“Seriously, one would have to be almost suicidal to jump into a tigers den! As horrific as it is, the tiger is in no way to blame, it’s natural instincts always remain! My condolences to the family of the dead man; but the tiger was not to blame! Also the enclosure fence seemed sufficient enough to keep people out or falling in!!”

A man has been killed by an endangered tiger after allegedly jumping into its moat at an Indian zoo.
The man, named locally as Maqsood, is said to have been under the influence of alcohol when he climbed into the white tiger enclosure at New Delhi Zoo on Tuesday.
Witnesses say the 22-year-old entered the enclosure despite several attempts by zoo security to keep him from the tigers.

Once the man had jumped into the enclosure, the tiger grabbed him by the neck as terrified onlookers began throwing sticks and stones at the animal to try to save him.
Photos posted online of the attack show the tiger standing over the victim, who can be seen curled into a ball, trying to protect his head with his hands.
A witness said he raced to the enclosure after hearing screams, to see the victim locked in the tiger’s jaws, ‘writhing badly in pain’.
‘Around 1.30pm, when we were in the reptiles area, we heard very loud screams,’ the witness told CNN-IBN news channel.
‘We saw that a white tiger had caught a boy by his neck and he was writhing badly in pain. He kept suffering for the next 10-15 minutes but nobody helped him.’
Another witness said the tiger kept ‘roaming around’ the enclosure, holding the victim by the neck.

Zoo officials said the man had appeared to have been ‘under the influence of alcohol’ and that security had tried to keep him away from the tiger enclosure.
‘Despite repeated warnings that he shouldn’t get too close to the outdoor enclosure, the man eventually climbed over a knee-high fence and small hedges, then jumped down 18 feet into a protective moat,‘ National Zoological Park spokesman Riyaz Ahmed Khan said.
Authorities eventually frightened the tiger into a small cage inside the enclosure.
The man, whose body remained in the outdoor enclosure two hours after the attack, was dead by the time help reached him, Khan said.
The zoo remained open Tuesday afternoon, though authorities eventually roped off the tiger enclosure.

White tigers are found in southern and eastern Asia, particularly India, and owe their appearance to a recessive gene. They are regarded as an endangered species.
India is home to 1,706 Royal Bengal tigers and fewer than 100 white tigers, according to the last census in 2011. All the white tigers are in captivity.
Rampant poaching and loss of habitat due to human encroachment are cited as the major challenges to tiger conservation efforts.

Last Tuesday morning Bear and his handler, Officer Vincent Tieniber, came to the aid of another officer who was attempting to break up a fight between four women on a subway platform.
“Ninety-nine percent of the time, when we come to the scene, people cooperate,” said Tieniber. “No one really wants to be bit by a dog.”
Unfortunately one of the women was extremely uncooperative. In the scuffle Bear was kicked in the mouth as she resisted arrest. Bear did not let this stop him from getting the job done. When the women kicked at Bear a second time he clamped down on her foot until she was handcuffed.
The ordeal left Bear with several broken teeth, a cut up tongue and a swollen snout.
On Wednesday he was able to leave the animal hospital and when he did he was greeted by his fellow NYPD K-9 officers. Bear will require a few more weeks of rest and treatment, but will make a full recovery and return to work once he is recovered.
The woman responsible for kicking Bear is facing several charges, including injuring a police animal.
Township police received a call Tuesday morning about a possible animal-crueltycase after a passer-by sawtwo opossums that were tied together by their tails hanging from a wire on Woodrow Avenue.
Police were dispatched at 9:28 a.m. and discovered the animals were dead, according to a police call sheet. Humane officers were called and arrived at 9:40 a.m.
“There were actually two young opossums that were zip-tied together at the base of their tails. Someone had thrown them up over, and they were suspended from a wire directly in the center of the street,” officer Jack Neapolitan told 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner.
“I think the punishment this bxxxxxd received for causing such pain & trauma to a puppy; is pathetic! Anyone who can do this to a little puppy, isn’t going to stop because they have attended a course! The violence is already ingrained in them & will always be part of them. They have a serious & often deadly temper, which doesn’t take much to provoke & they snap! Someone who can beat a puppy so badly by strangling & banging its head on a porch floor, are a danger not only to animals but to other humans too, especially children & spouses; they like to intimidate & control etc. they are ticking time bombs! Had the neighbour not seen Palmer in the act, he would probably have killed that poor little pup!”
EVERETT — A Snohomish County judge on Tuesday advised a Sultan man that he should have bought a book about housebreaking dogs instead of beating a puppy named Precious.
Superior Court Judge Eric Lucas told the man that a step-by-step book from Petco would have been more productive than physically assaulting the animal. “It’s not that difficult,” Lucas said.
