“OMG…this POS must be mentally impaired, as no sane person would do such despicable things to innocent puppies! His name & picture need to be on any Animal Abuse Registers & on every shelter wall. I hope he rots in jail, where hopefully another inmate might show him more things one can do with a pair of scissors 🙂 (sorry some posts are outdated but I feel some stories need to be told; especially if it may help others by sharing an image of the offending party) My apologise to anyone who sent me stories to be posted & they haven’t been done yet, I’m splitting my time between so many different things, I’m meeting myself coming backwards!!”
By Eric W. Dolan – Tuesday, August 13, (No updates seen as yet)
A man in Cobb County, Georgia has been arrested for allegedly mutilating two puppies his neighbors gave him to watch.
A 14-year-old neighbour of Davishad given him and his girlfriend the twopit bullpuppies. A pit bull rescue groupwas going to pick the dogs up within a few days. But the neighbour, Tyler Tedesco, learned that Davis had killed the two puppies. He called 911.
“I saw that, I dropped what I was doing and just walked away. I couldn’t bear to see that because I raised those dogs,” Tedesco told WSBTV.
Davis allegedly killed both puppies with apair of scissors. Police said one dog was beheaded, while the other was stabbed in the throat. It is unclear why Davis killed the puppies.
“We all ran back to the house and cried. As soon as we saw it, it was something nobody wants to go through or see. And it’s really hard for all of us to know that somebody could even do that to a poor innocent animal,” Tedesco said.
“How in hell could this knob head not notice his horse was lame? Horses have a distinct bob of the head, that indicates which leg, front or back is causing them pain; thus making them lame! You would have to be a complete novice not to notice a horse that is lame! I’ve said it before & will carry on saying it…horses should not be used on the streets of NYC, working nose to tail amongst car fumes; 9 hours a day, seven days a week!! Any idiot could drive a horse pulled carriage; but it takes a real horse lover to really understand the horse & know when they are ill!! I feel guilty that my horse has to be stabled each night, to let the grass rest over winter…but these poor horses only feel grass under their feet for a couple of weeks per year; it’s wrong, very wrong!!”
A carriage horse driver with a chequered history was charged on Friday with animal cruelty after a police officer observed him working a horse that was visibly injured, according to court documents.
Horses working 9 hours a day, 7 days a week IS WRONG!! (Not Blondie)
The officer, Brian Coll, was on patrol in Central Park shortly before midnight on Wednesday when he noticed a horse struggling to pull the weight of the carriage to which it was yoked.
He questioned the driver, Saverio Colarusso, and learned that the horse, Blondie, had been hurt for four days, according to court documents.
Despite the injury, Mr. Colarusso had worked Blondie for five hours that day, Officer Coll testified in the complaint.
He then summoned Sgt. Raymond Aviles, a mounted police officer with training in dealing with horses.
“The horse had an injury to the rear left leg,” Officer Coll testified, “causing it to have difficulty walking and substantial pain.”
Mr. Colarusso was arrested. If found guilty, he could face a fine of up to $1,000 and a year in jail.
It is not the first time Mr. Colarusso has gotten in trouble. In 2010, he was charged with drinking while on duty after being spotted drinking a beer while standing next to his carriage. Two other bottles of liquor were found inside the carriage.
He has also been fined for driving his horse through city streets at unauthorized times, failing to keep a daily log and not turning on the lamps on the side of his carriage after dark.
A lawyer representing Mr. Colarusso did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
About 200 horses work in Central Park, and animal rights advocates said that while Mr. Colarusso’s arrest might be unusual, many horses onNew York City’sstreets were suffering.
“This incident further reinforces the need for an end to carriage horse operations in the city,” said Bret Hopman, a spokesman for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. “The A.S.P.C.A. believes that the use of carriage horses in 21st-century New York City is unnatural, unnecessary and an undeniable strain on the horses’ quality of life.”
The union that represents carriage drivers did not respond to calls and an email seeking comment.
Christina Hansen, a spokeswoman for the carriage industry, said it was “shocked and saddened to learn that one of our drivers was charged with animal cruelty.”
She said that if the driver were to be convicted, it would be the first time a carriage operator, owner or stable was found to have committed cruelty.
“I have spoken with the owner of Blondie, who says that he was unaware that Blondie had shown any signs of lameness or discomfort when being driven by Mr. Colarusso,” she said.
