“I CAN’T FXXXXXG BELIEVE THIS…THESE 2 MURDERING BXXXXXD GET COMMUNITY SERVICE 100 HOURS PER YEAR FOR BRUTALLY STABBING & KILLING A ST.BERNARD PUPPY…was the Judge a friend of the family or what??? This can’t be right…Let me remind you of what they did….

“I believe it started out by them kicking the dog and breaking its ribs, then one of them stood on its head and pressed it into the ground,” said Chief Randal Walker of the Dresden Police Dept.

Officers said they believe Preston Odle, 18, and Levi Evans, 19, tortured a puppy for fun, making this case even more shocking for residents.

”The puppy’s mouth was wired shut, then they put wire around the dogs neck and pulled over a tree limb and pulled it up in the air trying to choke it that way,” said Walker.”

Officers said the brutality did not stop there, according to a statement that was made by one of the boys. Police said Odle then decided to stab the puppy in the back with a knife, which makes this the worst case of animal cruelty in Dresden to date. Residents said they are outraged.
” They don’t understand. It’s pretty sickening, ya know to mistreat an animal like that,” admitted Walker.”

“You tell me, is that sentence enough for what they did? 4 hours they tortured that little puppy…their not kids…something stinks here…someone been getting back-handed payments or what??? I truly am so fxxxxxg angry…I cried myself to sleep the night I posted this, I couldn’t get the images out of my head, how that poor baby must have suffered! “

DRESDEN, TN-  Outside the Weakley County Courthouse 25 people gathered early Thursday morning.

They wore buttons with the picture of a 4-month-old St. Bernard puppy and t-shirts emblazoned with his image.

They carried signs reading, ‘There is no excuse for animal abuse.’  The group ‘Justice For Puppy Doe’ was hoping the ‘justice’ they had spent 6 months fighting for was just minutes away.

It was the day Preston Odle, 18, and Levi Evans, 19, would be sentenced.  In September, the pair plead guilty to animal abuse charges.  They admitted they had beaten and stabbed the stray dog to death.

Inside the courtroom, their lawyers did not make excuses.

Lane Unger, representing Preston Odle told the judge, “It was incredibly stupid what they did.”

Both teens wrote letters that their lawyers read.

On behalf of his client, Levi Evans, Robert Kinton read in part, “My behavior was extremely inappropriate, immature, and lacked any respect. I know I am at fault.”

Circuit Judge William Acree addressed the pair saying, “Both of you are young, you have the opportunity to make something out of your life.”

Instead of a possible 2-year jail sentence, Acree instead sentenced them to 2 years of community service.  Each teen will be responsible for 100 hours a year.

Lisa Oatsvall, active with ‘Justice For Puppy Doe’ said later, “It broke my heart.  It’s not enough.  They should have been in jail.”

Oatsvall and others later released dozens of purple balloons.  She said she was thinking not just of Puppy Doe, but of his abusers.

“Hopefully they’ve learned a lesson from all this so far.  Maybe we’ve taught them something too, we can only hope so.”

Oatsvall says while she is disappointed, she is not giving up.  She tells Local 6 she plans to use the ‘Justice for Puppy Doe’ Group as a jumping off point to help other abused animals.

“Take a good look at this man, it doesn’t say ‘Sexual Predator’ across his forehead, he looks a pretty normal type guy…until you find out what he did. What I’m getting at is, it could be anyone who does this, your next door neighbor, even a family member…they keep their secrets well hidden…so keep your eye’s open at all times…that goes for child sex abuse too, we have to protect the sentient & the young!”

In a hearing this morning, Shelby Municipal Court Judge Jon Schaefer ordered a $25,000 cash bond for Peter Bower, 32, Shelby, for allegedly violating his probation after an ad was discovered online offering dog-sitting services.

Bower was given a court-appointed attorney and remains in Crawford County Jail.

His probation officer, John Workman, told the judge Bower has been doing his community service.

In May 2011, Bower was sentenced to 80 days of community service and two years probation after authorities discovered a history of sexual activity with his 3-year shepherd mix, Aurora.

Bower was asked to undergo a sexual evaluation, take sex addiction classes and pay a $500 fine. He is also prohibited from owning animals.