Kenneth Palmerwas sentenced to 30 days in jail for the Oct. 17 incident. He had already served 45 days and was expected to be released Tuesday. Palmer, 44, also was ordered to complete a class on preventing animal cruelty. Lucas banned Palmer from ever again owning dogs, or similar pets, or even residing in a home with dogs.
Palmerapologized, saying he was “just trying to discipline the puppy,” but admitted he’d only owned a cat in the past.
“I’ll never discipline another pet again as long as I live,” he said. “Too right pal, because you are banned from owning any more!”
Palmerpleaded guilty last week to first-degree animal cruelty. He faced up to a year in jail. Prosecutors recommended the 30-day sentence and asked for 10 months of community supervision. Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Robert Grant also pushed for the defendant to be required to attend a class about animal abuse.
Palmerwas accused of beating a pitbull-mix puppy because he was angry that the dog wasn’t housebroken. The animal suffered internal bleeding but has since made a full recovery.
The incident came to the attention of police after a neighbour reported seeing Palmer kick Precious across a yard and pick the dog up by the throat. The woman told police Palmer later had the animal by the throat and was hitting her head against a porch floor.
The woman screamed for Palmerto stop. The woman threatened to call 911 if Palmer didn’t hand over the dog. She told police that eventually Palmer tossed Precious to her. The woman was able to catch the dog. She fled and called police.
Precious was vomiting and unable to hold up her head or walk, court papers said.
The puppy was taken to Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital, where an ultrasound revealed internal bleeding, most likely involving the liver or spleen. A veterinarian said that type of severe trauma is typically only present if a dog has been hit by a car or kicked in the stomach. The puppy also had an injury to her eye, either from direct trauma to the eye or increased blood pressure due to strangulation.
Palmer on Tuesday was ordered to pay $753 to the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office, which oversees animal control services.
“WTF…seriously what sort of psycho can do this to a dog; yet live amongst normal people & go undetected?? Somebody know’s the evil MF that did this, look at her face, she is pregnant for Christ’s sake…about to give birth!! Some neighbour knows this dog & who she belongs to…please if you have any kindness in your soul, tell the police; I’m sure you can do it anonymously with no fear of reprisal from the bastard that did this!”
“The monster that did this needs to be caught, if he can do this to a dog, what else is he capable of…those that know who he is, do you want it on your conscience if he does it again or hurts a child?? I hope the evil piece of shit that did it, is haunted whenever he closes his eyes, with the vision of one he loves aflame, burning, screaming in pain, shouting for his help…but he can do nothing…only watch while his worst nightmare unfolds each & every night…until the images send him crazy & he ends up in an asylum for the mentally insane! It’s nothing less than the sadistic bastard deserves! Better still, he could bar-be-cue himself; I would be happy with that!!”
“Please, can I ask that everyone say a pray for this poor sweetheart… lets hope that Petunia (her new name) recovers soon & has a beautiful litter of babies; all who finding loving homes. I especially hope & pray, Petunia also finds a new forever home where she will receive all the love she can handle! God bless her xx”
There is always so much controversy surrounding Pitbull Terriers!
So many people may not like them, but do they really have to set a dog on fire to prove their dislike?
Pregnant & set On Fire
It’s absolutely sickening; especially awful when the Pitbull is a pregnant female!
Not only was the dog set on fire, but afterward was hit by a car.
This maddening sense of abuse happened right in the south Chicago suburbs on Tuesday. That was when “It’s a Pittie” (IAP) Pitbull Rescue inMonee, Illinoiswere called in. Before IAP was contacted, another animal shelter had her. She required immediate medical assistance so IAP had to wait 24 hours for the dog’s release.
The poor mother-to-be had burns over 25% of her body. Due to the car accident, Petunia, as the dog is being referred to, also has internal injuries.
Pregnant Pit Bull Set On Fire
Why someone would have the audacity to do this in the first place is awful, but considering that the female dog’s milk has come in, it is extremely horrifying because she is likely to give birth in just about a week.
The person that carried forth the abuse will most likely never be discovered. This is very unfortunate indeed! No animal or human deserves treatment like Petunia received.
Culprits like whoever committed the abuse on Petunia make sure that they remain free from indictment. They do so by removing any identification that the dog may wear and fail to have them microchipped because to the abuser, the dog is ‘dispensable!’
No mother is ever dispensable but Petunia may be too weak to care for her coming litter which is yet another concern. She is receiving hydro-therapy treatments but needs constant care so that her burnt flesh does not get infected as that could prove life threatening.
So what if you do not likePitbulls? Is that any reason whatsoever for someone to hurt them to this degree?