Ms. Hansen did not identify the owner by name, but she said: “He has suspended Mr. Colarusso pending the outcome of the investigation. We do not tolerate any mistreatment of the carriage horses in our business.”
If the police had not noticed Blondie’s condition, animal experts said, the injury could have proved fatal.
A subsequent examination by a police veterinarian found that Blondie had a condition called thrush — an infection of the hoof that if left untreated can lead to the horse becoming permanently lame, and subject to euthanasia.
Thursh can occur when a horse is not cared for properly and is kept in unclean conditions. After Mr. Colarusso’s arrest, an order of protection was issued directing him to stay away from Blondie.
Our Agents rely on concerned citizens toreport incidents or issues they may witness regarding the care and conditions of NYC’s carriage horses. The following tips will help you report suspected carriage horse problems:
The two most important pieces of information to provide are the time of the incident and the carriage license plate, a 4-digit number located on the back of the carriage. With the time and number, we can track down the horse and driver involved.
Other helpful information can include: color of horse, color of carriage, location of incident and hoof brand number of horse.
To report carriage horse cruelty or neglect, contact us at enforcement@aspca.org or 877-THE-ASPCA (843-2772).
How You Can Help
If you are a resident of NYC, show your support by contacting your Councilmember and asking him or her to support Intro. 86, the humane and safe alternative to the carriage horse industry.
If you are from out of town, please write to the mayor to voice your concern, and stay involved by visiting our website at ASPCA.org.
If you witness any abuse of a carriage horse, write down the license plate number found on the back of the carriage, the time and location, along with the color of the horse or any distinguishing markings, and, if possible, the horse’s hoof number, which is branded on the front left hoof. Then call 877-THE-ASPCA (843-2772) to report it.
FORKS, Wash. — It’s a noble cause: Give sanctuary to dangerous dogs whose only other option is being euthanized. But critics say the man who runs the Olympic Animal Sanctuary has failed that mission and the many dogs in his care should be removed.
Despite concerns over living conditions for dogs at a Forks, Wash., dog sanctuary, town officials have elected not to shut down the Olympic Animal Sanctuary (OAS) – this morning, animal advocates from Dogs Deserve Better arrived to see the dogs’ living conditions first hand.
Dogs Deserve Better founder Tamira Thayne and Rescue Coordinator Robin Budin arrived to the “sanctuary,” at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The organization had placed a dog named “Sonny,” in the care of OAS and following claims that the dogs at the sanctuary are neglected, they have decided that they want the dog back.
The following was posted about the women’s attempt to see Sonny:
Steve Markwell’s vehicle was not on the premises but he sent two policeman to ensure that we did not trespass on his property. We bear signs saying “We are here for our tour” and “We’d like to see Sonny now”, These are perfectly reasonable requests.
It is 29 degrees here right now and we are told the building isn’t heated. We can hear all the dogs barking. They will bark all day while we are here. We will stay here until three in hopes that Markwell will give us a tour and our dog back.
In September, KOMO News conducted an investigative report on the sanctuary, which has come to be known to many as the “sanctuary of sorrow.”
Critics have accused OAS, which is owned and operated by Steve Markwell, of housing dogs in small, dirty crates and pens. Markwell could not disprove the critics when KOMO News investigators arrived because he denied them entry.
Former volunteers for OAS told KOMO News that OAS is:
A hell hole for these animals
An absolute nightmare
Even a Forks police officer found the living conditions to be less-than-ideal.
Despite the statements from former volunteers and a local police officer, the authorities and town officials have done nothing to shut OAS down.
Clickhere to follow Dogs Deserve Better on Facebook…updates will be posted when/if Markwell allows the women inside to see what the living conditions are for the dogs in his care.
On Thursday morning, a recount of what took place on Wednesday was published, including photos taken by the women who were hoping to see the conditions inside – read more here.

Company Overview
Dogs Deserve Better, 2003 First Place Winner of the ASPCA/Chase Pet Protector Award, is a voice for chained and penned dogs, whose sadness speaks only through the eyes. As the days become years, many of these dogs sit, lay, eat, and defecate within the same 10-foot radius. Chained by the neck, they exist without respect, love, exercise, social interaction, and sometimes even basic nourishment. They live as prisoners, yet long to be pets.

More protesters arrive in Forks Wa for the dogs at OAS Sunday December 8. Robin Budin and Tamira Thayne watch from 500 feet due to the infringement of their right to free speech
Listen to the mournful cries of the dogs waiting for help. When will it arrive…ever?
