“They should have put him & the other little shit in jail for a long time, for torturing & killing the little puppy first time round; I’m sick of hearing about the twat! Fxxxxxg psychopaths like this don’t suddenly go on the straight & narrow; he will be in trouble for the rest of his life, which means either animals or humans will suffer!”

DRESDEN, Tenn. – The West Tennessee teenager convicted of animal cruelty is back in court again to face a judge after his latest arrest.

Wednesday’s hearing for Preston Odle stems from another arrest last month, and residents told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News they are not happy with the teen’s punishment.MUG-PrestonOdle

I think it’s pretty stupid,” said resident Jaylee Elsea. “I mean, if you’re already in trouble, why would you do it again?”

Odle pleaded guilty to torturing and killing a Saint Bernard puppy last September, and on Wednesday he pleaded guilty to a new chargecontributing to the delinquency of a minor.

“There again. That just shows you, you know, one more strike he’s supposed to be out, but he won’t be. Not in this county,” said resident Sue Box.

Odle was arrested in December for possession of a weapon by a felon.

According to court papers, he and several other juveniles were hunting for deer, though Odle claimed he was only driving. The state dropped that weapon charge.

“I think what he did is horrible,” Elsea said. “Killing a dog is practically like killing a person. It’s wrong.”

Residents said his punishment for both crimes was not harsh enough.

“Because I think it’ll go on to other things because he got by with this, so he will continue,” Box said.

Officials said if Odle is found guilty of violating his probation later this month, he could get one to two years in jail. “Yea & pigs might fly!”

On Wednesday, the judge sentenced him to 45 days in jail for the contributing to the delinquency of a minor charge.

Odle’s next hearing is on January 17 in Weakley County Circuit Court

killed Puppy Case: Preston Odle & Levi Evans – Teens sentenced to community service

Comments Off on killed Puppy Case: Preston Odle & Levi Evans – Teens sentenced to community service

“I CAN’T FXXXXXG BELIEVE THIS…THESE 2 MURDERING BXXXXXD GET COMMUNITY SERVICE 100 HOURS PER YEAR FOR BRUTALLY STABBING & KILLING A ST.BERNARD PUPPY…was the Judge a friend of the family or what??? This can’t be right…Let me remind you of what they did….

“I believe it started out by them kicking the dog and breaking its ribs, then one of them stood on its head and pressed it into the ground,” said Chief Randal Walker of the Dresden Police Dept.

Officers said they believe Preston Odle, 18, and Levi Evans, 19, tortured a puppy for fun, making this case even more shocking for residents.

”The puppy’s mouth was wired shut, then they put wire around the dogs neck and pulled over a tree limb and pulled it up in the air trying to choke it that way,” said Walker.”

Officers said the brutality did not stop there, according to a statement that was made by one of the boys. Police said Odle then decided to stab the puppy in the back with a knife, which makes this the worst case of animal cruelty in Dresden to date. Residents said they are outraged.
” They don’t understand. It’s pretty sickening, ya know to mistreat an animal like that,” admitted Walker.”

“You tell me, is that sentence enough for what they did? 4 hours they tortured that little puppy…their not kids…something stinks here…someone been getting back-handed payments or what??? I truly am so fxxxxxg angry…I cried myself to sleep the night I posted this, I couldn’t get the images out of my head, how that poor baby must have suffered! “

DRESDEN, TN-  Outside the Weakley County Courthouse 25 people gathered early Thursday morning.

Levi Evans

They wore buttons with the picture of a 4-month-old St. Bernard puppy and t-shirts emblazoned with his image.

They carried signs reading, ‘There is no excuse for animal abuse.’  The group ‘Justice For Puppy Doe’ was hoping the ‘justice’ they had spent 6 months fighting for was just minutes away.

It was the day Preston Odle, 18, and Levi Evans, 19, would be sentenced.  In September, the pair plead guilty to animal abuse charges.  They admitted they had beaten and stabbed the stray dog to death.

Inside the courtroom, their lawyers did not make excuses.

Lane Unger, representing Preston Odle told the judge, “It was incredibly stupid what they did.”

Both teens wrote letters that their lawyers read.

On behalf of his client, Levi Evans, Robert Kinton read in part, “My behavior was extremely inappropriate, immature, and lacked any respect. I know I am at fault.”

Circuit Judge William Acree addressed the pair saying, “Both of you are young, you have the opportunity to make something out of your life.”

Instead of a possible 2-year jail sentence, Acree instead sentenced them to 2 years of community service.  Each teen will be responsible for 100 hours a year.

Lisa Oatsvall, active with ‘Justice For Puppy Doe’ said later, “It broke my heart.  It’s not enough.  They should have been in jail.”

Oatsvall and others later released dozens of purple balloons.  She said she was thinking not just of Puppy Doe, but of his abusers.

“Hopefully they’ve learned a lesson from all this so far.  Maybe we’ve taught them something too, we can only hope so.”

Oatsvall says while she is disappointed, she is not giving up.  She tells Local 6 she plans to use the ‘Justice for Puppy Doe’ Group as a jumping off point to help other abused animals.

Dresden – Pair Charged with Puppy Killing Appear in Court – Video

Comments Off on Dresden – Pair Charged with Puppy Killing Appear in Court – Video

“What they did to that puppy, was unjustified & people are not going to forget it for a long time.  They deserve nothing less than the minimum 2 years in jail, anything less is just a slap on the wrist. See the video link below!”

In Dresden, the two teens accused of torturing and stabbing a 4-month-old Saint Bernard puppy to death, appeared in front of a judge, Wednesday.

The courtroom was filled with upset residents and family members for both Preston Odle,18, and Levi Evans, 19, who each face a charge of especially aggravated animal cruelty in connection with the incident in May.

Emotions ran high during their preliminary hearing. Residents said they are still outraged and fearful the two will hurt someone or something else. “This time it was a puppy. Next time it might be a little baby,” said Glyn Watson who lives in Atwood.

During the hearing, Odle and Evans learned the District Attorney is pursuing Class-E felonies again them, which typically carry a one to two year sentence.

Some residents said, they believe two years is not enough for the life of a puppy. “This punishment for this crime does not fit,” said Brenda Watson of Atwood.

Defense attorneys said both Odle and Evans waived their right to a preliminary hearing. Their cases will now move to the grand jury in September. Until then the court ruled they are to stay in Weakley County and undergo mandatory counseling.

“He has placed a curfew of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week on both of these young men,” said Lang Unger, Odle’s Defense Attorney.

The judge also ordered no contact with any animals while they are in treatment. Residents said, they felt the restrictions placed on both were too light considering the nature of the crime they are accused of.

Well they could still hurt somebody before 8 o’ clock as long as they are home I guess the court ruled it doesn’t matter,” said Lyndsay Burnett of McKenzie.

Animal cruelty is a growing problem in the south region and they are now taking a stand, said local animal rights activists.

“That’s the first step to getting everything changed. We want to get the punishment for these crimes changed,” said Watson.

Unger said his client was anxious during the hearing, due to the enormous attention on the internet, surrounding this case.

“We’ve been monitoring some of the things on the internet and I’m disturbed by some of the more vocal folks who want to make those kind of threats that’s not productive, I hope that ceases.” said Unger.

Odle has endured many hardships over the years that will become more evident throughout this case, said Unger. “Yes he has, but that’s not an excuse for torturing & killing a puppy

Both Odle and Evans are scheduled to reappear in court September 10th.