Shelters and rescues are filled with them. Perhaps the shelters and rescues should take in the individuals that abuse the dogs and cause them such utter pain; locking them away from harming yet another defenceless animal. It is because of those individuals that Pitbulls act the way that they do. “Yes, totally agree with locking the MF’s up & causing them intense pain!”
We need better laws. Not just laws that stipulate that Pitbulls are not allowed to live in certain areas, but laws that protect Pitbulls and other animals that are on the “hit list” from being treated with such utter disdain. Maybe if we began with the root cause, the dogs themselves would not have such a pathetic reputation and be treated to mortifyingly.
It really and truly is hard to believe that this poor dog has to go through all of this.
Dog lovers everywhere apologize for those that should know better but obviously do not!
“WTF…what sort of person can let a puppy have an ingrowing collar? Poor things must have never been allowed out of the crate, else she would have noticed…surely!
I’ll bet she was breeding them to make a few dollars…which is why she never cared for them. Well she better get a decent ass kicking from the Judge for this! Prison, probation, fine, & no more dogs for life; I think that’s fair, don’t you??
TAMPA — A 34-year-old woman accused of keeping a dog and six puppies in dire conditions was arrested Monday afternoon, Hillsborough County Animal Services said.
Regena Lewis of Tampa was keeping the dogs in a small kennel with no food or water, an arrest affidavit shows.
The dogs were standing in their own faeces and urine, causing the oldest to develop burns on her paws.
One of the puppies had a collar embedded in its neck, causing “unnecessarypain and suffering,” the affidavit shows.
Lewis faces two counts of animal cruelty and seven counts of improper confinement.
She was booked into the Hillsborough County jail, where she remained Tuesday morning in lieu of $2,500 bail.
County Attorney Rick Sparks said Franklin District Judge Chris Olds issued an arrest warrant for Stephanie Cooper late Friday afternoon.
Cooper, 43, is charged with second-degree animal cruelty.
Frankfort Sewer Department employees Tuesday morning discovered an abandoned puppy on Kentucky Avenue, according to a Thursday press release from the Frankfort Police Department.
Employees said they saw a 5-foot-2-inch to 5-foot-6-inch white female with blonde hair and slender build in a parked silver ChevroletSUV near the entrance to the plant, according to the release.
Employees said the woman got out of the vehicle carrying a box, which she left on the bank of the Kentucky River.
When employees retrieved the box, they found a female Chihuahua puppy inside.
A veterinary examination determined the puppy was 5 weeks old and most likely would have died if left in the box.
The Franklin County Humane Society took in the puppy, and has placed it in a foster care home. One of the sewer department employees who found her is planning to adopt her, according to the Humane Society’s Facebook page.
Cooperwill be lodged at Franklin County Regional Jail on a $5,000 bond and is prohibited from possessing any animals if she posts bond, Sparks said.
Sparks said he thanks the efforts from Frankfort police and the community for identifying the suspect in the case.
It is unknown when Cooper will appear in Franklin District Court for her charge.
“Yet another dog, a mixed breed pointer; has fallen victim to the grey wrap known as duct tape. I’m sorry, I just don’t believe there is no foul play here! Who the hell would take the time to wrap a dog in duct tape, if it was just an animal they found dead; who carries duct tape round with them anyway?? Or are we supposed to believe it’s just in case they come across a dead animal…please!! If it was someone’s pet dog, why bind it with tape…why not just bury the dog in either there back yard, or have it cremated! It just doesn’t make sense, but what does make perfect sense to me, is that some sick bastard, perhaps even kids, committed this vile act; then just dumped the body!! That would explain why there was no abusive marks on the dogs body…it probably asphyxiated from the lack of oxygen & the constriction of the tape!!”
A dog that was wrapped “mummy-like” in duct tape likely did not die as a result of foul play, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Capt. Corey Brubakken said the dog was discovered Monday by a hunter near mile post 78 along S.D. Highway 44 on the bank of the Cheyenne River.
While baffled by the odd circumstances of seeing the dog wrapped in duct tape, Brubakken said he believes the animal was not killed.
“We’re looking into more identification on the dog and whether or not it had any injuries,” he said. “We don’t have a lot to go on and we don’t know the circumstances as to why it was wrapped in duct tape.”
The dog, a mixed-breed pointer, is estimated to have been between seven and nine years old and had no obvious signs of physical abuse, Brubakken said.
“We don’t know how it got there,” he said. “The dog may have expired and someone may have laid it there.”
“WTF…WHY ARE ANIMAL ABUSERS BEING LET OFF SO LIGHTLY?? This man pleaded no contest to drug and multiple animal cruelty charges while his wife continues to face trial for chaining their malnourished pit bulls in their own filth…Deputies saw a very skinny brown pit bill dog tied to a large chain barking at me,” one deputy wrote in his report. Then observed a very skinny black pit bull dog lying on its side, and it appeared to be dead…I observed the black dog lift its head and look at me though due to the dog being so skinny from lack of food, the dog could not stand up.”