Arrested for the Dogs at OAS in Forks Washington, December 6, 2013
Published on 8 Dec 2013 arrested
On December 6, 2013, Dogs Deserve Better founder Tamira Thayne was peacefully protesting on behalf of the dogs trapped in cages at the Olympic Animal Sanctuary in Forks, Washington. She was arrested due to a bogus restraining order filed by the sanctuary founder in an attempt to silence her and interfere with her constitutionally protected rights of free speech.
Many have been trying to get help for these dogs for at least two years. Complaints have been filed by former volunteers and neighbors, and Forks Police did investigate, finding horrendous conditions, in November 2012 but never followed through with a cruelty arrest. Instead, they made a deal with the founder of OAS that he would cut down the number of dogs to 60. This deal has not been honored, and rescue groups attempting to get dogs returned to them from the warehouse conditions have been denied.
Rescue exists for every dog in the facility, and groups stand by to get their dogs returned or released to other rescues for evaluation and rehabilitation whenever possible. Yet OAS refuses to allow anyone inside to see conditions or to return any dogs.
During the time that DDB founder Tamira Thayne and rescue coordinator Robin Budin protested outside the facility from December 4-6, no one was observed entering or leaving the premises to care for the dogs. No dogs were walked, and only one dog was visible in the outside yard. The dogs cried in unison repeatedly all throughout the day. They were not allowed in and instead were met by police to ensure they didn’t trespass. We are told the warehouse isn’t heated, and even if it were there are large gaps in the wall panels and windows upstairs remain open even in driving snow and temperatures in the lower twenties.

A dog’s life at Olympic Animal Sanctuary is portrayed as wonderful, with the dogs residing at the facility being well cared for. Photos on this site show the true life of a dog at Olympic Animal Sanctuary, and that reality is much different than the pretty picture that is verbally painted on the organization’s website.
Animal Rescue Corps made the incredible offer to the City of Forks providing a safe alternative for removal of the dogs, but, as of November 2013, Forks Authorities have continued to refuse their offer.
Please join in our effort to bring an end to their suffering and get them safely rescued and into facilities where they will be better taken care of, or forever homes, if they are deemed adoptable.
Please contact the authorities listed in the link below — ask elected officials why they are allowing the dogs to remain in these conditions and why they aren’t adhering to animal abuse laws:- http://olympicanimalsanctuary.info/be-their-voice.html
FORKS, Wash. — Pressure continues to build on a controversial dog shelter in Forks that’s accused of severely mistreating its animals.
A lawsuithas now been filed against the man who runs the Olympic Animal Sanctuary, accusing him of “failing to provide adequate and humane care” for a dog named Leroy and refusing to give back the dog placed there temporarily.
A pretrial hearing was held Monday in Ellis County Court at Law No. 2 on a case involving animal cruelty.
Waxahachie police officers arrested Michelle Lehman on July 29, 2011 for the alleged offence. Lehman has been charged with 11 counts of cruelty to a non-livestock animal.
Lehman’s attorney, Rodney Ramsey, presented a motion to dismiss to Judge Gene Calvert at Monday’s hearing. Ramsey based his motion that the police officers illegally entered the property and had no probable cause to do so.
Judge Calvert then asked both sides to present evidence.
Ellis County Assistant County and District Attorney Seth McCloskey presented a recording of a 9-1-1 call that prompted the officers to respond to the property. On the recording, the caller reported to dispatchers that he saw a woman beating a dog with a stick in a field as he drove by on Ovilla Road.
Following the playing of the recording, McCloskey called Waxahachie Police Officer David Bittle to the stand. Bittle testifiedafter he had received the call he met with the motorist at a church down the road before going to the location.
Bittle said at the location officers met Lehman at the fence line of the property. Bittle explained their reason for being there. He said Lehman denied the claim that she had beaten an animal.
Both Ramsey and McCloskey asked Bittle if officers had permission to go on the property. Bittle informed the court that Lehman had given the officers permission.
Upon entering the property, Bittle said Lehman had multiple dogs chained up in different places. Plastic barrels had been cut in half to be used as shelters for the animals and some of the animals appeared to be mangy and sick.
Ramsey asked Bittle if he knew what condition the animals were in when they were brought to Lehman’s property, when they were fed or last received water. Bittle said he did not know.
