GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) –

A 53-year-old Flushing Township man pleaded guilty as charged to allegations that he beat his dog to death after discovering the pet had defecated inside his home.

Kenneth Edward Plouffe pleaded guilty Friday in Genesee Circuit Court to killing/torturing an animal.

Published reports said the incident happened Dec. 30, 2011, after Plouffe and his girlfriend returned to their Flushing Township home after drinking.

The 10-pound female Pomeranian was beaten to death when Plouffe discovered that the animal had left its waste inside the home, according to authorities.

“We take a dim view of individuals who abuse defenseless animals and we prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law,” said Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton.

Plouffe faces a maximum penalty of four years in prison.
