Abused and abandoned puppy found with hind legs broken

“OMG…Watch the video…what is wrong with the world, again, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not kids that did it…my heart breaks for this precious little angel. I hope those who did it are caught & beaten with plywood or a baseball bat…see how they like it.!! SAN ANTONIO—An abused puppy was discovered abandoned in the woods, with both hind legs broken. Animal specialists believe that the dog might have been hit with a baseball bat.

San Antonio Pets Alive, a nonprofit group, is now trying to save the life of the five-month-old Labrador and Shar-Pei mix.

“Havana” was found sitting in the woods by a park ranger who brought her to San Antonio Animal Care Services.

When she arrived, she was barely able to move around and had to balance all of her weight on her two front legs.

X-rays revealed that she had two broken knees, and that she will need surgery to correct them. The surgery is expected to cost over $1,000 per leg.

But now, the animal is receiving a second chance at life.

Dr. Susan Isreal with South Texas Veterinary Specialists has agreed to do the surgery pro bono.

Isreal says the bones in Havana’s back legs are severely displaced and have already started to heal incorrectly.

She and her medical team will use pins to correct the problem so that the puppy will be able to go on and have a normal and happy life. Havanah’s surgery is scheduled for Friday morning.

“I can understand those whose dogs, due to breeding abnormalities, want to save the pups life, when nothing is left but surgery.  But if its true that Kim Kar…whatever her name is, is doing this for pure cosmetic reasons, both she & the surgeon prepared to put an animal through non-essential surgery, should be convicted under the Animal Protection Act!” 

I grew up in New York City and sometimes, walking along the street, the sight of a homeless man begging for food as people strolled along nearby, walking their dogs wearing expensive designer doggy clothes, would make me want to tear my hair out. “Nothing could be more callous and wasteful than expensive doggy clothes,” I thought to myself. I was wrong.

It turns out that people are actually forcing their pets to undergo cosmetic surgery. While the healthcare debate rages in the US and people do not have enough funds for life saving medical procedure, some people are actually bringing in Rex and Fido for nips and tucks.

Aside from the issues of animal cruelty and conspicuously wasteful consumption, isn’t this also completely unnecessary? Why the hell would a dog need a facelift?

“Pets,” Dr. Alan Schulman from LA told MSNBC, “are no longer considered property, but family members. With the evolution of this emotional bond, people with a discretionary income are taking advantage of technology and veterinary expertise to give their animals medically indicated reconstructive surgery resulting in a better quality of life.”

Holy God! How does implanting fake testicles, or Neuticles, improve its quality of life? Why would someone spend so much money to give their dog fake nuts when people are hungry and sick?

Who would be sick enough to do this? How about Kim Kardashian, who bought a pair for her dog Rocky.

You can also buy your pet orthodontics and get your little pet breast reduction surgery. The only question is: why is this becoming common?