Since the police department does not deal with many cases that involve animals, Bittle said help was requested from Waxahachie Senior Animal Control Officer and Advanced Animal Cruelty Investigator Warren Howell.
Following Bittle’s testimony, Waxahachie Police Officer Brian Fullerwas called to testify.
Fuller corroborated Bittle’s testimony about Lehman giving them permission to enter the property and his assessment of the animals.
Waxahachie Police Lt. Billie Pendleton was then called to the stand to reaffirm that the officers made first contact with the defendant outside the gate leading into the property and gained permission first.
Pendleton said she observed that some of the animals where skinny and had skin conditions. Pendleton stated the only food available for the animals at the site, which Lehman referred to as a “rescue facility” was pizza crusts. The water in the bowls was green in some cases, she said.
Ramsey asked Pendleton what made her think that she had a case of animal cruelty? Pendleton said one of the big factors that led to the arrest was the condition of a dog that had been tied up, was out of the reach of water, was sickly and appeared to be deceased or near death.
Howell was then called to the stand and stated that he spoke with the defendant and asked to conduct a welfare check of the animals on the property, which she gave permission to do so.
Howell reported that there were animals that were on short leashes, which resulted in cuts around the neck. He added food bowls were overturned, there were some animals that appeared to be very skinny and some had bones showing.
Some of the animals were in need of immediate medical care, Howell said. One of the examples Howell cited during the hearing about the poor condition of the animals was seeing a cat that passed a tar-like substance directly in front of him.
Lehman then took the stand to provide the court with her testimony. Before answering questions, Judge Calvert advised Lehman of her rights and told her that she was not required to testify in court.
Ramsey asked Lehman if she provided consent for the officers to enter her property. She told the court she did not give consent and said she “didn’t know who the woman who was swinging the stick but wishes (the police) could find her.”
McCloskey asked Lehman how she obtained the pets for a “rescue” shelter. Lehman told the court that some of the animals were owner surrenders because the current owner could not financially take care their pet any more.
Other animals were ones Lehman found on the streets who appeared to be abandoned and in poor health.
Lehman said when she picked them up off the street, she would place flyers at the location where the animal was found or at a local business in effort to contact the owners. A few times owners did contact her and retrieved their pets, but Lehman could provide the court with no records of these events.
During the times she did adopt animals, Lehman told the court she did require a home visit to ensure the safety and welfare of the animal but could not provide any paperwork on adoptions.
McCloskey asked Lehman if medical care was provided to the animals and how she was able to fund these operations. Lehman said she supported the operations on the property through the money she earned as a part-time stagehand. These funds paid for the medical care if the animals got sick and had to see the veterinarian. Visits to the vet were paid in cash, Lehman said. She told the court she did provide documentation of these visits to Howell when he was at the site conducting the welfare check.
Lehman was asked about where the food she received for the animals came from. She told the court the pizza crusts came from a friend who saved them from cleaning tables at local restaurant.
Judge Calvert asked Lehman if she had a separate residence. Lehman said she had places that she could go to but chose to stay with the animals at the barn. Through earlier questioning, Lehman indicated that the barn only had running water that was provided by an outdoor water spicket.
At the end of the pre-trial hearing, Judge Calvert ruled that the officers responding to the call had probable cause and had the right to enter the property based on the evidence provided in court.
Calvert denied Ramsey’s motion to suppress.
Following his decision, jury selection for the trial was set for 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12.
Last Tuesday morning Bear and his handler, Officer Vincent Tieniber, came to the aid of another officer who was attempting to break up a fight between four women on a subway platform.
“Ninety-nine percent of the time, when we come to the scene, people cooperate,” said Tieniber. “No one really wants to be bit by a dog.”
Unfortunately one of the women was extremely uncooperative. In the scuffle Bear was kicked in the mouth as she resisted arrest. Bear did not let this stop him from getting the job done. When the women kicked at Bear a second time he clamped down on her foot until she was handcuffed.
The ordeal left Bear with several broken teeth, a cut up tongue and a swollen snout.
On Wednesday he was able to leave the animal hospital and when he did he was greeted by his fellow NYPD K-9 officers. Bear will require a few more weeks of rest and treatment, but will make a full recovery and return to work once he is recovered.
The woman responsible for kicking Bear is facing several charges, including injuring a police animal.

Cold, emotionless, and unforgiving police in Hawthorne, CA, shot the dog of a peaceful man who was filming the police, one out of many people filming who happened to be nearest to the police. Not only that, but for trying to hold the police accountable, he was arrested after his dog was slaughtered.
