BHOPAL: Three days after a tiger mauled a teacher to death in Katni district, another tiger killed a 22-year-old at Manjhipur village of Mandla district in buffer zone of Kanha National Park.

The woman went missing on Saturday and the body was found in a jungle the next day.

Rambai Dhurve, 22, a resident of Manjhipur village, went into jungle to collect wood along with other villagers, but she did not return, sources said. Next day, when villagers went to look for her into the forest, the body was found there.tiger

“It is an unfortunate incident and a natural accident. Incidents like these have rarely been reported here. The girl went to collect wood and the carnivore was in the trench. The animal attacked her. It is nothing like animal specifically attacked a human being,” Kanha National Park director J S Chauhan told TOI.

“The entire area was searched using elephants on Monday to spot animal, but the big cat could not be trapped. Pugmarks were seen near river and it was quite possible that animal had escaped into the jungle. However, the area will be searched again on Tuesday,” he said.

Man accused of stalking girlfriend, killing her dog, then feeding it her….is out of jail, free on Bail!!

Comments Off on Man accused of stalking girlfriend, killing her dog, then feeding it her….is out of jail, free on Bail!!

According to Wednesday’s KRCR TV News, a Redding, California, man who is accused of attacking his girlfriend, killing her dog and then feeding the dog to the woman, is free on bail.

Last week, 34-year-old Ryan Watenpaugh was arrested on multiple charges, including stalking, animal cruelty, domestic violence…this Wednesday, after posting bail, he was freed from jail. Watenpaugh allegedly stalked his girlfriend and killed her small Pomeranian, “Bear,” and then cooked and served the dog’s meat to his unwitting, now “ex” girlfriend.

SICK POS!!!!

The disturbing incident allegedly took place during a brief reconciliation in September – after the alleged meal, Watenpaugh sent a text message to the woman asking her how her dog tasted. Later, he came to her house and left a bag on her front porch which contained the dog’s paws.

Watenpaugh has been ordered to stay away from his estranged girlfriend; he is scheduled to be back in court on September 23.

Prior story about this situation here. Sept 12th 2014

A Shasta County, California, man is accused of a shocking, almost unbelievable act of cruelty which has resulted in his arrest and a charge of animal cruelty and stalking, reported Friday’s ABC News 7. On Thursday, authorities arrested 34-year-old Ryan Watenpaugh who has been accused of killing a small dog and feeding the dog’s meat to his girlfriend.

Watenpaugh’s former girlfriend claims that she was assaulted by Watenpaugh on August 4 – though she managed to escape from her Redding home, her dog, a Pomeranian named “Bear,” was left behind and was missing by the time that she came back home.

According to the Merced Sun Star, the couple briefly reconciled in September and Watenpaugh cooked a meal for his girlfriend – this past weekend, he allegedly sent her a text and asked “how her dog tasted.” A few days later, the woman heard a vehicle outside of her home and she claims to have spotted Watenpaugh walking to her door carrying something; she later found a bag with her dog’s paws inside.

Police arrested and charged Watenpaugh for stalking, animal cruelty, domestic violence and false imprisonment; he is being held in jail on $250,000 bond. Further weapons charges may be forth-coming after authorities found an AK-47 assault rifle and several high-capacity magazines at Watenpaugh’s home.

Watenpaugh has denied that he cooked the dog and served the meat to his estranged girlfriend, but he has not denied leaving the dog paws at her home, or the disturbing text messages

Shocking photos show the moment a fox is dragged out of its hole by hunters and shot in front of children as young as FIVE

Comments Off on Shocking photos show the moment a fox is dragged out of its hole by hunters and shot in front of children as young as FIVE

“THIS DESPICABLE HEINOUS CRIME MUST STOP….PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION BELOW. How can anyone say that chasing an animal with the intention to kill it is a normal act! These POS get a buzz out of chasing a small animal, purely to kill it…it’s the thrill of the chase; & they love it!!”

By LIZZIE EDMONDS – 27 January 2014

  • Images, released by anti-hunt campaigners, show men setting dog on fox
  • They then use spades to dig creature out of a hole before shooting it dead
  • Critics have today condemned ‘cruel’ and ‘horrific’ incident
  • But Countryside Alliance say the men acted legally under Hunting Act

This is the moment a fox was dragged out of a hole and shot dead while children as young as five watched on.

