Discovery of tortured family dog in New Jersey prompts warning to owners

“September 19th 2012 – I don’t believe in counter violence to settle old scores etc. But boy oh boy, what I wouldn’t give to spend 5 minutes alone with those that did this along; with half my followers! I just can’t imagine those that did it, blending in with a normal family life…they are EVIL; therefore should stick out like a bloody sore thumb! What is the world coming to when your own dog isn’t safe within your yard? These MF‘s must drive around looking for possible dogs, the gentle ones that will come a running with tail wagging…breaks my bloody heart to think of it! R.I.P Ridge, finally no more pain, just lots of lovely juicy bones &  fields to run around; with all the other special ones that crossed Rainbow’s Bridge x”

“Please if you have any information which might help this case, no matter how small or insignificant. please contact the police; no other dog should have to die this way!”

A dog located within the confines of his own family‘s fenced yard should be safe. Unfortunately, that is not always the case.

Days ago in New Brunswick, N.J., the body of a tortured dog was found in a trash bag in an up-scale neighbourhood.

The dog’s name was Ridge and he had a family.

A microchip embedded in the young dog’s body allowed the authorities to determine who that family was, and piece together what had happened prior to Ridge’s untimely death.

Until the day that he was stolen, Ridge was a beloved friend and playmate to his family’s two young children, ages 4 and 5.

But unscrupulous people stole Ridge from his gated, fenced yard and abused him until the day that he was dead and thrown away.

According to the NJ SPCA, Ridge was:

stolen as he played in a locked and gated back yard, used as bait, starved, neglected, abused, burned and tossed out of a moving car window

Along with the heart-wrenching description of the torture that Ridge was subjected to, is a dire warning to pet owners, “Protect Your Pets! Pet Theft is again on the rise.”

Dog fighters, searching for so-calledbait dogs,” do not follow rules. They do not respect boundaries, and last, but certainly not least, they do not care.

Protect your pets, help spare them from being tortured and killed like Ridge.

According to the NJSPCA, an investigation is underway into this innocent dog’s horrific death.

Horse set ablaze sparks animal cruelty investigation

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania state police are investigating a disturbing case of animal cruelty after a family‘s horse is intentionally set on fire.

“We went to get him, this is how we found him, all burned,” says Jessie Woodworth.

Woodworth was frantic when she discovered her horse, named Northstar, had been intentionally set on fire.

State police say someone poured an accelerant on the horse and lighted it, causing severe burns and singeing most of his body.

An act that’s unfathomable to the family.

“He’s 6-years-old, going on 7-years-old, he’s my baby. Just a pleasure horse, we’re not show horses or anything like that, he’s just a companion. He means the world to me,” says Woodworth.

“It makes me sick to my stomach. I was sick. My kids came down and started crying, they couldn’t believe that somebody would hurt their grandma’s horse like this,” says Woodworth’s daughter, Loretta Carr.

“It has to be a sick person for sure, a real sick person. Who would take something out on a defenseless animal?” asks Woodworth.

While she ponders those questions, the family is hoping Northstar can make a full recovery.

“It’s going to be week by week. Hopefully, no infection sets in and as along as no infection sets in he should be okay. All of his hair might not ever grow back but that wont matter,” Woodworth says.

“I hope he survives it. He’s still beautiful, but I hope he looks the way he looked again. He’s a sweetheart of a horse,” Carr adds.

Heroic miracle dog loses face while saving children – Video

Comments Off on Heroic miracle dog loses face while saving children – Video

“OMG…This happened in February but amazing story so I had to share it with you. Firstly what an amazing dog for saving those children. You would think a story like this would show people how wrong it is to eat mans best friend.  Secondly, how the hell did that dog survive without getting an infection whilst she was missing?? Incredible, having seen this It makes me wonder if Vucko, the dog whose face was blown off after youths taped firecrackers into his mouth; he was pts.”

In December, Kabang, a German shepherd, saved two children from being run over by a speeding motorcycle.

In the process she literally had her face ripped off. In fact, in looking at her photo, it is hard to believe that she is alive today – hard to be imagine how she was able to survive her horrific injuries.

Kabang The Hero

But she is alive and she is being hailed a hero by those who have heard her amazing story.

According to the Inquirer-News, Kabang jumped in front of a motorcycle back on December 14, just before the speeding bike ran two children, ages 11 and 9, over.

According to a witness to the dramatic event, the courageous dog threw herself in front of the motorcycle in an effort to save the children from being struck. One of the children was from Kabang’s own family – the other was the child’s cousin.

Tragically, Kabang’s heroic leap planted her snout directly into the wheel of the motorcycle. When the bike flipped, her snout and jaw was ripped from her face.

After the horrific accident, the grievously injured dog fled the scene – nobody saw her for two weeks.

But, she did eventually return home. Her family is grateful for her heroic act and they are not put off by her drastic change in appearance.

They told the Inquirer-News,

“It does not matter if she’s ugly now. What is important to us is she saved our children and we cannot thank her enough for that

Kabang came to be a part of the Bunggal family about a year ago when she was just a puppy. The family considers her more than “just a dog”.

They also believe that her heroic act which result in her permanent disfigurement, was done because she is grateful to them for taking her in.

Today, Kabang has reportedly learned to live with her disfigured face. She uses her paws to help her eat.

She is an amazing dog indeed.

Note: In the Inquirer-News story, the dog is referred to as Kabang. According to Zamboanga Today, her name is actually Tabang.