Caught on a disturbing video– a Hawthorne police officer shot a not so violent looking dog in front of several people filming the police, as they raided a house with a gang of officers, with several police cars nearby.
The man nearest to the police filming, the man who had his dog slaughtered in cold blood, was apparently the one who irritated the officers most, because at least 3 other people were filming too.
Police shoot dog
As a consequence of this man’s righteous action of filming the police to hold them accountable, he was selectively picked out and arrested.
As he was being detained, after placing his dog in his car for the dog’s own protection, he unexpectedly jumped out of the car, and began barking at the officers.
The dog really, honestly was not very threatening, and the officer could have solved the problem much more peacefully than shooting the poor dog point blank in front of a neighbourhood of witnesses. But what did the officer care?
For fun perhaps, he shot the dog several times, and it was a sad scene, as the animal lay on the pavement, twitching while the bystanders gasped in horror. The video is below this article. I strongly suggest the viewers of this article make this a widely publicized event, a viral outrage that spreads like wildfire, meant to hold the police accountable and utilize our technology in this new era that we can make corruption free.
Share this article if you will, or spread the word some other means. The police are constitutionally, legally, not allowed to do this, or anything for that matter, except keep the peace.
Police murdering dogs is an epidemic, characteristic of the police state we live in. It is our duty and well within our abilities, to change it.
Swat and police are waiting on people to come out of the house, when a guy pulls up to record the scene. His dog runs out the car while the cops shoot in defence.
Leon Rosby Interview EMOTIONAL | Hawthorne ca Police Kill Dog

Police SHOOT KILL Dog GRAPHIC VIDEO | Interview Leon Rosby Distraught Owner.
HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KABC) — Police officers shot a man’s dog in Hawthorne and it was all caught on video that has gone viral online. The Hawthorne Police Department has been inundated with angry emails and calls about the shooting.
Leon Rosby relives his pain as he watches video of his dog’s final moments before it was shot by Hawthorne police on Sunday. “They took a member of my family. They took a member of my family,” Rosby said through tears.
Hawthorne police responded to an armed robbery on 137th Street, where a standoff ensued. Investigators said Rosby was interfering by blaring music from his car and walking within close proximity of armed officers. After Rosby put his 2-year-old Rottweiler, Max, in the car, two officers approached Rosby and handcuffed him. Moments later, Max jumped from the car and came to his owners aid.
“I said, ‘No Max. No. Stop.’ And then I came out and I said, ‘Please don’t kill my dog. Please don’t kill my dog,'” recalled Rosby. “He’s just having convulsions. He’s in pain. But he hollered out and tried to look back at me. He tried to look back at me to see if I was OK. I’m a grown man. I’m 52 years old. I never thought I’d get attached to a dog like that.” Hawthorne police wouldn’t talk to us on camera. They said they are truly sensitive to the loss of the dog, but officers feared that Max would bite them. The department said it is investigating the incident.
There were many neighbors, including children, who witnessed the shooting. “I started screaming. Now I’m traumatized. I never saw someone get shot or get killed or see anything get killed like that,” said witness Samantha Othieno. “I’m like seriously traumatized because I can’t believe they did that.”
According to police, at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sixth Precinct patrol officers received a 911 call from a woman at 82 Lincoln Road reporting that her neighbor had shot her dog.
When police officers Ettore Naclerio and Michael Cafarella arrived to the home, they noticed that the German Shepardhad a BB gun pellet lodged in his nose and the dog was bleeding. Police said the injuries were non-life-threatening.
Frey was arrested at the scene and police said he was found to be in possession of a gravity knife when he was arrested, spurring the weapons possession charge.
“Yes, I’m writing through tears, why? well obviously because I’m saddened by this, but also; because I wish there were more people like this in the world. Why can’t all people have the compassion & empathy, this young police officer showed? It doesn’t cost anything to be kind…people around the world should remember that!”
Too frequently we see stories of police acting inappropriately – shooting innocent and friendly pet dogs, without so much as a whisper of remorse. But there is always the other side of the coin, police acting heroically and showing compassion to our best friends. We do not see this side often enough.
Be prepared to bust out theKleenex for this video, accompanied by Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel,” which we know all too well from those heartbreaking ASPCA commercials. The video shows a police officer in Spain making just a few simple gestures to show a dog he cares. The dog was struck by a car, and Carlos Rosa stays with him on the side of the road, refusing to leave his side.