The images, released by anti-hunt campaigners, show a group of terriermen setting their dog on the  creature.

The fox tries attempts to hide in a badger’s sett – but the three adults fire into the ground and use spades to dig it out.

These images show the moment a group of men unearthed and shot a fox as three young children watched on

A farmer who captured the killing on camera says the group then called over three children to show them the remains.

The men can then be seen walking away with two dead animals. It is unclear where and how the second fox was killed.

The shocking incident happened shortly after a hunt on December 28 by the Modbury Harriers, which rides in south Devon.

The League Against Cruel Sports has handed the photos over to the RSPCA and asked them to investigate it as a possible breach of the Hunting Act..

The law bans hunting foxes with a pack of hounds – however it doesn’t cover the use of dogs to flush out animals underground.

The farmer, who has asked not to be identified, said the fox was initially chased across the field by hounds.

The Countryside Alliance said there was ‘no question’ the behaviour was legal – describing the killing as ‘professional and humane’.

“Just read the above comment on the picture…how can any sane animal lover, who owns just a dog or cat; say this is normal!! I see no difference in this than I do inhumane POS chasing & killing elephants or rhino…they are all sentient beings FFS!!”

The huntsmen moved on but before it could climb out of the badger’s set three men with guns and spades arrived – with three children following close behind.

The farmer said: ‘I sat there in disbelief – how could those guys think any of what had played out was fit for young children to witness?

‘I watched in horror as a whole pack of hounds poured into our neighbour’s field then piled into our meadow.

They made that hideous blood-curdling squealing – known as ‘speaking’ – which means they are on the scent of a fox.

‘I saw a beautiful vixen flash across the meadow and disappear into an old badger sett on my neighbour’s farm.

‘At the top of the hill I saw a couple of guys carrying spades and a terrier on a lead. They were going to dig her out and kill her right then and there.

‘The men came down and filled in the exit holes to stop the fox escaping and then called the children over to watch as they dug out and killed the young vixen.’

Sick Neanderthals!!

The farmer said the three men came across a second badger inside the hole which they also shot dead as the children craned their necks to see what was happening.

He added: ‘This is the dirty underbelly of fox hunting, the bit they don’t like even their followers to see.

‘But I was disgusted to see the terriermen had brought three youngsters to watch – one was only about five years old.

The farmer, who keeps a flock of 140 breeding ewes and a few chickens, is strongly anti-hunting and has complained about huntsmen trespassing on his land.

oe Duckworth, chief executive of the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS), said: ‘This horrific incident of animal cruelty shows not only a total disregard for the dogs and foxes but also for the welfare of the children.’

The Countryside Alliance, however, said there was ‘no question’ the behaviour was legal – describing the killing as ‘professional and humane’.

Spokesman Tim Bonner said the outrage merely demonstrated that outsiders do not ‘understand the realities of the countryside and country life’.

Mr Bonner said he had spoken to the hunt, who told him the killing had been carried out as ‘pest control” with the permission of the landowner.

He said: ‘The children were not in the hole – they were close by – and as far as we are concerned it was a totally professional operation and nothing which should upset anyone.

‘They were using the terrier work exemption and properly, professionally and humanely managing the killing of those two foxes.

‘There would be plenty of children of that sort of age involved in pheasant shoots and ferreting.

‘The vast majority of children eat meat and at the end of the day it is a dead animal.’

The Hunting act:-

The Hunting Act came in to force in February 2005 and was passed under the 1997 Labour government. It bans hunting any wild mammal  – including foxes, deer and hares -with dogs in England and Wales.

Under the Act it is completely legal to ‘flush out’ – i.e. coax an animal from a hole or a sett – with dogs.

It is also legal to drag hunt with hounds. This is when the dogs are trained to follow an artificial scent and is now common practice across the country.

Hunting mammals with dogs was banned in Scotland two years earlier under the Protection of Wild Mammals Act 2002.

It is still legal to hunt in Northern Ireland.

Breaking the law is a summary offence. Those found guilty of doing so would be fined.

There were 181 convictions under the Hunting Act up to the end of 2010.

