has endured. For Laura to be as loving and trusting as she is with humans, speaks volumes to the kind of dog she is.

She is currently in treatment for her conditions and her emotional healing has begun in her foster home. Laura has touched the lives of so many just by being her sweet-natured self. She deserves the very best and now she will get it.:-https://www.facebook.com/LoveForLaura

Unbelievable and disgusting case of animal abuse: Dog RAPED by humans and left for dead

LAURA WAS RAPED & ABUSED! Here is her story. Please consider to contribute to her fundraiser Lisa Anne Bakal wrote: “Horror upon horrors happen daily to these innocent dogs. Laura was another stray pit bull who entered the Brooklyn shelter.

They thought the growth on her was mammary tumors. When she hit the kill list, a good friend of mine who is a volunteer did all she could to get Laura’s life saved. She was one of those dogs who just “get you”. Last Hope K9 Rescue stepped in and saved her at the 11th hour.

Once they got her to their vet, the real horror was discovered. She put her head down and sighed as the “male” vet went behind her to examine her. It turns out those “tumors” weren’t tumors at all. She was repeatedly RAPED by a HUMAN and she has a sexually transmitted disease. She has HUMAN bite marks all over her little body.

She will need 6 months of heavy medical treatment to rid her of the STD she contracted from this filthy parasite who raped her. My eyes will never be dry, the tears are never-ending. Please follow her page on FB “Love for Laura” and the wonderful Last Hope K9 Rescue for updates.

Donations for her costly treatment can be made here: DONATE TOWARD HER SURGERY HERE:  PLEASE say a prayer for this innocent animal and if you can donate it will help tremendously. More information on Laura’s fundraiser here: Read more of this heartbreaking story here:

John is certainly progressing. He is eating and standing on his own. He has even taken a few steps. Still a long road to go, but John is a fighter. Thanks to the efforts of Pet Haven Animal Hospital Staff and the SCAR CREW, John is in good hands. For more info about SEAN CASEY ANIMAL RESCUE and the Documentary Film “RESCUE! Update on John – not out of the woods, but battling for life and making progress

Comments Off on Update on John – not out of the woods, but battling for life and making progress

“This poor dog actually had human owners, he must have done, dogs don’t put their own collars on…can you believe that? How anyone could sleep at night, knowing that they tossed a member of their family out with the trash, to fend for his self, it’s beyond my thought capabilities as a caring human.  Johns owners didn’t give a sxxt about him obviously; I wouldn’t pxxs on them if they were on fire! What a shame the police can’t get DNA from the collar he was wearing! Bless him, he didn’t even have the strength to stand whilst his pitifully thin body, was washed to rid him of the caked on faeces etc.”

John is fighting for his life

John was found on Thursday, August 30, laying behind a parked car on a New York street. He was emaciated and at death’s door when he was brought to Brooklyn ACC.

I spoke with Sean Casey on Friday. He described this 18-month-old pit bull, who weighed only 18 pounds – instead of a normal weight of 60 pounds for a dog his size – as being so lifeless that euthanasia was initially considered to end his suffering.

Unable to move except to blink, he managed to wag his tail which was taken as a sign that he was ready to fight. And this man and his rescue made the decision to stand beside him, and give him the chance to do just that.

He had his first bath to remove all the faeces caked on his entire body. He looks and probably feels much better. What a difference a day made for a dog so emaciated, dehydrated, and close to death. To see him starting to rebound might bring you to tears.

This morning I spoke with Dr. Jill Caruso, who has been treating John. She said it was heartbreaking for everyone to see him when he was brought in, but that he is doing “fantastic” today considering his condition. He weighs 21 pounds now, and is eating small portions of food every 1 1/2 hours. She attributes the weight gain to that and being hydrated. He is on IV fluids, vitamins, dewormers, and his fecal samples came back showing no parasites. His blood work showed that he had a slightly low white blood cell count, but they are amazed that he suffered no organ failure.

She mentioned that along with the gash on his neck, which she states could be from his collar rubbing, he has some bruising and puncture wounds on his legs and body, possibly from another dog. These are just being treated since he would not be able to undergo anesthesia at this time.

He attempted to lift his head but he is still too weak, but his ears perk up when he is spoken to by the compassionate people who surround him. Because he is not blinking as he should, they are applying an eye lubricant for dryness.

John will receive love, kindness, and the best of care from Doctor Caruso and staff at Pet Haven Animal Hospital, who often come in on their own time to be with him. She says he is not out of the woods yet, and has a long road to recovery, but they are hopeful and very happy with his progress thus far. She shared a picture of him that she had just taken for your enjoyment.

John is not micro-chipped so unfortunately, we may never know who did this to him or how he came to be in this horrendous condition.

Continued prayers and positive thoughts are still needed for John as he battles his way back to good health. Here is the link to his chip-in if you would like to donate.

We will continue to report on his progress, and will be thrilled to share the news when he is strong enough to go into foster care and his forever home.

Thank you to Sean Casey and Dr. Caruso for taking the time to speak with me, providing us with this update to share with our readers, and for not giving up on John. We know he is in good hands and stands a chance thanks to you.