Bothdogs were “malnourished to the point of starvation”, according to an arrest report, with access to “old nasty water” and no food. Both dogs were tied to heavy chains and were surrounded by flies.
YET a Judge gave him probation…where is the justice??”
John Oswald, 30, pleaded no contest on Tuesday to two counts causing death, pain or suffering to animals and one count unlawful confinement or abandonment of animals. His arrest came after Escambia County sheriff’s deputies found two pit bulls sitting in their own filth, shackled with heavy chains and with bugs crawling all over them behind his home on U.S. 29.
The same day, another deputy shot and killed a dog, an arrest report says, and neighbors said the aggressive pit bull belonged to the Oswalds.
Oswaldalso pleaded no contest Tuesday to a marijuana charge, as investigators found marijuana growing in his backyard, according to his arrest report.
State Attorney Bill Eddins said his office had asked that Oswald serve 11 months and 15 days in the Escambia County Jail as a stipulation of his probation.
But Circuit Judge Gary Bergosh, who withheld adjudication on all charges, felt that Oswald only needed to be placed on probation for three years, according to court records.
“It’s our policy to take a very firm position in these animal cruelty cases, particularly where the extent of cruelty is this significant,” Eddins said, explaining that prosecutors would have accepted a plea where no jail time would be served.
“There was more than oneanimal involved, and there were other charges as well involving the marijuana.” “So WTF was this animal abusers let off for?? what does that say to other would-be animal abusers?? This is so wrong…it stinks…this is not taking a firm position against animal abusers…it’s letting them get off Scott free…this is a down right in-justice. Judge Gary Bergosh needs to booted off the judicial system!!”
Another case concerning Judge Gary Bergosh…
This is the second time this week that Bergosh has gone below the sentences asked for by prosecutors. The other case involved 27-year-old Michael Davis, who was convicted of manslaughter late last year in the shooting death of 16-year-old Alonzo Knight Jr.“I would suggest this Bergosh buggers off out of the Judicial system then, as he obviously does not uphold the same values as normal people; who view these as heinous crimes”
On Tuesday, prosecutors asked for Davis to be sentenced to 30 years in prison, the maximum recommended by the state Department of Corrections. Instead, Bergosh handed down a six-year prison sentence, infuriating Knight’s family. “I am not surprised…this is disgraceful, a boys life only warrants 6 years from the offender
The minimum recommended sentence for the manslaughter charge is 10 years.
Prosecutors said they will appeal that sentence.
The case against John Oswald’s wife, 34-year-old Amanda Oswald, is still pending. She is set to appear in court today, and Eddins said prosecutors will be asking for a continuance so they can talk to John Oswald and get more information about the case.
“WTF…seriously, what’s the point in taking cases like this to court, where a couple let their dog starve to death; but the judge lets them off with a suspended sentence?? Oh, sorry, they were banned from owning a pet for 5 years…well whoopy fxxxxxg do!! Where is the deterrent value here, none at all. Is there any wonder so many animals are harmed when the justice system doesn’t do anything to try & stop it, I’m sick of seeing these pathetic sentences, sorry slaps on the wrist? It makes me so fxxxxxg mad!!!”
Danny Neira, an NYPD officer, and his wife, Rose Neira, of Farmingdale, N.Y., learned on Tuesday that they will not be heading to jail for allowing their dog to starve to death.
Animal cruelty conviction – Rose Neira Credit: Pet-Abuse.com
The couple faced charges after their two-year-old Great Dane, “Zack,” was discovered weighing a dismal 87 pounds back in Nov. 2010. A healthy, normal weight for this breed of dog ranges from 120 to 150 pounds.
Following the discovery of the emaciated dog, Zack received intensive veterinary care, but died just weeks later. According to the veterinary clinic which treated him, Zack died from heart issues stemming from starvation.
The couple argued that their dog suffered from a bowel disease which caused his poor body weight. They also told the court that their dog was receiving veterinary care.
Regardless of the claim of a health issue, the jury found that the couple had not provided adequate care for their dog.
The Neiras are prohibited from owning a pet for the next five years.
Danny and Rose Neira were convicted of neglecting their their Great Dane, Zach. This video was taken by an investigator from District AttorneyKathleen Rice‘s Animal Crimes Unit. Though vets tried to save Zach, his organs had deteriorated too much to survive. His visible ribs and vertebrae, unclipped nails, and dirty ears are additional evidence of neglect. DA Rice created the animal crimes unit to protect animals like Zack, but also because those who are cruel to animals often harm people too.