Baby Girl Is Mauled To Death By Pitbull: Neighbours Say They Warned Police Of The Danger As Couple Are Arrested

Comments Off on Baby Girl Is Mauled To Death By Pitbull: Neighbours Say They Warned Police Of The Danger As Couple Are Arrested

“How many times do we have to go over this; it’s the bloody owners that give this breed a bad rap! Irresponsible owner’s are one of the major causes for all the problems the breed faces today.  Pitbulls have long been selectively bred, over the years to be fighting machines, they are sturdy & strong with a powerful bite force; genetics & training play an important role in how the dog will respond to other dogs or humans. Pitbulls are not inherently aggressive to people; unless taught to be!

Some owners (Perhaps the boyfriend) just want a pitbull to use as a power status or for intimidating others; which is just an accident waiting to happen; and it did!  This tragedy could have been avoided had the owner been a responsible one & kept the dog under control; instead of it being allowed to roam freely around the house, whilst they watched TV? The mother must have been aware of the dogs temperamentt; why didn’t she insist the dog be put in a crate or a locked room; whenever the baby was around? No dog should be left unattended with children; especially babies!  The owner would have known, without doubt, what his dog was capable of doing; for that reason, I think they should both be held responsible for this terrible tragedy! R.I.P little one x

  • 11-month-old Ava-Jayne Corless attacked by pet late last night
  • Neighbours report seeing ‘vicious and terrifying’ pit bull type dog
  • Victim’s mother and stepfather arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and bailed this morning
  • Baby’s father pays tribute to ‘the most beautiful and adorable little girl’
  • Lancashire Police say dog involved in the attack was a banned breed

A baby girl was mauled to death by a dog that neighbours had allegedly warned was dangerous.

Ava-Jayne Corless, who was just 11 months old, suffered horrific injuries when the American pitbull terrier attacked her while she slept.

Her mother, Chloe King, 20, and  boyfriend Lee Wright, 26, heard the commotion and rushed upstairs to rescue her from the jaws of the beast.

Paramedics were called and took Ava-Jayne to hospital where doctors were unable to save her life.

Victim: Ava-Jayne Corless, aged 11 months, has been mauled to death by a pet dog

Miss King and Mr Wright were questioned on suspicion of manslaughter and child neglect, and were today released on bail.

Lancashire Police said: ‘The two people arrested in connection with the death of Ava-Jayne Corless at Blackburn have both been released on bail pending further inquiries.’

Parents: Ava-Jayne pictured with her father Dean and mother Chloe, who are no longer together

A police spokesman said last night that the animal was banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act of 1991.

Senior officers have launched an investigation into reports that neighbours had called Lancashire Constabulary to complain about dangerous animals at the property in Blackburn.

Faisal Shahzad, 35, fled after two dogs broke through his garden fence. ‘I had to run quickly into the house and barricade the door because they were tearing after me,’ said the taxi driver.

‘I’ve got three children and they were all in the house absolutely terrified. The two dogs were scary. I called the police and they said something would be done and my neighbour also called the RSPCA.’

Another neighbour, 80-year-old Brian Harrison, said: ‘That dog was a nightmare for neighbours and people were worried about approaching it.

‘It’s an absolute tragedy that should never have happened. ‘Only last year it mauled to death a neighbour’s cat and nothing was done about it.’

Kyle Perry, 19, was chased down the street by the dog. ‘It was a big dog and it used to just bark and bark,’ he said. ‘I have been chased by it down the street. It was terrifying.’

Blackburn MP Jack Straw said: ‘What will it take to convince people not to keep dogs like this – and to get across to all dog-owners, of every breed of dog, that no dog should ever be left unsupervised with a baby?’

The incident happened at around 11pm on Monday while Miss King was visiting Mr Wright at his home 40 yards from hers.

The pair are understood to have put the baby to sleep in a bedroom and were watching television downstairs when they heard the attack begin. By the time they reached Ava-Jayne she had suffered catastrophic injuries. The dog was destroyed.

Chief Superintendent Chris Bithell said previous contact with neighbours would form part of the police investigation.

Last night,  police said the dog had been identified by experts as a pitbull.
Owners cannot be prosecuted for dog attacks on private property until new legislation comes into force this spring.

Arrest: The victim’s stepfather Lee Wright is being questioned by police on suspicion of manslaughter

Tougher sentences will be introduced under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Bill.

Rachel Cunningham, of the Blue Cross animal charity, said: ‘We can only hope the Government’s planned changes to the bill will allow authorities to step in at the first sign of a dangerous dog and help prevent terrible events like this.’