Positive thoughts needed for John in NY as he fights for life

Comments Off on Positive thoughts needed for John in NY as he fights for life

John is fighting to stay alive. Credit: Sean Casey Animal Rescue Facebook page

Viewing pictures of dogs allowed to deteriorate to this condition not only breaks your heart, but overwhelms you with sadness and anger.

John was found lying behind a parked car in the streets of NY.

He was extremely emaciated, dehydrated, and his entire body was covered in dried feces.

This did not happen overnight. This poor boy was denied the basics for survival for quite some time.

How or why he ended up in such horrendous condition is unknown. He was taken to Animal Care and Control in NY who contacted Sean Casey Animal Rescue in Brooklyn. They immediately stepped in and transferred John to their vet.

He is estimated to be about 18 months old and a mere 18 pounds, far less than the 60 or so pounds he should weigh, with a body temperature so low it barely registered and a deep cut on his neck.

He was unable to move but could blink his eyes. He was found with a black collar and silver choke chain so he must have belonged to someone.

Being just skin and bones, and despite his weakened condition, he still managed to wag his tail. He’s in a fight for his life now, and SCAR has no intention of giving up on him.

He is being provided IV fluids and heating pads and will receive the best of medical care. He will feel the love around him and hopefully that will give him the will and determination to pull through.

If you would like to donate to his medical care, here is thelink to the chip-in set up for John. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

Let’s all think positive thoughts for John with hopes that he will rally and start back on the road to a full recovery.

Brooklyn man busted for starving pit bull

Comments Off on Brooklyn man busted for starving pit bull

A brutal Brooklyn man today was busted for starving his pit bull to the point where the tragic animal was eating trash and towels to stay alive, authorities said.

The ASPCA had visited Ledell Walker’s home last year after receiving a call saying his dog was very thin, sources said. Walker, 57, wasn’t home, but afterward, he dropped off his ailing, abused pet at the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital in Manhattan, authorities said.

His 4-year-old pooch — named “Drew” by the veterinarian staff — was so weak that he could barely walk or lift his head, authorities said.

“Drew was nearly dead upon arrival, it was almost too late to save his life,” said ASPCA spokesman Joseph Pentangelo. “Drew suffered from a combination of starvation and medical neglect.”

The grey-and-white dog was anemic, emaciated and had an untreated intestinal blockage. Surgeons removed trash, chewed pieces of plastic and a towel from his stomach — indicating the poor pup had been scavenging for food.

Walker was charged with animal cruelty.

His arrest was the 17th involving animal cruelty in New York City, and the fifth in Brooklyn, so far this year, Pentangelo said.

He also was recently collared for grand larceny and has a past robbery arrest.

‘Sickened’ Staten Island pol wants to outlaw tattoos, piercings for pets

Comments Off on ‘Sickened’ Staten Island pol wants to outlaw tattoos, piercings for pets

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Calling the practice “odd” and nothing more than “animal cruelty,” Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis has introduced legislation that would establish a misdemeanor charge for owners who subject pets to piercings, tattoos and certain other cosmetic surgeries.

Malliotakis (R-East Shore/Brooklyn) says she was driven to address the practice after viewing “PetCrazy,” a documentary about such behavior on “20/20.”

“I was sickened after seeing the images of dogs with tattoos and piercings through their eyebrows and noses,” said Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis in a press release.

“I was sickened after seeing the images of dogs with tattoos and piercings through their eyebrows and noses. While the psychological effects on these animals is an area of debate, the fact remains that most of these procedures require an application of general anesthesia which poses a health risk in itself,” said Malliotakis in a press release. “The animal must then go through the pain of recovery and possible infection, or post-surgery complications. These non-medical cosmetic procedures are not just odd and unnecessary, they amount to animal cruelty.”

This legislation will also cover the sale of companion animals who have been subjected to certain cosmetic procedures, which, in addition to tattooing and piercings, includes devocalization, rhytidectomy (“facelifts”), and abdominoplasty (“tummy-tucks”). Malliotakis hopes this would remove the impetus for retailers to physically modify an animal in the hopes of increasing its value to prospective buyers.

The bill has garnered support from local animal rights advocates, including Anarchy Animal Rescue of Staten Island and No More Tears Rescue.

“I myself think that owning a pet is a privilege not a right. My blood boils every time I hear about an animal being abused. Every day an animal suffers at the hands of some lunatic,” said Catherine Gaffney, a former dog groomer at All Pets Animal Hospital. “If you think that cosmetic surgery is not abuse, think again. If you don’t like the way a cat or dog looks then maybe an aquarium would be a better choice.”

Conviction would result in a misdemeanor, punishable by no more than one year imprisonment, a fine of no more than $1,000, or both. This penalty would be not unlike similar animal rights violations.

The bill will be carried by Sen. Marty Golden (R-Brooklyn) in the state Senate.

The legislators will be garnering support for the bill at the second annual Animal Advocacy Day on June 13 in Albany.