Sadly, the dog did not survive. His internal injuries were too severe to repair, and he was euthanized at a veterinary clinic. But before he departed this world, he was brought some comfort by being shown the kindness of a human who made sure this dog would not be alone when he died.
The incident occurred on November 24, when owner Gary Branson dropped Chloe off at a relative’s house while he went out of town for Thanksgiving. She left Chloe in her garage when she went out shopping, but the dog tripped the sensor and opened the door.
Police received a call from neighbour Kenny Collins, who said there was a large, aggressive pit bull-mix (chocolate Lab mix, according to Branson) wandering around, barking at his windows. Police arrived with animal control, and Collins’ son began filming the event on hiscell phone.
“He’s basically back in the garage or whatever, staying away from the police,” Collins said. Collins said that Chloe just sat in the garage near her bed for about half an hour while the officers scratched their heads, thinking what to do.
Chloe must have attempted to get back out, because one of the officers used his Taser on her twice, forcing her back inside. Scared, Chloe tried to escape again, but was shot by Price. The animal control officer finally got the wounded dog on the catch pole, but Price shot her four more times, finally ending her life.
Commerce City Police issued a statement that read: “An animal control agent was able to place a ‘catch pole’ around the dog’s neck. The pit bull remained extremely agitated and continued to attempt to attack the animal control agent. Due to the dog’s size and aggressive demeanour, it could not be controlled on the catch pole.
For the safety of the animal control agent and the community, a police officer shot and killed the dog.” Collins said that from the video, you could tell Chloe was just scared and trying to run away from danger. “I totally disagree with it, totally,” he said. “The dog was not attacking people and that’s not what I said when I called 911.”
Gary Branson with framed photos of his dogs
Branson is devastated at the loss of his dog, who had been a therapy dog to him since he underwent heart surgery in 2008.
“She was my constant companion pretty much 24/7. And there’s never been any incidents where she was violent or aggressive,” Branson said. “She was as gentle as a lamb. She loved kids. She loved running around with them, playing with them. She’d let them ride on her like a horse, bounce on her, pull her ears, and she never once did anything to harm a child – or an adult.
She was just a loving, loving animal who loved attention. It didn’t matter from who.” After a thorough investigation, the Adams County District Attorneycharged price with cruelty to animals. The cell phone video, which went viral, has been a key piece of evidence, along with witness accounts. A necropsy was also performed.
Branson is considering taking legal action against the Commerce CityPolice Department. “They had the opportunity to do the right thing – to own their mistake, to apologize for that mistake. And they didn’t,” said Branson’s attorney, Jennifer Edwards. “So now I think they need to change their ways within that police department.
Obviously, there’s something wrong in the culture there. In three months, we’ve gone to trial on one dog getting shot, and now we have another one needlessly murdered. Something has to change.”

One police officer uses his Taser twice on the dog. Then the dog tries to run away and is captured by the animal control officer on the catch pole. But, after it is captured, a police officer fires five shots at Chloe, killing the dog.
At least one stray bullet hit the animal control officer’s car with neighbors and kids all around.
Commerce City Police initially lied, releasing a statement reading in part, “An animal control agent was able to place a ‘catch pole’ around the dog’s neck. The pit bull remained extremely agitated and continued to attempt to attack the animal control agent. Due to the dog’s size and aggressive demeanor, it could not be controlled on the catch pole. For the safety of the animal control agent and the community, a police officer shot and killed the dog.”
In the video, it does not appear that the dog moved aggressively toward two police officers and an animal control worker. The video seems to show a terrified dog who is determined to run away.
Alicia Hall, an animal behavior technician with the Dumb Friends League, said, “The animal could still potentially be a danger, but if the catch pole is being used appropriately, the animal should be restrained safely. As far as I can see from the video, it looks like the dog actually walked right into the catch pole as it was coming out of the garage and was safely restrained.”
“The video, it’s pretty far away and kind of fuzzy, so it’s hard to see a lot of the dog’s body postures, but what I did see is that the dog did retreat quite a bit from the police officers and the animal control officer. It ran into the garage rather than coming out of the garage. And even when he was coming out of the garage, it didn’t look like he was coming after them, it looked like he was trying to get away from them,” Hall said.
Not surprisingly, Commerce City Police Chief Chuck Saunier defends the actions of the killers.