Jennie Rudd, of animal welfare campaign group Naturewatch Foundation, said dog attacks were caused by irresponsible owners.

Danger: The dog was described as a ‘menace’ before the attack and previously killed a neighbour’s cat

She added: ‘If it has aggressive tendencies it is the owner’s responsibility to make sure it never gets near a child, and that it isn’t forced into situations where it feels it has to attack – because there is always a reason for a dog to bite.’

Last night Ava-Jayne’s father, Dean Corless, 24, said he was devastated by the tragedy: ‘I rushed to the hospital to see her straight away.

‘She was the most beautiful and adorable little girl, she was just the best. She was my  whole world. Her mum and I aren’t together any more, but I saw Ava-Jayne all the time. I will miss her every single day, I just don’t know what to do now.

‘It is just so tragic. I have my family around me now, but we are all devastated.’ The RSPCA confirmed the charity had been contacted after a dog at the address killed a neighbour’s cat. The death was treated as an accident with no action taken.

Comments Off on GRAPHIC IMAGE: Danish zookeepers kill healthy baby giraffe with a bolt gun because he was ‘surplus to requirements’ – then feed him to the LIONS

WTF…this young giraffe didn’t have to die, this is so fxxxxd up! Marius was offered numerous homes along with a guy willing to pay thousands of pounds to save the animal. This is more than tragic & has shown us the public, an insight into these so called Conservation breeding programs! If these zoo’s allow these births, then they should be prepared to re-home the animals if they do not fit in the correct genetic make-up!!

  • Marius was shot with a bolt gun at Copenhagen Zoo
  • Spokesman said they were unable to find Marius a home at another zoo
  • Thousands had signed petitions appealing for a change of heart
  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park reportedly put in a last-ditch offer to take Marius in

This is the horrific moment schoolchildren crowded around to watch as the body of a perfectly healthy giraffe was chopped up before being fed to lions.

Despite more than 20,000 people signing an on-line petition to save two-year-old Marius, staff at Copenhagen Zoo yesterday went ahead and shot the animal with a bolt pistol.

Young children stood at arm’s length as his carcass was skinned and dissected before the meat was thrown to the lions.

Perfectly healthy: The giraffe named Marius who was shot dead and autopsied in the presence of visitors to the gardens at Copenhagen Zoo

The Danish zoo said the drastic move was needed to combat inbreeding and insisted the display was educational.

But animal rights campaigners last night condemned the killing of Marius, saying it exposed the cruel reality of welfare even in Europe’s top zoos.

Marius’s plight had triggered worldwide outpourings of protest, including an offer to re-home him in Britain, with many saying they were sickened by a zoo killing a healthy animal.

Copenhagen Zoo said it was told by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) that Marius was genetically too similar to the other giraffes in its breeding programme. Because captive animals are bred from a limited gene pool, zoos are monitored to prevent inbreeding and ensure the health of future generations.

After announcing plans to have Marius put down, the zoo received offers of a new home – including one from Yorkshire Wildlife Park – as well as a private buyer who offered 500,000 euros (£410,000).

A crown gathers for the public autopsy on Marius’s body

But bosses said the rules of EAZA membership meant animals could not be transferred to institutions that did not follow its rules on breeding programmes.

The zoo’s scientific director, Bengt Holst, said it was the same as parks culling deer to keep the whole population healthy.

He said: ‘Giraffes today breed very well, and when they do you have to choose and make sure the ones you keep are the ones with the best genes. The most important factor must be that the animals are healthy physically and behaviourally and that they have a good life while they are living, whether this life is long or short.’

Marius (centre) was shot with a bolt gun and will be chopped up for the other animals’ dinner.

Mr Holst said the zoo didn’t give its eight giraffes contraceptives due to ‘unwanted side effects on the internal organs’ and in order to allow animals to display natural parenting behaviour. According to Danish media, Copenhagen Zoo destroys 20-30 animals a year, including bears, tigers and zebras.

Mr Holst told the BBC spaces at institutions such as Yorkshire Wildlife Park should be reserved for ‘genetically more important’ giraffes and that the campaign to save Marius had gone ‘much too far’.

To supporters’ horror, the zoo yesterday announced Marius had been killed with a bolt gun instead of a lethal injection, which would have contaminated the flesh.

His carcass was then skinned and chopped up while visitors crowded around and the meat was fed to the lion population.

A lion feasts on the remains of Marius at Copenhagen Zoo after the mammal was put down earlier in the day

A spokesman said parents were allowed to decide whether their children should watch what the zoo regarded as an important display of scientific knowledge about animals, adding that it would have been ‘foolish’ to let the meat go to waste. Doncaster-based Yorkshire Wildlife Park, whose Danish head of ‘hoofstock’ offered to re-home Marius, said it was ‘saddened’ by the news.

‘We have a state-of-the-art giraffe house built in 2012 with a bachelor herd of four male giraffes and the capacity to take an extra male, subject to the agreement of the European studbook keeper,’ it said.

However the park said it received no response by the time it learnt that Marius had been destroyed.

Stine Jensen, of Denmark’s Organisation Against the Suffering of Animals, said the killing showed Copenhagen Zoo was not ‘the  ethical institution that it wants to portray itself as being’.

Longleat Safari Park yesterday admitted it put down two lions and four cubs. The Wiltshire park said it had too many lions and they were growing violent. But visitors asked why new homes were not found.

Proposed Sale Of ‘Puppy Doe’ Figurine Upsets Animal Activists

The proposed sale of a figurine of “Puppy Doe,” a young pit bull mix who Massachusetts authorities say was tortured by a man later found in a New Britain hotel room is drawing the ire of animal welfare advocates.

Puppy Doe, a pit bull that faced horrifically brutal torture, had to be euthanized because of her injuries. Police are now searching for her abuser. | Animal Rescue League of Boston

The Puppy Doe case drew national media attention after the severely injured dog was found in Quincy, Mass. and had to be put to sleep due to the torture that was inflicted on the young female dog named Kiya by one of her former owners. Radoslaw Czerkawski, 32, of Quincy, Mass, pleaded not guilty in December to 12 counts of animal cruelty, and one count of misleading a police investigation in the case after he was found in a New Britain hotel room in October.

Czerkawski is also wanted for larcenies involving a New Bedford, Mass church. He is currently being held without bail as a flight risk, according to the Norfolk State’s Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts which is prosecuting the Puppy Doe case.

Herobuilders, an Oxford, Connecticut-based action figure company owned by Emil Vicale, announced Sunday they would be producing a figurine of the dog estimated to be one to two years old at the time of her death with 10 percent of the proceeds going to animal welfare groups. “I heard about the story and thought it would be a good thing,” Vicale said Monday. “I wanted to make a donation in Puppy Doe’s name.”

But animal welfare advocates who have been raising money in the dog’s name and staging peaceful protests outside the Norfolk courthouse when Czerkawski appears are appalled at the idea, said Deanna Terminiello of Leominster, Mass. “I was shocked,” Terminiello said when she saw Facebook posts promoting the product. “To see that made me sick that someone is trying to make a profit off of a dog that was tortured.”Several other animal welfare advocates also posted similar comments on Terminiello’s Facebook page, “The Truth About The Puppy Doe Vigil,” which has close to 300 members.

The figurines which will go into production this week can be purchased for $29.95. Vicale, who will only produce 2,000 of the resin statues, will donate 10 percent of the profits between the Animal Rescue League of Boston, which is involved in the Puppy Doe case, and the national ASPCA.

Vicale said he expects to make about $10 per figurine after he donates $3 per figurine to the two animal welfare groups. “We are not a charitable organization but we are trying to do something good,” Vicale said. A spokesperson for the Animal Rescue League of Boston said they had not been notified by Homebuilders of the potential donation but confirmed they had received other donations in the name of Puppy Doe. “If someone wants to give to the Animal Rescue League of Boston we recommend that they give directly to our organization,” said Ami Bowers, director of marketing for the group.“They could be giving us the proceeds but at this point we don’t know because we haven’t heard from them.”

A spokesperson for the Connecticut state Humane Society of the United States which offers rewards in animal abuse cases and help in prosecuting animal cruelty cases applauded the sale of the figurines. “It does seem like a well intentioned effort to raise awareness and help fund groups that support animal welfare,” said Ami Hornish, the director of the Connecticut chapter of the HSUS.

But Terminiello, who along with others helped raise $2,500 to donate to the Quincy animal shelter after the dog’s death and who attended a protest in December at the courthouse called the sale of the figurines “sickening.” “This is not about fame, it’s not about fortune,” she said. “Anyone who would profit off this dog is unimaginable.” David Traub, a spokesperson for the Norfolk State’s Attorney’s Office said Czerkawski is due back in court Feb. 11.