The dog was temporarily being housed at this location by the owner’s relative. She was charged with numerous violations.
“This is shocking to say the least, the poor dog was on the end of a catch-pole, if the prick that was using it didn’t have control, then he wasn’t trained properly, police are very trigger happy around stray dogs…shoot then ask question…which is not good enough!” R.I.P Chloe x”
The actions of police officers in Commerce City, CO are being called into question after they responded to a call to pick up a loose dog and shot it 5 times, fatally wounding it.
The large breed dog was seen wandering around a neighbourhood, and while it was not causing any sort of disturbance a neighbourcalled to have it picked up, thinking it was a stray, and was astonished to see police capture and kill the dog.

“I called police because I saw a dog wandering loose out front,” said Ken Collins. Unbeknownst to Collins, his neighbour was looking after the dog, named Chloe, for a cousin who was out of town for the holidays. When she went out, she left the dog in the garage with the door closed. But somehow Chloe tripped the door opener and wandered outside.
Collins, who observed the whole scene, said he did not fear the dog, and said that after about 30 minutes, the dog just sat inside the opengarage doornear her bed while officers decided what to do. ”He’s basically back in the garage or whatever, staying away from police.” Chloe was tasered twice, and she dropped to the ground each time. Then animal control used a catch pole to contain the dog, and it while she was on the catch pole and effectively restrained that police started shooting.
Collins, who videotaped the whole incident, was very troubled by the fact that the police started shooting and said that at least one stray bullet hit theanimal control officer’s car with neighbors and kids all around.Alicia Hall, an animal behaviourtechnician with the Dumb Friends League said ”The animal could still potentially be a danger, but if the catch pole is being used appropriately, the animal should be restrained safely. As far as I can see from the video, it looks like the dog actually walked right into the catch pole as it was coming out of the garage and was safely restrained,” Hall said.
Commerce City Police DetectiveMike Saunders says the incident will be investigated and added ”We need time to look at the video. We need time to look over the officer’s report. And we need time to speak to the officer before we can comment.”
Collins later said, “I wish I hadn’t called, but like my kids keep reassuring me, I did what anybody else would do and that’s what the lady across the street said, whose dog was shot, that she would have done the same thing,”
But nothing can bring back Chloe, who was seemingly the innocent victim in a tragic story or explain why police shot at the animal 5 times, finally killing her.

Not all of my posts will be current news, or even about animal abuse! I do like to share other animal news, uplifting stories or videos; some that are funny or just touch the heart!
If I have anything to say on any post, you will see it in bold blue writing. I try to remain a lady, but it's hard to contain my anger & emotions at the some of the stories I post; I don’t have a heart of stone, tears stain many articles I write!
Lastly, my apologies for any errors; I am learning whilst posting, so if you find anything that doesn't work or a broken link, sorry, I'm only human!!!!
ABOUT THESE POSTS
I would just like to make readers aware, that I search for stories on the internet; regards animal abuse etc. I copy stories etc. from the internet; assuming these stories are correct at time of publishing. Having said that, sometimes the press get it wrong! So I just want to add that at the time of me posting a news story, I presume all the facts seem present & correct.
Please note....all people mentioned in this blog, are presumed innocent, until proven otherwise, in a court of law.
For anyone wishing to connect to me via my Facebook page...PLEASE NOTE, ONLY PEOPLE I ADD AS ANIMAL ADVOCATES CAN SEE MY WHOLE PAGE...I do this out of respect for those friends I have who do not wish to see graphic images, videos or links of animal abuse!
As 99% of my page is animal related; anyone not in the above group of friends; will only see a limited amount of posts!!
DUE TO ANIMAL HATERS...I WILL ONLY ADD PEOPLE WHO CAN PROVE WHO THEY ARE via Facebook, Wordpress, Twitter etc. & WHO HAVE A GENUINE INTEREST IN ANIMAL WELFARE... i.e. if your Facebook page has absolutely nothing to do with animals, I see no point in joining my page. My Facebook is solely for animal welfare, I am not interested in playing games etc. I don't mean to sound rude but I am not interested in the amount of friends I have, its the quality of those friends that count.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND REQUESTS FOR YOUR FRIENDS TO JOIN. I do not want anyone to be upset by graphic images etc.
My aim is to educate & raise awareness to the horrors animals face, at the hands of humans, every day, around the world!!
We can not hope to achieve better laws, to protect animals, unless we unite as one, to speak up for those who are voiceless!!