Michael David Parker, 45, was arrested Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty after little Cow Cow was found lifeless in a back alley in Hawthorne. Police released a disturbing surveillance video that they say shows Parker driving his sedan straight over the helpless pooch, and then zooming away.

Viewer Discretion Strongly Advised

A southern California man intentionally mowed down his pint-sized pet Chihuahua using his Nissan Maxima — and the heartless act was caught by two surveillance cameras, police said Monday.

Michael David Parker, 45, was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony animal cruelty after the precious pooch, named Cow Cow, was found lifeless in a back alley in Hawthorne, Calif.

Michael David Parker, 45, of Hawthorne, Calif., was arrested Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty after his pet Chihuahua, Cow Cow, was found dead in a back alley.

In the disturbing surveillance video released by police, Parker is seen driving his four-door sedan into the alley on Dec. 28, getting out of his vehicle, opening and closing the trunk and then climbing back into the car.

Seconds later, Cow Cow scurries out from behind the vehicle and darts in front of it.

Parker then backs up and points the car straight at the helpless hound. He guns the engine and zooms over the dog without stopping.

Video showing the back of the car shows 5-year-old Cow Cow writhing on the road until he turns motionless.

Police say Parker (pictured) admits he was in the alley that afternoon but claims he didn’t mean to harm Cow Cow.

‘It’s shocking,’ Hawthorne Police Lt. Scott Swain told the Daily News. ‘You never expect to see a little animal like that run over and left there to die.’

“It’s shocking. You never expect to see a little animal like that run over and left there to die without the driver even looking back,” Hawthorne Police Lt. Scott Swain told the Daily News.

EVIL Michael David Parker

“It wasn’t an accident. He purposefully did it.”

Lt. Swain said Parker admits he was in the alley that afternoon but claims he didn’t mean to harm the defenceless dog.

The dog had been staying with a neutral third-party after Parker and his wife recently split up, he said.

“There’s not indication it was tied to a domestic dispute,” Lt. Swain said Monday.

“We spoke to the wife, and she didn’t know it had happened. She didn’t give any indication it might have been payback.”

Parker posted $20,000 bail and was ordered back to court for arraignment on March 25.

POSTED: 01/06/14, UPDATED: 2 DAYS AGO By Larry Altman -larry.altman@langnews.com @larryaltman on Twitter

In a disturbing crime caught entirely on video, a 45-year-old man purposely drove over his pet Chihuahua, speeding away as the bloodied dog convulsed and died in a Hawthorne alley, police said Monday.

SICK POS!!!!

Michael David Parker, 45, of Hawthorne was arrested Friday on suspicion of animal cruelty. He was released from jail after posting $20,000 bail, Hawthorne police Lt. Scott Swain said.

“It’s a little poor defenceless dog and the guy just runs right over it and leaves and doesn’t offer any help,” Swain said.

Parker admitted to police that he’s in the video, but told detectives it was an accident. The shocking video, however, seems to suggest otherwise.

“You can see him swerving toward the dog,” Swain said.

Parker, the facilities manager at the Hustler Casino in Gardena, did not return a message left at his office. A friend of Parker’s estranged wife, Olga Parker, told the Daily Breeze that the killing stemmed from a bitter divorce. The couple’s two dogs, Cow Cow and Lucky, lived at the couple’s otherwise vacant house on First Street in San Pedro. Olga Parker stopped by every day to feed them. Now that Cow Cow has been found dead, Olga Parker is concerned about Lucky, who is missing.

“She is so distraught right now,” the friend said. “He knew that Olga loved these dogs desperately.”

Police and animal control officers began an investigation Thursday when a resident reported the dead animal in an alley off El Segundo Boulevard and Doty Avenue. The dog had been dead for several days, so someone had placed it in a plastic bag, Swain said.

The resident went to police after reviewing surveillance video focused on the alley. The video shows a man pulling into the alley on Dec. 28 and, after a couple of minutes, running over the dog, Swain said.

“The resident was shocked,” Swain said. “I went over there with a detective Friday morning. I watched it and you are horrified.”

The video shows the man get out of his car and open the trunk. He then gets back into his car. The male dog, 5-1/2-year-old Cow Cow, which had presumably been in the trunk, runs forward and stops in the center of the alley.

Parker backs his vehicle up, and then appears to accelerate rapidly, steering directly toward the dog,” Swain said. “Cow Cow is run completely over.”

A second video shot from the rear of the car shows the dog writhing on the ground until it dies.

“It’s gruesome,” Swain said. “It starts bleeding, his little back leg twitching.”

Police said the motive for the crime was unknown, even though Parker and his wife are estranged.

“There’s no indication that’s it, ‘I’m angry at you. That’s why I’m doing that,’ ” Swain said. “It is both of their dogs. So we don’t have a motive. He was arrested and he didn’t want to go into details. He didn’t indicate why he did it.”

But Parker’s estranged wife’s friend, who asked to remain anonymous for his own protection, said Parker became irate Dec. 28 when she refused to sign their San Pedro house over to him.

“He made threats against her and her family,” the friend said. “He said, ‘You are going to sign these documents or else.’ ”

Olga Parker filed for divorce in the summer of 2011 following 16 years of marriage. The couple have three children — two boys ages 15 and 12, and a 6-year-old daughter. Parker has since had a child with a new girlfriend.

The divorce settlement has slowly been making its way through family court. The friend said cutbacks in the Superior Court system in Los Angeles County have slowed the process.

Parker and his estranged wife both moved out of their San Pedro residence, but Parker wants to take control of it, the wife’s friend said.

“This guy is just a piece of work,” the friend said. “He believes he is above the law because of his position with Larry Flynt.”

Flynt, a famous publisher of pornographic magazines, owns the Hustler Casino where Parker works.

The friend described the missing dog, Lucky, as a black mutt, with a white underside.

Olga Parker has told her children that the dogs are gone and that one was killed. One child told his mother he did not believe his father would do such a thing, the friend said.

Parker is scheduled for arraignment March 25 at the Airport courthouse in Del Aire.

“This has gone too far,” the friend said. “If this guy doesn’t go to jail for this, there is no justice.”

GRAPHIC CONTENT: ‘A gruesome, medieval scene’: Shocking images reveal Japanese fleet is slaughtering whales INSIDE an international sanctuary

Comments Off on GRAPHIC CONTENT: ‘A gruesome, medieval scene’: Shocking images reveal Japanese fleet is slaughtering whales INSIDE an international sanctuary

  • Campaigners say they spotted vessels in Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary
  • Images of whale carcasses on bloodied ship deck captured from a helicopter
  • Another minke whale was being butchered on board, says Sea Shepherd
  • Commercial whale hunting outlawed in 1994

Japanese whaling vessels allowed ‘for research purposes’

Sea Shepherd said they had spotted the Japanese fleet today and captured evidence that four whales had been slaughtered, alleging the ships were found inside the sanctuary
MURDERERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Militant anti-whaling group Sea Shepherd says it spotted the Nisshin Maru sailing through the protected Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary during the annual whaling season.

As the Sea Shepherd’s helicopter flew above the Japanese ship, campaigners shot footage of the blood-streaked deck and the carcasses of three dead minke whales lying on the ship as another creature was butchered.

This photograph of three dead minke whales was taken by anti-whaling campaigners after they allegedly caught the Japanese vessel inside an internationally-recognised sanctuary. MURDERERS!!!!!

Sea Shepherd said it had spotted the Japanese fleet yesterday and captured evidence that four whales had been slaughtered this morning, alleging the ships were found inside the sanctuary.

Campaigners said they had located all five Japanese vessels and were now in pursuit, forcing the harpooners to cut short their operation and retreat.

Sea Shepherd said that another whale, also believed to be a minke, was being butchered on board. MURDERING BXXXXXD’S

‘That’s just a gruesome, bloody, medieval scene which has no place in this modern world.’

When the Nisshin Maru was first spotted from the air, Dr Brown said it was in Antarctica’s Ross Dependency, within New Zealand’s territorial waters and the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary, which he described as a ‘gross breach of international law’.

The commercial hunting of whales is prohibited in the sanctuary, which was designated by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 1994, but Japan catches the animals there under a ‘scientific research’ loophole in the moratorium on whaling.

New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully denied whaling was taking place within his country’s maritime jurisdiction, saying the site was considered international waters, as he condemned the ‘pointless and offensive’ practice.

Peter Hammarstedt, captain of the Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker, said Japan had shown ‘flagrant disregard for international law’ by continuing whaling

‘The New Zealand government has repeatedly called on Japan to end its whaling programme. We reiterate this message today,’ he said.

‘There is nothing scientific about this, it is butchery,’ Mr Brown said.

‘The one thing that’s missing here is gumption – a bit of spine in Canberra and in Wellington to put an end to it.’

Australia has taken Japan to the International Court of Justice seeking to have its research whaling programme declared illegal, with a ruling due this year.

Peter Hammarstedt, captain of the Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker, said Japan had shown ‘flagrant disregard for international law by continuing their illegal whale hunt while the world patiently awaits a decision from the International Court of Justice’.

Japan’s fisheries agency said its programme was being conducted ‘in line with a research plan submitted to the IWC’

Sea Shepherd left Australia for their 10th annual harassment campaign of the Japanese fleet last month, sending three ships to tail and run interference against the harpooners.

High-seas clashes between the two groups are common, resulting in the 2010 sinking of the Sea Shepherd vessel Ady Gil.

Australia will be monitoring confrontations between the pair from a government jet which is due to fly surveillance missions over the Southern Ocean between January and March.

However, Dr Brown said there had so far been no sign of the aircraft.

When Tourists Attack: 9 Crocodiles Stoned to Death at Chinese Zoo

Comments Off on When Tourists Attack: 9 Crocodiles Stoned to Death at Chinese Zoo

“WTF…first it’s lions, now it’s crocodiles…who are the real monsters here? It seems some, REPEAT some, Chinese knob heads are not happy unless they are seeing an animal suffer, or watching a live animal be fed upon by lions kept at such zoos in China. Your seriously telling me that if zoo staff were around, they would stop these stupid MF’s from having their fun…I doubt it. What I do know is that the wrong animals are behind bars…these animals are free; to go kill other animals that don’t satisfy them!!”

“Please note, go to the link at the end to sign petitions to protect wildlife.”

At best, zoos are institutions of conservation and wildlife education. At worst, they’re abusive prisons that exploit wildlife to make money.

But this tale of zoo cruelty out of China is beyond the pale—recently, visitors to a Shenzhen zoo killed nine crocodiles by throwing rocks and garbage into their exhibit.

Who are the real monsters??

The incident apparently stemmed from visitors’ dissatisfaction with the hibernating crocodiles. Trying to get the reptiles to move, guests began yelling and spitting at the animals. This behaviour quickly escalated into more extreme abuse: trash, stones and random objects were thrown at the sleeping crocodiles.

The zoo’s staff maintains that it was unable to stop people from hurling things into the crocodile enclosure. It was only later, when zoo-keepers went to clean the garbage out of the exhibit, that they discovered nine of the 11 crocodiles were dead.

While a violent crowd may seem out of zoo-keepers  control, Chinese zoos have faced accusations of negligence before. It seems unlikely that the zoo officials were completely powerless to protect the crocodiles. Even if they were, they could have checked on the animals sooner rather than later—potentially saving some crocodiles from death.

Unfortunately this is not the first time a Chinese zoo has come under fire for careless staff or animal cruelty.

A few days ago visitors to the Hangzhou Zoo threw snowballs at the zoo’s lions; there was no zoo staff present to stop the crowd.

Two years ago the Animals Asia Foundation published a report chronicling the horrible conditions and untrained staff found at many Chinese zoos.

One of the worst offences was forcing zoo animals to perform tricks using whips and metal hooks to direct them. The report says: “The appalling treatment of many animals by performance staff demonstrates a lack of compassion and respect for animals.

Allowing the public to view animals being forced to behave unnaturally, and in many cases being beaten into performing, conveys the message that it is acceptable to dominate and harm animals in the name of entertainment.” Chinese zoos have also been accused of live-feeding, which involves starving predatory animals and having them stalk live prey to entertain visitors.

A 22-year-old man suspected of killing a monkey at the Boise zoo is scheduled to be moved to a jail in Idaho‘s capital.

Watkins faces an arraignment hearing Wednesday in 4th District Court.

The patas monkey died early Saturday of blunt force trauma.

Authorities say they’ll charge Watkins with a pair of felonies: burglary, for allegedly breaking into Zoo Boise, and grand theft, for taking and killing the monkey.

Police don’t plan to charge a second man who was with Watkins, but apparently never entered the zoo.

A citizen’s tip led to Watkins’ arrest.
